  1. I used to fish it as well but would go down at the whirlpool, fish there and then fish my way down stream eventually walking back up at the hydro stairs. I would do this most of the time as it gets you away from the crowds at the whirlpool and you get to fish different water.

  2. in their news at 6 today, they stated the fishing season is officially over today.

I sent an email correcting them that permanent ice huts have to be off simcoe today, some fish seasons close today but you can still ice fish with a portable hut and you can fish from shore or fish from a boat if you want,

they sent me a reply\thanks we are correcting that report

and sure enough they corrected it at the end of the news

    well

    my job is done..LOL

they do that every year, but this is the first time that I did something about it.

    Fixed it for ya Terry.

Now my work is done. :tease: :tease: :tease:

  3. Most carburetted freshwater boats can get by without a water separator if you're careful with 2 things; your fuel source, and your fuel filler cap gasket/o-ring. If you also avoid e-10 fuel, you're even better off.

If you decide you want to install a spin-on Racor as was linked to earlier, beware that for gas boats (as opposed to diesel) you want the model with the metal separator bowl. The plastic bowl is not rated for gas (petrol) mounted inside a boat's hull.

As an aside, I have a Yamaha 25 2-stroke on a RIB. Its fuel can looks like this:

    outboard_motor_spare_parts_Fuel_tank.jpg

These caps allow rainwater into the tank if you leave them exposed to weather with the vent unscrewed (open). I'll bet others do too.

Actually the plastic bowls are gasoline rated.

The model I posted is for gasoline engines.

The metal bowl is rated for inboard motors while the plastic bowl is rated for outboards.

The reason being is the inboard model is mounted inside the hull and per regulation needs to be fire rated.

  4. Looking forward to trying DuraCast line on a new rod/reel. According to their website 6lb is 2 lb equivalent and breaks at 13lbs. Weird. Comes in green or yellow. I've been using Nanofil this season for ice fishing and have no complaints except that it is snow white. It too has low water retention. Some ice still forms but it busts off easily. For softwater I hope to give Seaguar Senshi a try. Now where to find either of these lines in Canada.

I got my Duracast from Phil @ etackle.ca

  5. Thanks for all the input , I ended up ordering the garmin echo 150, the reviews I read were all good and should do fine. Best buy had it for 99.98 , who knew best buy had fish finders lol

    That will work.

Personally I would have spent the extra for the Echo 200 and it's larger, higher resolution screen. But the 150 will do the trick for sure.

    Have fun with it.

  6. Stop being a sheep.. You've blinded by Toyota loyalty if you think there were never any unintended acceleration issues.

If Toyota was so innocent, why did they settle? :whistling: :whistling: :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

A friend at work had their car accelate by it's self while backing inot a parking spot. idling into the spot with foot resting on the brake and it accelerated into the vehicle behind them.

  7. Wont see the suckers for atleast another month. All you need for bait is worms or even bread! I have caught quite a few 5-6 pounders on leftover pizza crust! Just use an egg sinker and leave your bait right on the bottom they will come for it

Kind of hard to cast that stuff with a fly rod though. ;)

Suckers will take pretty much any dark coloured fly from stones to nymphs to small beadhead buggers. :good: :good:

    Rainbows will too. ;)

You will find them showing up in the next few weeks as the water warms.

  8. I have one that would fit the bill Dave. I can deliver,if you will pay air charges?Me and the reel.Return trip is up to me.:w00t:

    Right!!!

Stuff yourself into a cardboard box with one of these Shimano CTE-401's and drop yourself off at the post office and I'll pay for the postage as long as it's not more than a hundred bucks. ;)
