  1. I have to agree with your first post, fishdawg. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the record came from Quinte. Although I agree with Marc T on his thread, the anomaly factor needs to figure in there as well. All it takes is one fish to become the next WR and it could surface in the same manner the smallie record was caught. Somewhere no-one expected and therefore didn't fish them. The only difference is that I think the next WR musky will come from a big body of water, not a small inland lake like the smallie was.
  2. Beauty pike, snag!
  3. No problem ccmt! I wont forget! GBAY, the bow kinda became the garbage bin, and moosehead is good
  4. Thanks pt. I posted in another thread about the weight difference between the alum and wood. The aluminum braces weigh roughly 1/3 of the same braces made of wood. if anything the boat will be even more stable in rough water. Either way, the major framework is done now. The only extra weight will be from the plywood and carpet. Thanks again .
  5. Absolutely Clampet. I've already started wondering what I'm going to say to my wife when she finds me sleeping in it
  6. Started work on the rear casting platform getting the frame ready. Kinda tricky as I was really limited on aluminum, but ended up with the right measurements... I used cutoffs to make a support bracket under the beams and bolted them together... Got home today and was motivated to trick out the front end abit. I had in mind to have storage in the front, but now theres going to be a smaller compartment. I found these lying around the other day... make a notch... Et VOILA! Spinnerbait compartment.
  7. I'd rather be able to fish all the time than fish for a living. For the very reason others said, I wouldn't want it to become"Just a job". I highly doubt that fishing would become just a job, I love it too much. But I won't take that chance.
  8. Welcome to the board. I'm sure there are guys out your way that can help you.
  9. JBs carries the Esox Cobra jig. Other styles, I don't know. I tried the Storm baits without much success.
  10. Congrats, CC, I knew you'd find it sooner or later. WTG!
  11. Resting after a portage. Algonquin. Good Times
  12. lickmyampit Primus sucks You beat me to it!
  13. Primus has a few good'uns. John the Fisherman, Fish on and Old Diamondback Sturgeon are all great tunes. Taj Mahal "Fishin' Blues" is my personal fav. Cronzys version isn't nearly as good. We always ended up hearing "The Wizard" on fishing trips, so kind of adopted it as a trip song.
  14. I just started rebuilding the front casting deck on my 14fter for the reason GBay said. Too much weight in the front. So I am replacing the wood supports with aluminum brackets and tubing... It takes awhile and the aluminum is expensive, compared to lumber. But it weighs roughly a third and is way more rigid. Also, I'm going to put a rear deck in as well. So I felt that the extra cost of the aluminum was worth it for longevity and performance. Heres some pics, hope this helps!
  15. I drive to and from the cottage with a 14ft behind on a regular basis. My "tow vehicle" is a Chevy Cavalier. The only thing I recommend is give yourself more room than you think you need between you and the guy in front of you. Stick to the lower gears and drive the speed limit. You'll get people passing you with choice words on busy days, but better to be safe than sorry.
  16. Thanks pigeontroller. I don't have much luck with the gill hold and all the larger fish that I got didn't seem to have a problem being held by the tail. I just make sure the head is over the water incase they freak out. You're right, though. The gill hold makes for much better shots. Thanks again. BTW, Doctrt, thats a BEAUT!
  17. I only really started focusing on Muskie last year, but had good numbers. this is my PB so far. 42.5in fork length w/18in girth.
  18. I've got some modifications to do to the boat, probably start this weekend. New front and rear casting decks, carpet. After that, its lakers, pike, trout, whatever. PUMPED!
  19. Summers on the way boys ! GENTLEMEN SHARPEN YOUR HOOKS!!!!
  20. Nice looking Steel. Well done.
  21. Solid laker, man! WTG
  22. Makes me think of that scene in "The Big Lebowski" when John Goodman goes to toss "Donnys" ashes over the cliff facing into the wind hilarious!
  23. That pic is the WR from Germany. The one out of New York is almost 10lbs off the mark... undefined Here is the link.
  24. I once asked the same question to a buddy of mine that works at Rapala. He said take only that one style of lure with you when you head out. That will give you no option but to figure out how to use it properly. I kind of improvised on this and would take the whole box with me and use my go-to lures to find active fish and then switch to the lesser used bait and try and figure out what to do to intice a bite. Sometimes it works and I find this method a little better if you're limited on time. A good tip is to watch fishing shows and keep a close eye on the technique and type of area the guys are using with any given bait. Fishing mags too. Theres more than enough info out there to make your next trip a memorable one! Good luck!
  25. I think that if Couture can get inside Silvias reach and lay some Roman -Greco on him, Sylvia will be in for a long night. On the othewr hand, if Sylvia can keep his distance, Randy will get dropped ala Liddel/couture 2+3. I wont be surprised if Franklin and Hughes both lost. But I also wont be surprised if they both win. Both guys are coming back from not just losses, but complete destruction. So who knows, they'll either come back strong , or timid. I do hope MacDonald wins.
