  1. Just an idea. I went to Kijiji and searched 'cube van'. Got several in the $2,300. range. Oldies but goodies and if you guys are mechanically inclined you can check em out. Buy one and when to the east coast sell it.

Sales pitch would be something like... "Just drove it here so she works good!"

One was a 1884 Ford 350 cube with 116,000 km with all kindsa new stuff that the seller says is being sold becouse he's selling his business. Black and has a sharks smile but ugly is good cuz nobody steals ugly. LOL!

Seriously, say $3,000 or less investment and recoup most of it when done with it. I know people who have been very successful doing this with cars when they came from out west.

That's what I did when I moved my stuff from Ontario to the NWT.

I paid $5500 for the truck spent $1500 on gas and sold the truck for $6500 up here.

The net cost was $500 for gas plus the cost of a hitch to pull my boat and cerification/plating etc.

The move really only cost me in the area of $1000.

U-Haul wanted $5000+ for the truck rental plus the gas it woud have cost me $7K+ for the move.

  2. Nonis made a deal. :D

Another tough D-Man for a 4th round pick.

Dave Nonis, Senior Vice-President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Wednesday that the hockey club has acquired defenceman Ryan O’Byrne from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a fourth round draft pick in the 2014 Entry Draft.

O’Byrne, a 6-5, 234-pound defenceman, played 34 games for Colorado this season registering one goal, three assists and 54 penalty minutes. He ranks second on the Avalanche in hits (76), third in penalty minutes and fourth in blocked shots (49). Last season he played in a career-high 74 games and led Colorado in blocked shots (141) and finished second in hits (180).

The 28-year-old native of Victoria, British Columbia has played in 300 career NHL games with Colorado and Montreal collecting 37 points (4 goals, 33 assists) and 363 penalty minutes. He has also played in 19 career NHL playoff games. In 2007, he won a Calder Cup championship with the American Hockey League’s Hamilton Bulldogs.

O’Byrne was originally Montreal’s fourth choice, selected 79th overall in the 2003 Entry Draft.

  3. I have a soft spot for almost any fishing in BC. The Big Coast is mainly about downrigging with mooching gear but sometimes they go old school with many pulls and heavy sinkers. I much prefer rivers but they they frequently fish Barkley Sound Broken Islands Group part of Pacific Rim NP. I proposed to my wife on a fish/camping trip out on Turret Island. Those Big Coast guys have a wicked little floating cottage in one of the bays. The vistas and wildlife are amazing. I could retire/move there one day.

It's a good one but my favorite BC show is Sport Fishing on the Fly.

Awesome lake and river fishing. :good: :good:

  4. Got out today for a little fishin'.

Weather was typically horrible for this time of year in YK. ;)

Fishing was slow and the bites were very light but I did manage to get tomorrow's dinner. :D

The one downer on the day was that when we got to the lake and I hauled the auger out of the sled I found that the bottom gear case cover on my auger was broken. :(

I had to leave my toboggan and my buddy behind while I ran the 25 or 30 kms back to the house to get my backup powerhead. Now I need to search ebay for a replacement gear case cover or gear case. <_<

  5. Take a single sided razor blade and lay it parallel to the blank on top of the guide foot.

Cut the thread/finish going towards the leg of the guide.

Then the guide will come off easily.

You should then be able to peel most of the finish/thread off with your fingers.

If you need to remove any left over finish lightly heat the area with a heat gun and scrape with the edge of a popsicle stick.

    Eazy peazy!!!! ;)
