  1. Thanks Guys,

I ran my 14' tinner down there in Sept last year.

I had to walk it back up the channel under the 400 with my motor out of the water. Same as the other rapids further down.

If the water level is to high, I won't be able to pull her back up. Going down is fine, but coming back will probly be an issue by the sounds of it.

  2. Did you notice any cracking before you put your stiffener plate on? Or only bowing in the transom.

If there was cracking before you put that homemade stiffener plate on, then you may have a case with Polarcraft.

IMO, it's that homemade stiffener plate that caused the big cracks in those paticular areas, but it's hard to tell from the pictures. The way it's gusseted down looks a little suspicious. Seems to be pulling on places that weren't designed to be pulled on. Hense the cracks right near the end of the gusset plate.

Like I said, it's hard to tell from the pics exactly where the cracks are.

  3. I'm gunna be in the Gibson Lake area May 24 weekend. I've never been on the lake that early in the season.

Does anyone know what the water levels are usually like that time of year?

I'd like to take the river down under the 400, but I'm not sure how fast the water will be moving through there. Might be tough.

Any details would be great. Thanks!

  4. Congrats on the weight loss! It is a real accomplishment.

Since getting married, I have put on some weight, and need to work it off.

I got married almost 4 years ago. I weighed 170 lbs. That was the peak of my weight loss on an Aitkins type diet.. Gained all the weight back +20 pounds.. up to 230 in about 3 years. Brutal..

Hey, thanks for all the comments guys.

I hope little things like this can inspire others in my situation to do the same. Summers comin, gotta look good with the shirt off trolling by hooters for spring pike!

  5. Funny I was suprised people, including yourself, were able to reconise me last night since I do not resemble that fit guy in my avatar picture. :thumbsup_anim:

There's been lots of recent pics of you floating around. Easily recognizable guy. Cudz too, but I never got a chance to say hi to him.

  6. Thanks for posting the pics Rob. It was nice meeting you last night.

I saw you snapping some pics of the crowd, and I was sure I had some retarded looking expressions on my face in some of them.

Funny thing last night. JP asked the crowd if anyone ever goes out on Simcoe and always expects to catch a fish, every time (speaking about Bass specifically). Not expecting anyone to raise their hand. And iN a very subtle way, Cudz raises his hand just a little..

  7. Well, on Jan 1 I tipped the scales at 227.5 lbs. :(

My goal was to drop 30 lbs by the May 24 weekend.

This morning (after a healthy sub for dinner last night courtesy of Dave!) I weighed in at 197.

I was able to achieve my goal 1 month early! :thumbsup_anim:

I've been on crazy diets before, and gained all the weight back. This time, there was no "real" diet. I just stopped over eating, reduced my alcohol consumption by about 50%, and run twice a week.

I've ran over 100kms this year. :stretcher:

Anyone else hit their resolution goals this year? I would love to hear others sucess stories too.

  8. I have a 2000 Expedition with 280K,that tows my 30' Camper anywhere...it tows my 14 no problem ! :thumbsup_anim:

I've had 0 ZERO, 0 ZERO.. problems in 8 years, regular preventative maintenance is key to the preservation of any vehicle.

But you don't wanna hear about the MPG! :wallbash:

I love it and dread the day that she dies.

Now there's a fun drinking game for the backyard!

Who knew two golf balls tied together with a foot or two of string between them, and a few sticks, would be so fun!

  9. I fish around there quit a bit. Caught a few walleye in some of the inland lakes this winter.

No real good advice on shore fishing spots, as when ever I'm there it's either hardwater, or I have my boat.

Like previously mentioned, talk to some of the locals. Mostly a friendly bunch up there. Someone will point you in the right direction.

You can rent a canoe at Suntrail Outfitters in Hepworth. Or there's a few places right in Tobermory to rent canoes. I'm not sure if the place right in Tobermory will be open yet though.

The waters up there will be mighty cold this time of year. Be carefull.

  10. Wow. I don't think many of us saw this coming. I certainly didn't

I guess he wasn't one to complain..

Very upset to here this. I hope his family stays stong though this hard time. My condolenses to them.

  11. My nahbour is a horder. He has a wood pile a mile high, and doesn't mind that I chip away at it.

I guess I lucked out in that department.

Before he offered though, I used to grab free skids all the time.
