  1. Out West the price of gas has risen quite a bit as of late.

They are saying it is due to the dollar being down (oil sands crude is refined in the US) and the fact one of the big Western oil sands refineries has had an unexpected shutdown for repairs.

And to make things worse the crude wholesalers have not lowered their prices so the refineries are still paying high prices for crude.

Also most of the wholesalers also have refineries so they are using the extra profit from the sale of crude to offset the lower crude prices.

It's a load of crap as far as I'm concerned. :(

Good article on why we are getting screwed!!

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Friday that the hockey club has hired Jacques Lemaire as a special assignment coach. Lemaire spent the past six seasons with the New Jersey Devils organization as a head coach (2009-10, 2010-11) and most recently as a special assignment coach.

Lemaire, 69, has coached more than 1,200 games between Montreal, New Jersey and Minnesota. The LaSalle, Quebec native is an 11-time Stanley Cup champion – winning eight times as a player, twice as an assistant general manager and once as a head coach. Lemaire is a two-time winner of the Jack AdamsTrophy as the NHL’s coach of the year and also won an Olympic gold medal with Team Canada while serving as an assistant with head coach Mike Babcock.

“Obviously Jacques Lemaire has a wealth of experience. We had a great relationship from the 2010 Olympics and I’ve asked him to join our staff to help me and the rest of our coaches within the entire organization be the best they can be,” said Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock.

As a player, Lemaire spent his entire NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens. He’s a former two-time NHL all-star and one of only six NHL players to have scored two Stanley Cup winning goals. Lemaire was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1984.

  3. Over the years I have caught many lakers over 20#'s in Lake O.

Back in the 90's when the Ganny had epic fall laker runs due to the stocking there it was not uncommon to get several over 20 in a few hours in the evening. Also have caught lots in Western Lake O but the biggest (in the mid 30's) came off Pt. Credit in August after a North blow.

Having said that, compared to our Arctic Lakers they fight like wet socks!!! :tease: :tease: :tease:

  4. Was on my local trader site earlier today and came across a prop that should work well on my rig.

Brand new Mercury High Five stainless prop (painted finish).

    12 3/4" 20P for 75-125HP outboards.

    Oh yeah, the price?

    $140!!!! :clapping: :good: :good: :thumbsup_anim:

  5. Man that sucks!!! :(

It's one of the things I worry about when I have my pooch out at the lake.

There are plenty of wolves and bears in the area.

My neighbour told me he saw a dozen on the ice there this past winter.

Every time he goes off exploring I worry.

Usually he just walks up to the neighbours cabin 300 yards away but he has gone close to a mile around the bay before.

  6. I was thinking the same thing lol.Doesn't bad weather start in September/October?.

Freeze up is in mid October.

Need to be done by the end of September so I can catch the epic laker and pike bite that happens in October. :D

No joist hangers at the tie ins? Just asking, maybe not required, I really don't know. We have always had then engineered and built off site.

    Not needed or required Ironmaker.

  7. If I were you Dave I would light a match to that thing and start over and do it right. Or win the Lotto Max, finish it and donate that mess to all OFC members. Yea, I like that plan. By the way when is the first OFC G2G up there in God's country? I think I can rough it in that "Cabin" for a few months.

I really wish I had known about this DIY project before. My sis-in-laws closest friend is a Sr. Producer with Shaw Media. I was telling sis about this and she peeked into your thread. She said they would have jumped on this for a new reality show that is actually quite un real.

That's all I would need, a film crew slowing me down to a crawl!!! :tease::tease::tease::tease:

  8. Got my 4 gable rafters up and in position.

Took longer than expected as I had to work to get my master rafter fitting properly.

Lots of up and down the scaffolding with a 16' 2X10 testing and marking.....................

The good news is the rafters all fit perfectly.

Time for dinner and then see how many I can get done after dinner.

Except he lets me know when Yogi is in the hood!!! ;)

Cleaned up all my construction debris and whipped up a set of temporary stairs for gettin' in and out of the crib!!!

No more climbing the ladder to get in and out. :thumbsup_anim:
