  4. looking for input from fellow members having experience with this unit. it's on sale this week at CT for $199. have one on hold to pick up before Thursday, but looking for input, good and bad. going on a 18' Princecraft, late 70's range, with a 60hp Johnson. looking for a pic to give you an idea, will post later. i think 40lb thrust transom mount should be fine for whitie/laker jigging, pike/bass excusions. thanks, Jesse ** can't get pic to load from photobucket of the boat...any help?**
  5. i got the 7' MH spinning last time they went on sale there for the same price. love it!! great for topwater bass and pike. lots of backbone to horse them out of the weeds and to the boat. also got a free one year subscription to Real Outdoors. Highly recomend Jesse

  13. hey all, i'm posting this question to inquire about some fishing opportunities with these areas in mind. i will be moving my younger sister back to Carleton U. on Labour Day weekend and am bringing my rod and some tackle with me to try and get in a few hours of fishing. wouldn't mind getting into a brooktrout or 2, i enjoy bass fishing and pike is one of my faves. i'm not at all familliar with these parts so any and all education is greatly appreciated. love the board guys, it gets me through some loooong 12 hr shifts on the weekends here at work!! thanks, Jesse
  14. actually the first thing dad said when we got this last year was "that oil injection has got to go!" so funny you should mention that. any info on how to disconnect would be appreciated. thanks for all replies guys, very helpful! Jesse
  15. can i get away with swapping the internals of the prop? the bearings and such? or do i need to buy a whole new assembly? i have all the old stuff from last year
  16. hey guys, I'm having some issues with my motor. we had it in the water for the first time yesterday after dealing with our electrical problem and ran into yet another. after putting far enough from the launch, i put the hammer down and the boat picked up nicely, got on plane, and we were on our way...for about 5 -10 seconds. then the speed dropped to less than half but the rpm's seemed to stay the same. i don't have a tach so not sure if they actually did remain the same but they didn't sound to drop. so we limped back to the launch, pulled, checked, and changed the plugs, fired up and tried again. for the rest of runs we tried, we couldn't reach anything close to half speed. just to give you some background on this motor --- mid 80's 60hp VRO, bought last year. had probs with the carbs after 2-3 trips, found stuck needles, rebuilt all 3. ran fine for the rest of the year. end of season, hit rock going full out, tore skeg, hole in lower unit, damaged prop. dad bought blown motor and had his friend install the lower unit. we stored for the winter. 4 weeks ago we finally got around to getting it ready for the opener, only to find it wouldn't start traced it back to loose and corroded wires. got that fixed, then noticed once running there was no water from the piss hole. tube from impeller was disconnected. last week we dropped the lower unit, reinstalled hose, good to go. motor was running great with the muffs on, shooting water, revving, changing gears, etc. that brings us to yesterday.... sorry for the long post but i wanted to give as much info as possible to you guys in the hope you can help me out. thanks, Jesse
  17. funny you mention about the re-hooking... i was out on Simcoe late Feb or early March 2008 and saw Italo nearby. he had his crew and all their gear out on the ice going after whitefish. they'd moved around the area a few times with no luck, and then he finally hooked into one. the cameraman couldn't get ready in time as he had traded his camera off for a rod, so when Italo got the fish up (an average 3-4 lb whitie), they laid it on the ice, shoved the Williams ice jig down its yap and fired it back down the hole. once down, he closed the bail and the "fight" ensued with commentary and all. watching fishing shows for me hasn't been the same since. everytime i watch one i can't help but ask myself "is this staged or legit?" i almost got him on my video doing this but my cold finger couldn't hit the record button fast enough. i only got fight #2 on film Jesse
  18. very nice fish! that big cat must have put up a nice fight. thanks for sharing

Jesse
