Good luck Ryan. I'll have you in my thoughts the coming weeks.
It's been a rough go for lots of us these past few months. Something in the air a I guess.
Some people slam the OFC, saying it's nothing but a hug fest here. Well, sometimes even tough
fisherman need hugs!
-
That's great. First laugh of the day. Thanks!
-
Good job to all!
You did better then we did. Rolled a few, but nothing on the ice.
-
Man. I thought my day was bad.
Ah well eh! Back at er tomorrow.
-
Did ya catch anything during the 4 hour wait???
I marked a few perch. Rolled three of them with a Williams. But didn't catch a thing
-
I've seen enough wind for one day...

Sounds like a brutal day out there for you NAW. Hope the liquor is doing the trick
I'm takin it easy. Back at er again tomorrow morning. Gunna be out off IBP tomorrow too. Maybe we'll run into your crew.

I didn't have a good day at all..
I was supposed to have SAR training today in Barrie, but it was canceled. So i decided to head out fishing.
I met my fishing partner, and we headed out from Alcona toward Fox Island. Didn't mark much for the first hour, so we decide to move. Well, the Bravo won't start. Change the plug, fires up on the first pull. Start to head toward White Shoal.. My fishing partner on his ZL 550 stops, so I head over to him. His reverse beeper is on but he's in forward. The sled won't move, just a grinding noise. Must be a blown chain, or something.
So he jumps on the back of the Bravo. I way 215, and he ways 230. The Bravo makes it home with the sliders just a stinkin!
He has to drive to Nobleton to get the quad from his dad's place. So I head back out to his busted sled, and drill a hole.
Don't mark squat for 30 minutes, so I decide to move.. Bravo fires on the first pull, drive it 50' then it dies. I can't get it started again.
So we have two sled siting out at Fox Island, both dead.
I had to wait for 4 hours in what seemed like 80Km/hr winds for my fishing partner to show up the quad and a big sleigh. Then we took two runs in and out, one for the bravo, and one for the Cat.
Thank god for a nice warm float suite, and a hot thermos of coffee. I didn't get home till 6:00pm
Ya.. I hit the liqueur store on the way home..

In the ride from Alcona over to fox I must have seen 10 huts either on their side, or smashed to peaces.
That's 10 more fish then I caught.
What a
day out there.. See my post for details....

Nice report!
Sounds like you had some decent action.
I'll be out Sunday and Monday. Fire me a PM if your going out. I'll stop by for a chat.

Have you ever lost to any of these girls?
Yes.. Not ashamed of it either. There was extenuating circumstances that I'm not going to get into, but this woman kicked my

I've been involved in martial arts for 20 years. I've fought many girls in sparing and grappling matches. I would have no issues wrestling a girl. I wouldn't back down one bit.
The guy stated faith had something to do with his decision. I can understand that I guess?
You can’t really hold anything against this guy, it’s just not the decision I would have made.

That's wicked!
-
The one on my Strikemaster does.
Mine starts quite well in the chilly weather we get up here North of 60* too.
Mines the 2hp, and it doesn't have a primer. What Hp is yours?

On that note, does anyone have a auger they want to sell. Just the auger, not the power head..
Or trade for a sweat 3 blade 9" augar!
-
I called Stikemaster because my three blade auger is a peace of
. The Techumseth motor is great though.
I asked the service guy why they switched motors. He told me that Techumseth stopped running production on that motor. They where basically shut down by the EPA. A few years ago, the EPA jacked up the requirements for that motor. So Techumseth spent somewhere in the range of 6 million to redesign the motor. Last year, again, the EPA jacked up the requiremnts even more. Techumseth couldn't afford to do another design revision on a motor that was basically only sold to Stikemaster to be used on ice augers..
That's was the service guy told me anyways. He said they had been planning on switching to Solo for a while, but wheren't in any rush cuz the Tech, motors worked fine. Once Tech stopped production on the motor, they already had Solo lined up and made the switch.
I don't know much about the Solo motors, but I believe they have a primer blub, which is handy. The Tech. doesn't. Obviously, they are more environmentally freindly too. According to the service guy, they start better in the really cold weather.

The BPS Walleye Angler rods are nice rods and technique specific
That's what I bought, matched up the a shimano Symetre. It's fantastic. Mind you, I only used a few other Walleye rods, so I don't have much to compare to..
-
Naw.. it was nice meeting you... but don't be so bashful.. He forgot to mention he threw a lot more fish back then is seen... and he got that big walleye in Randy's ONE" perch hOLE .. LOL <love teasing>
It was fun watchin you catch fish after fish...
Great day forsure..
Ya.. I didn't want to say anything to stir the pot. But I caught that big eye outta the whole Randy was fishing from all day..
If Randy wasn't so busy cooking dogs all day, he would have caught a lot more fish for sure!
-
Great season so far eh! Keep the reports coming man. That was great report
-
Thanks for the report RR.
Glad I'll be on Cypress this weekend, and not Simcoe.
My fishing partner (Camocruzr from the lsmb) has a similar rack he's been running for the past 5 years now. They work like a charm eh! Don't have to worry about driving though fence gates.. It is a little scary for the guy riding behind on a sley though, stairing at sharp augar blades.

The Mosey on Inn, lots of Walleye in there, just remember before you put one on the stringer, wear a glove for protection.
I was on Nip last weekend, and never made my way there..! Next time.

Nick, didn't I tell you to use the head lamp? Which hole did it go down? I may try a big magnet I have.
If you walk straight out the door of the hut, it's the first whole you will come to..
About 20' from the hut..

Probably the last post for this thread then we can let it die. I was back out at the hut yesterday from 11:30 - 4:30 and had wayyy too much to drink. I caught 13" walleye and a buddy caught a 22.5" pike. We caught lots of perch but only kept a few for a snack in the hut. No pictures.
Speaking of way to much to drink. If you catch a brand new mag light in that area. let me know..
