Gulp Alive minnows on a tip-up?
archie_james_c replied to lhousesoccer's topic in General Discussion
You know what? I've never tried that! I think next time I go into the park I'm gonna bring a pack of 3" Shad and try them against my buddy running real (dead) minnows!! In the park you cant use alive bait anyways so if these actually work it'd be nice to just use the GULP and not worry about stopping at the bait shop, making sure they're dead, dealing with the MNR etc etc... -
Anyone fishing the NOPWT this year?

My buddy runs the same rod with a Abu Cardinal 700 series spooled with 15lb Power Pro. Last year I also bought my dad the 7' Med Lite/Fast and a Daiwa Regal Xia 2500 for his Birthday. Both of them have nothing but good thing's to say about them. And for the price they can't be beat! -

Is it just me or G Loomis' website rediculously hard to navigate? I am interested in their rod's, but everytime I go to research them I am frustrated with their site. They classify the rods by a serial number, and if you don't already know the meaning of it forces you to click on each single model to find out the action and power of the rod. Very frustrating if you ask me. Croix I think outdid themselves on ease of use as far as their website goes. Click on a particular series and a chart with every length, power and action comes up, and below the chart a brief description of the rods intended use. -
I guess this proves it, you can teach an old dog new tricks

Had alot of fun with my St.Croix Mojo Bass 6'8" Medium Light Extra Fast spin rod and Daiwa Tierra 2000 spooled with 15lb Fireline Tracer Braid last season. This season I plan to add to it Croix Legend Tournament Walleye's in 7' Medium Moderate and 6'8" Medium Extra Fast with either Shimano Stradic Ci4's or Daiwa Fuego's. These 3 rods should cover all my Walleye spinning rod needs, I'll have to add a couple baitcasters/trolling rods for heavy bottom bouncers and planer board use as money permits . -

Washed work clothes and organized tools for my 16 hour shift in the morning. Cruised the net and fantasized about new outboards periodically as well. -

Very cool maybe I'll see you there. How is the tourney itself? Do you share pretty tight quarters with other boats? How are the attitudes of the anglers in general? Lots of courtious, professional people or more of the 'WEEEEEEEEEEEEW LETS DRINK SOME BUDS AND CATCH SOME WALLEYES!!!!" kinda crew? -
Like it says, anyone hitting up the Northern Ontario Pro Walleye Trail this year? Me and my buddy want to do Mattagami for sure and maybe one or two more if work/money co-operates.

Don't feel bad Clown has done nothing for Bass or Pike for me really. But Walleye seem to take a liking to them . Agreed!! I bought a Perch Xrap thinking I'd clean up with it in Rock Lake...but nothing...meanwhile Perch bladed crawlers are the ticket in that lake...go figure?? -

I've done well on bass with the White Ghost but never really gave it a chance for Walleye as I was too busy catching them on perch/clown crawler harnesses and Clown Xraps, but I wanna start throwing more crankbaits for eye's this season. -
It is in fact pretty fun to rag on Gavin....

I think I just haven't gave the gold enough of a chance. My go-to colours/rapalas for Walleye, Pike, and Bass are as follows: 1) XRap in CLOWN 2) XRap in White Ghost 3) Anything Fire Tiger My big prospects for landing Eye's this year are the following... XRap Shad in Clown Clackin' Rap in Yellow Perch I am also going to give the Purple Ghost XRap more of a chance this year... -
Great rod and great reel for multi-purpose fishing. One hint....spend another 30$ on a rod case. Bring it right in your boat with you...when the rods not being fished, it's in the case....that way, your rod will last you your entire life .
-
Anyone else buy one of these? It's the SAME damned colour as their Gold Xraps . Which by the way I have never had luck on. The site shows that RC is much darker than Gold...not so in person. Here's a pic of a Gold 10 size, and the 08 Rusty Craw... This isn't really a rant so much as just letting folks know about this...

Never really did well in the morning except for Salmon fishing in the river. When me you eazy and the other guys went to Round lake last month and you proved that whole thing about the bite starting as soon as the sun breaks through the clouds and hits the ice darn suprised me

tagged for interest. i've been mulling around the idea of making a 6' Light/moderate with a split grip and no fore-grip...

I still don't get why they aren't punishing poachers instead of law abiding anglers but....
