  1. Nice! Wish I had some ice!
  2. Didn't break my PB steelhead or musky, those were tops on the list. However I did break some other PB's and helped Sugarpacket land a huge list of her PB's. So I'd say it was a very successful year.
  3. Yeah I never understood the Nov 15th close either. Usually after Labour day you have the kawarthas to yourself! And why the heck not leave carp open year round?
  4. Thank you everybody for the reviews. After seeing your experiences I believe I'll look into buying something else. It seemed like a decent enough idea but I can see the obvious drawbacks now. Thank you again, for the reviews.
  5. Indeed. I won't even look at the website to see what these lures look like now.
  6. Yeah, if I were to pick up a rod and see that I'd assume it was defective and put it back on the shelf.
  7. Anybody have one of these? Looks like an interesting design. Basically a folding camp chair with a foldout cover frame. Looks like a simple and effective idea. Interested to know if anybody has one or has used one in the past.
  8. They're all muskies. 3 different size classes, 3 different marking patterns. But they're all muskies.
  9. Man, the dude who started this thread must be LOVING the way it turned out.
  10. My guess is because of the publicity and relative closeness to Toronto. Not sure why Scugog is open however, as it's the closest and most popular.
  11. Dude, I can get the government to bail my boat out? Will they set up my bow mount for me too?
  12. These guys could sure use a bailout. C'moonnnnnnnn anybody fishin?
  13. Beauty ski for sure, and well deserved! Congrats!
  14. Green eggs and !
  15. A slight site inconvenience, it has been randomly slowing wayyyy down for me every 15 - 20 minutes or so. Anyone else having this problem?
  16. Indeed Misfish, Merry Christmas to all. I'm patiently awaiting some water I can walk on!
  17. Wouldn't know, as I moved out when I was 19. Stayed with my parents for 2 months after college and moved out again. I'll see what the guys who were laid off with families at my work say to that though. I mean obviously if they're working their butts off at a low wage, they're living it up easy with their folks eh? Anyway, the point of my post was.. people will encounter rough times because of this, but the hardy will work hard and survive. Why? Because it's their only choice. If a mortgage is the most important thing in your life, maybe it's time to look harder at priorities.
  18. Certainly not the future of fishing shows as the show has been cancelled from what I hear. They're running re-runs now but no more new episodes.
  19. I was given some smoked eel last night and in the spirit of the recent talks I gave it another try (along with some smoked mackerel). Maybe the first batch I had was off or something, this stuff was alright. Like any other smoked fish I guess just a bit greasy. The mackerel was excellent.
  20. Well there is, but it's more like freak accidents happening.. but the ability to adapt and learn from luck - maybe thats another mark of an angler. For instance, one day Sleded and I were having a terrible late fall day, tossing grubs, crankbaits, finesse baits.. basically all slow moving lures. Sleded had brought a rod with a spinnerbait on it before the day started and hadn't casted it yet, but somehow the spinnerbait ended up dislodged from his reel seat and was hanging about 2 inches over the water. Suddenly we hear SPLASH beside the boat. He had caught the first bass of the day on the rod he wasn't using. lol It jumped out of the water right next to the boat to grab a hanging spinnerbait. We caught 16 bass that late October day on buzzbaits.
  21. Maybe we can get Dave to take us steelheading? haha
  22. Y'know, a little here, a little there. Mostly Lake Erie.
  23. All I have to say is.. I have friends at my work who were working in factories locally. Got laid off, can't find work. They were making really good money, 30/hr or more doing what they did. Industry crumbled, now they work with me for next to minimum wage. They whine.. but overall, they adapted and overcame it. Less money isn't a death sentence.
  24. Yeah, cuz obviously the CEO's are pure geniuses!
  25. Experience is the greatest teacher. More time on the water = more learned. You must be willing to try new things and new spots regularly. Changing almost constantly until you feel confident in all aspects of what you do. Then you move on to something else that's new. That constant eagerness to learn mixed with the time on the water to learn it.. that's what makes a great fisherman.
