I fished gar quite a bit , we simply used the loop side of Velcro cut into our preferred shape, think of a jig and pig, used a single hook to attach it, weight it depending on your depth needed and their teeth would hook up on the Velcro, sometimes we would use small split shot just above the hook and use them like a top water. Bowslayer , I remember 10 years ago they set traps up on the edge of our site and we watched a big fat raccoon enter the trap and eat 7 marshmallows without stepping on the plate, he then went to the next one and on the 4th mallow he tripped the trap, only saw 2 this whole trip along with the bear.

We fish gars using velcro, we cut the bottom portion of velcro which is the less furry part into cut bait size pieces(1" at the top cut back to a point about 3" long) put your hook through the top of the 1" side cast and retrive like you would a normal lure. The gar will chase it and when they hit it it will catch their teeth on the velcro. Works well!! We find white works best. Good Luck Backlash

bigredfisher This river has been on the net for the last 2 years, If you think this one post ruined the creek you're wrong. How did you find about it? Did you spend countless hours driving and scouting or was it a friend that told you?and that friend told you and how many others and so on.The pictures maybe should have had the background covered but there is many other factors why the rivers are so busy.I have fished the creeks for many years, 35 to be exact and have noticed the the crowds get more and more every year. Sit back and relax, drive and scout some new water and when you find the next honey hole remember and keep it to yourself. If you tell a friend I bet you in 2 years you will be right back here with the same problem. I was at a river the other day and watched a fellow angler land a huge Steelie in the same pool I was fishing,the fish had'nt been back in the water for more than 30 seconds and he was on the phone to his buddies giving directions to where he was. It's a never ending battle so get out and find yourself a new creek and don't forget! Don't tell anyone. Thanks Backlash

I have a couple of Records that I use on a regular basis. From drift fishing the Niagara for Steelhead to fishing Snook and Redfish in Florida.The reels have performed well under all conditions with no repairs or overhaul so far.The price sounds good as well.Good Luck! Jamie

Have enjoyed reading the posts for quite a while now and thought maybe it was time to introduce myself and help contribute to the board. I live out east and am an avid Steelheader spring and fall, Salmon in Lake Ontario in the summer and ice fishing in the winter.
