Hi guys an opportunity has come up to buy the lot next door to my cottage - it has a very old cottage which is structurally unsafe, I know there are caveats (It is wood build 30's) any idea of costs to demolish and take away approx 1300 sqfoot cottage - this is in Kawartha's - if someone wants to do it also interested Thanks John

great offer but wifes birthday and mothers day .....think getting that worked out is too much looking forward to lloyd trip later in season

Sorry i also missed a step if you are really going to upgrade in 5-10 years why not save the 2K a year and rent out the property after ten years - use any capital appreciation plus mortgage paydown to use as deposit on next place. Dont over extend but you could end up with a nice income stream and properties that you could live in (Too many investors buy property they would never live in which is a massive mistake)> If you think this way you wont do dumb renos which never get a return
-
This has some great points - pay biweekly on day you get paid. Dont use the mortage ever to buy consumer goods - take a portioned fixed as rates are at a historical low level and residual variable enough so you can smash it down. The second part is tough for me - 2K a year good plan but really any good, i am against this - as after 5 years it is a dated reno anyway and a poor investment in a great deal of cases too many people invest in their properies and would have made it regardless as markets change. If you took the opposite view and put in RRSP at 5% the 2K a year inclusive or reinvesting tax return and compound would be worth a significant chunck. IE Year 1 invest 2K for 22 years at 5% is almost6K Not sure better off doing zero getting lessor gain - or spending 60K now probably the later means all new vs dated?

These were in Aust before I left no infalted tag in fact were really the cheap model - salt water tough as all hell. I had one for six years - still remeber it well. Maybe it was my first boat and motor

Was all pumped to be out fishing today - check out cottage and meet up with friends on big bald lake. Had to not go as daughter is ill (No fun with pukey child at cottage). Anyone else feeling like a cooped up chicken at the moment? Looking forward to all the pictures and stories later living vacariously by everyone out there today. Whats the best way to overcome the winter blues? Top answers I am going to go do

add me in slowpoke thank you

I got this from another forum I am sure people will have different opinions but I think it all comes down to the changes in configurations in last five year before the 10% ethanlol junk. Fuel stabilizer may or may not be compatible, I think you should drain it just to be safe. Not all fuel stabilizers are compatible with ethanol fuels. Fuel storage and winterization has to be handled differently when using E-10 fuels. Manufacturers are warning that fuels need to be stabilized if un-used for as little as 2 weeks. Not all stabilizers are known to be E-10 compatible. Non-alcohol based fuel stabilizer additives are a must for ethanol fuel. Fuel bought at the pump has ethanol in it. Junk fuel. ethanlol is basically alcolhol which evaporates and causes other problems.

Gday all - I have a mate coming over in August 2011 to experience Canada - looking forward to loads of fishing, He sent me the following email around what he wants to pick up while he is here. I thought I would seek your advice because he is asking me and i have some opinion but normally everyone here likewise has some great ideas and directions. So here it is note he lives in Sydney and does a great deal of spinning of the rocks for salmon, tuna, tailor and king fish •Keep an eye out for a nice surf/spin outfit. Say a St Croix Mojo surf spin in 11' med heavy which I can use for my bait rod as well. Maybe the MSS110MHMF2. Happy to have an equivalent in a Lamiglas but criteria is most definitely must be a lightweight graphite (to old to spin with a heavy glass blank). I would love the St Croix Legend in the LSS110MHMF2 or the LSS106MHMF2 but with a retail of US450 this would have to be seriously on sale. More likely the Mojo at around $240 even if not on sale...or whatever else fits the bill. I am not as fussed on the reel, but don't want anything that weighs a ton and it does not have to be massive. I will be fishing this largely with braid and should hold say 300metres of 30 pound braid, have a good drag, decent retrieve ratio and be saltwater compatible. Budget a couple of hundred here. Happy to have carbonex drag upgrades in this. So what does everyone think? Thank you so much as always.

I just want to share a good story - we all see and hear the bad ones here. As most have seen my posts I fish for muskie and am learning I purchased a Tackle industries Hairy Plopper for muskie fishing for last weekend of season (Dont ask!) Two times with different lures cast retrieve - prop comes off. Pretty damn unimpressed. Send a note to tackle industries at 9PM on the Sunday back from cottage expect auto reply to email - get a reply from james approx 10 minutes later asking me what happened. He said must be issue with the batch and indicates will send me new blades to correct and tells me what to do when they arrive. Got the blades today with instructions and apology including a gift - This is better customer service then my firm can do - I will use as an example at next Execs meeting. Awesome - I dont normally thank people for doing what is right but these guys did Look forward to all the posts in the ice season and am going to give it a go this year John C
