Logged on this morning and I'm back to this old skin that I have to double click to go back!!!!!!

So I went back to see if there was anything else I could buy today.

Of course there was!!! I loaded up on some Blue Fox Rattle Spoons, Jigging Raps, a couple of spools of Power Pro Ice Line, a rod and reel combo and a Quantam rod. I go to check out and the bill comes to $62, sweet I think, nice haul. I pull out some cash to pay the lad running the checkout and he gives me my change and CT $$$ plus an extra $10 in CT $$$ because I spent more than $40 on March 10th or 11th.

So my $125 worth of ice fishing goodies actually cost me $52!!!!!

One of my old guests up at the lodge I worked at used to spend time hand lining spoons on copper wire.

His biggest on a hand line was I think 36#. He hooked bigger but was unable to land them on a hand line.

LeBarons, The Fishin'Hole are two I have used.

There's also Cabelas.ca located in Winnipeg. It's was S.I.R. located in the Peg, which was bought out by Cabelas a couple of years ago.

Then three weeks later you have to winterize it again....

Then he rubbed in the fact that it was -45 up here this morning.

Get into Canadian Tire, they got their 1/2 off clearance sale on now.

New blades will be about $11 and if they don't have blades they might have an auger.

They were $50 something when I was in on the weekend.

If they have the blades get 2 sets!!!!!

get a rain check and they will sell it to you at the sale price when stock does come in.

Yep, So they say. I got a rain check for thier Frabil Trecker Flip Over.

We'll see if they honor it.

It was a balmy -47 when I got up yesterday and -45 this morning!!! We are short on open water right now.

Hopefully parts will be accesible for tecumseh engines for a long time as they went under back in December, After so may decades the U.S. company could no longer compete with china made engines. So most of the power augers next year by jiffy and strike master will be considerally less expensive due to the new chinese engines. That being said there engines are very relaible, as long as there maintained. CDn tire is loosing alot of dollars on every auger so by them up.

Shouldn't be an issue as they were bought out last month.

Well if you ever wanted an ice auger.. now's the time to track one down. ALL 6 power models they carry are on sale at 1/2 price as are all hand augers.. every single one they carry. Sale is already on... a day early, so stuff may be sparse by tomorrow.

My store up here in Yellowknife doesn't have any power augers but they do have a bunch of hand augers as well as a one man polar express shelter and a 2 man ice cube. Errrrrr I mean used to have a 2 man ice cube. Can't go wrong for $130 +GST.

Now tomorrow I will return the one man polar express shelter I bought at the beginning of the season for $105 +GST.

There is nothing wrong with the one man, it's just too small.

And, expect the US dollar to drop substantially in the future. Prices are deflating right now, but the US is in for big time inflation....which means their dollar should drop against ours.

Hopefully before my annual month long pilgrimage to Alaska in September. It would be nice to have a strong Looney and reasonable (compared to 2008) gas at the same time.

At one station in the Northern Rockies I paid $1.799/liter last September!! For you Yanks, that's $6.80 Canadian/ Gallon!!!!

Well I reported this to the mnr and got a reply today. They want to know if I have a copy of the youtube video as they captured it, but the link was broken so now they don't have it anymore.

What I'm trying to figure out is if the US is that much worse off than Canada why is our dollar so weak compared to theirs.

Those pointing fingers are providing less hands in getting this economy back on track.
