It's pikeslayer and his son-in-law, need I say more!
-
So true; the young boys go out and sit in the cold hoping to catch some. Us old men sit at home with our wives hoping to get some. In either case if you succeed it was a heck of a good day!

Thanks guys, I do use most of the above (as most of you know) but I have some friends here and they need all the help they can get LOL.

Tried everyone I can think of in the Lindsay area can't find anyone with pinhead minnows. Causeway Bait in Port Perry said they should have some in later this afternoon. Anyone know of anything closer?

Yes, we got lucky up here and missed the worst of it. I went down to the lake just to check things out, there is a lot of slush under that crust of ice. I was just watching the news and there are still thousands of people without power and they are saying it might be the weekend before everyone is back on the grid.

Have generator will loan if you need it.

Well, it isn't doing me any good just sitting here and I am sure there are plenty of people out there that would be glad to have it right now. There are still thousands of people without power and according to the Hydro One site some of them aren't going to be back up until tomorrow night. -
Just a thought and most of you would already know this but just in case: . My neighbor came over yesterday, his snow blower ran fine but when he engaged the auger it just made a grinding noise. Fortunatly he stopped as soon as he realized something was wrong. Turned out he had put it away without compleatly clearing all the slush from the impeller and it had frozen. I have seen them take the gear out of the differental when people do this and it is an expensive fix (the gear is worth anywhere from $60.00 to $80.00) so just make sure before you put your snow blower away that you make sure the impeller and auger are free of slush.

Darn the luck Beans, well, best we can do is hope for a full recovery. Do you need transportation to the hospital to see her? I could take you tomorrow if you need.

It looks like we are out of danger of loosing power here and I have a 6500 watt generator that I would be happy to loan to anyone that needs it. It is a big heavy one so you'd need a pickup or trailer but it is available if you can come and get it. I'd deliver it but a friend has my trailer and I don't have a truck. I realize that anyone needing it might not have internet access right now so if you know someone that is stuck or have been in touch via texting, just give me a call 705-328-0577

Two things; Norm, I just asked a favor from the big guy, keep us posted. Just spent 2 1/2 hours out there with the snow blower and shovel, as I put the snow blower away the freezing rain started again. I have a feeling we aren't out of the woods yet with regard to power outages.

Yes, and if the power is still on when he goes to work with those wire cutters, you'll even get a light show

That is only hydro one customers Roy. There are a lot of areas ie Toronto, Milton, etc that are not shown on the hydro one site. Parts of Lindsay were/are without power and that is just within the last hour. As of 5:30 this morning the weather network was showing 135,000 without power at that point, hydro one only listed about 50,000. We are getting heavy freezing rain here right now, I have a feeling the worst is yet to come.
-
LOL, I bought mine about 5 years ago when we went without power for 5 days. Haven't had to use it yet. Finally got into the Hydro One site and the number of people without power is climbing rapidly, there is still time Lew

Just tried to get into the hydro one storm center site, seems it is down. I'm thinking there must be a lot more people without power by now.
-
We just lost power here about 10 minutes ago but it came back on withing about 2 minutes. Hope it stays that way!
-
Sorry to hear about your grandaughter Norm. hope she gets well taken care of really quickly. Thanks for posting that link Bernie, just had a good look at it, they are now reporting about 135,000 customers without power and expect more to come. 5:00 am and all is well here so far, we were/are all prepaired just in case though. I thought we might loose our internet because we are on wireless but it is still hanging in there. Keep safe everyone.

I have been checked a couple of times now and they never asked for proof of age. When asked for a fishing license, I just say don't need one, I'm a senior. So far that has been fine.
-
No problem! If you do have any problem finding one just send me a picture of yours, I might have one in stock here and could get it down to you if necessary.
-
Any small engine shop should have them in stock, it is either a Zama or Walboro carb. Take the old diaphram with you so they can match it up properly.

I have a 6500 watt generator that will run my whole house if necessary (but it is noisy so we only run it for short periods) but we fill our bathtub with water for flushing toilets, make sure we have plenty of drinking water on hand and gather up all our solar lights that we use in the summer and make sure they are all charged up to use in place of candles. We have a gas fire place down stairs and a gas range in the kitchen so heating and eating are no problem. I also make sure my boat batteries are all charged up so I can hook an inverter to them if necessary, I don't like running my computer off the generator simply because the voltage out put on it isn't very stable, it might be fine but I don't want to take the chance. We do have storm lanterns that we can use too if we do need them and plenty of food in the freezer. We could survive quite comfortably for a week or two if we had to then it would be a matter of finding more gas for the generator.

Service Canada....definately not fishing...

Sorry Lew, should have thought that comment out a bit better! As with so many things today, there are good and bad in every walk of life! -

Went in this morning to get my plate sticker, got there at 8:20 and was told very bluntly to wait outside, they don't open until 8:30. at 8:32 someone came and opened the door, heaven forbid someone should start a few minutes early like we do in the private sector. If I could go back in time I'd have gone for a goverment job, little work, lots of money! -
Don't worry about it, I've been around this site since almost the beginning and I've been slapped on the wrist a time or two for giving up "secret" spots. Now I very seldom post fishing reports other than I went fishing with my buddies and we had a super day. I never post pictures anymore because I was told that they can have the lat/lon imbeded in the file information. Very different than when this site first started and you would post specifics because you wanted other people to come out and share the day. I think it's called evolution, not sure I like it though!

Sorry but that is a long drive for me too.
