  1. well, glad to report wannafish was right in the first reply! fuel pump control module, $175 for the part (dealer only), 18 Carling for the tow, and $40 for use of my buddy's hoist (and his help and parts discount ). the new design which keeps the unit off the cross-member should prevent future rotting and failure. the old one was cracked clear accross from salt and moisture buildup. thanks for all the help guys... except to the haters of the all mighty Blue Oval!!!!! Cheers, Jesse
  2. looking for thoughts on the cause of not starting. i went to leave work this morning at 2am, and all it did was crank but would not fire up! i drove it to 2 stores, to pick up my daughter, then to work all with no issues. not even a hesitation! my dad spoke with a local Ford dealership and they said it prob wont be fuel pump, but maybe some modulator up by the spare tire. apparently it rots from corrosion and goes faulty. cost of part is around $180, but wont know for sure if this is the issue till i get it towed back to Barrie. Any thoughts or experience from fellow F-150 owners or mechanics?? is this common? the truck is a 4.6L, 4x4, with only 75,000km. thank you for your help! Jesse
  3. don't need it with the "franglais" !!!! hahaha "release la drag!" fantastic great vid, some real nice gators there!
  4. got it figured out, thanks to the search function. rod on the left is a Spiel Special!! got it's cherry broken on a nice whitie
  5. hit the lake this morning in search of whities. the mission started out around 8:30am from the west side. travel was good, the overnight temp tightened things up nicely. first spot we marked a few but nothing active. after an hour or so we made a move of many kms. the decision payed off well! about an hour after we got to the area, includng 2 moves, we were on fish. and we stayed on them for about 2 hours!! at the end of it all we landed 9 whities and a bonus laker right at the end! here's a couple pics, Cheers
  6. my ex's cousin (who i still fish with) bought this exact model (nanook thermal). i fished in it 6-7 times on simcoe and i was very content with the warmth it held! we ran the heater for the first 10-15 mins, then it was sweater temp for 3-4 hours. only beef with the unit is the weight. if you often fish alone, the this may be a little heavy to pull out by hand. i like my IceCube for these times. 12lbs, light, good for one guy and 2 lines. good luck with whatever you choose! can't wait for ice!!!!
  7. Dave Mercer, Canada's fishing funny-man, and all around nice guy, will be at Chapters this coming Sunday for a book signing! let's all show him how crazy Barrie is about fishing!!
  8. i don't have that one, but it looks good! last year i was in the same predicament, so i got a 10,000 btu single burner for the top of a 1 lb tank. heats my 2 man IceCube hut in a matter of minutes on high, and keeps it that way on the lowest setting for hours! and i always keep the door cracked 12" or so to let out the fumes. one tank lasted me 3-5 trips on simcoe, usually 3-5 hours a trip. $40 at CTC Jesse
  9. hi all, i'm looking for some recomendations, based on experience, for a guide on the ottawa river. looking at going next wednesday for the morning, like a 4 hour charter. bass, walleye, pike are the species i would be interested in. feel free to suggest a service and relate your experience. thank you, Jesse
  10. LUCKY!! i'ld be there every race weekend i could!! enjoy the race
  11. anyone else here a race nut like myself? this race weekend (the only Canadian stop for the series), has been an annual event for me for the past 7 years. the thunderous feel of the 40+ car field, with 4 classes of cars, the smell of race fuel, the parties every night afterwards, is simply awsome!! 4 days of camping and racing - other than 4 straight days of fishing - is a great way to end the summer and spend my holidays. anyone else on the board attending? hope to see you there! look for the roaring fire, and the tan F-150 blasting tunes Jesse
  12. you're pics are making me miss home!! been 2 years since i've been home and i can't wait to go next summer. taking my little girl to show her daddy's "stomping grounds" of Fredericton and the outskirts. spent 2 months a year for 6 years there with my grandparents after we moved to Ontario, best years of my life!!!!!.....BAR NONE!!!!!!! got the flag tatooed on my heart to prove it! thank you soooooooo much for the pics, really enjoyed them. is that a new highway thru Fundy with the pics of the rock cuts? Jesse from Lake George, N.B.
  13. good shootin Tony!! that double must have been heart-pounding fun!! me thinks you need another partner when your bro can't make it Jesse
  14. good write up Garry, informative. i just picked up my first couple packs of these and i'm wondering what rigging i should use for your techniques? weightless wacky, wheightless texas, weighted, etc. i have been bassin for a few years now but i'm completely green to Senko style baits. i picked up some weedless widegap 3/0, weighted 3/0, and offset shank 3/0 hooks so i should be covered. any comments would be great Jesse
  15. i purchased a rod and reel combo (my first baitcaster) from a fellow board member "vertigo" about 2 months ago. out of the blue, today while having a pint on the front porch, the mailman comes by with a bubble-wrap package. i cheers him, then procede to to open the envelope containing the original box, papers, oil, and wrench to go with my Cardiff 301A!!!! what a stand-up, true to his word guy!! thanks a million Nel, i shall "pay it forward" somehow, someway, to somebody! put a smile on my face for sure!! Jesse
  16. heading up in the morning for some pike fishing with my old man, just wondering if reports coming out of there are good or otherwise. we have been there 5-6 times before but this is the first trip there this year and it's a few weeks later than usual. thanks for any input Jesse
  17. there's a pretty rough, exposed, public access at the end of Park St. / Robins Point Rd. Just a short ride around Robins Point and you're in the bay. Launch my boat there a few times a year as one of my close buddies lives on Sturgeon Bay. when the wind picks up out of the West, some decent waves can crash in on ya. makes re-loading a PITA! the launch in town in Vic Harbour is decent, good luck. looking forward to a report when you return
  18. thanks pal! any contact info? i have a co-worker who lives in Orillia, prob pick it up for me. found this Rocky's Tackle Repair (CA) 3 Royce Ave. Unit 12 Orilla, ON L3V 5H8 Phone: (705) 325-3526 but also this from one of your old posts Irish (great name by the way) : Rocky's Tackle 10 Brammer Drive Orillia, Ontario L3V 7T4 705-325-3526
  19. just picked this up Friday from a fellow board member. while tearing down to adjust the weights, i seemed to have lost the little clip that goes onto the grooved shaft of the clutch bar pin. searched the garage on hands and knees for an hour with no luck. can anyone assist in finding this small but vital part??? i'm dying to chuck baits with my knew baby thanks in advance for any help offered. Jesse p.s. here's a link to the schematic for my reel http://fish.shimano.com/media/fishing/techdocs/en/CDF301A_v1_m56577569830556011.pdf
  20. got a copy recently in tha mail, and i'm wondering if the prices listed are in Canadian or American dollars? anyone know? i'm pretty sure the prices on the website, even the Canadian one, are American but don't know about the catalog. thanks, Jesse
