  1. I use Opti2 Full Synthetic oil mixed at the oil manufacturers recomended ratio (around 100:1).

This works in all my 2 stroke motors.

Synthetics are way better, less smoke, no plug fouling, smoother running, higher reving.

The Amsoil Sabre full synthetic is another excellent choice.

  2. Are they perchance cheaper than the Bad Boyz jigs. I went to buy some Bad Boyz on Friday, at $4.99 each, I only bought one.

That's cheap compared to the price of them up here. Last month I bought 5 Badd Boyz jigs at the tackle shop in towm and the total with GST (we don't have PST here) was $27. Either you want to catch fish or sit on the side lines!!!!!!! ;)

FYI The Blue fox jigs are usually a little less $$$$$$$$

  3. Drifter, that's a great rig you set up there! How many rpm's you getting on that thing? My buddy down here did the same kind of set up but he hooked up his motor to a light swich dimmer and a wall socket to vary his rpm's.

    FHR

Top speed is somewhere around 1000 rpm or so.

It worked out well making it out of a couple of old makita 7.2 volt drills (the ones that you couldn't remove the batteries) Motor in the head stock and just a chuck and bearings in the tail stock.

  4. Dominion of Canada

year round for my 16.6 and 30hp

I'm pretty sure that's who held my policy through Meadowvale Ins. Brokers.

I had my boat insured with them since new with full coverage and it was covered for the full purchase price.

I paid just over $300/year for my 18 footer w/90 hp + trailer, trolling motor and electronics.

  5. Well,

I picked up my new Terrova 80lbs 24volt 54" shaft with auto pilot and universal sonar 2 + the copilot. I can't wait to install this thing!

I'm going from 36lbs thrust to 80lbs should see a big difference :)

For anybody that is wondering BPS price matched LeBarons Catelogue price

I'm looking to replace my old Autopilot 865mx with one of these bad boys!!!! :D

  6. My GAWD MAN!!!! you went outside in -18 temps!!!!

I love it when it warms up that high in my neck O the woods.

Seriously, I was camping in a tent last weekend at -13. :w00t:

I used to love ice fishing in that area, always came home with a good feed of perch.

Spent a lot of time in my youth fishing through those holes. :D

  7. All you guys that ice fish in the minus 20 to 40 range are nuts and I mean that with the utmost respect!LOL

Anything colder than minus 10 and I am staying indoors.

If I waited for it to get above -20 to go out I wouldn't see the lake between November and March!!!!

I'm getting out this weekend for the first time because we have had below average temps for the last 8 weeks!!!

During that time the average daytime high has been in the -30 range.

This Sunday we are supposed to hit +1!!!! :thumbsup_anim:

    Going camping this weekend!!!!

There ain't no Nookie like a Chinookie!!!!!! :clapping:

  8. Drifter. The oil was changed Oct 31st 2008 and only 600 km on it.

And synthetic oil would make no difference to the amount of water.

If it was changed only 600km ago and looks like that, there are other issues with that engine.

That is unless the owner ran the engine for 2 min. then let it cool, run for 2 min and let cool 10,000 times in 3 months.

You are right about synthetic and amount of water, however the synthetic is a more robust oil that will protect your engine better than conventional oil in extreme situations. I think that case is pretty extreme. ;)
