  1. The darned sandwiches are soggy Whaddya mean I can't have a good stiff drink out on the water! Having to share sponsorship with some lesser angler Worse yet, being roped into being on the Charlie Moore show
  2. Any time and all the time. It's good anytime you get out and breath the free air.
  3. Ignore the 30 seconds of rambling from the fiddler. Just close yer eyes and think back to them simple days of CBC on the black and white, and the sweet smell of home cooking wafting from the kitchen as the lasts moments of the show were played on the fiddle and the ladies twirled. Brought a tear just to hear that old waltz and the images it conjures up.. First time I finally found it. Anybody here remember the show?
  4. Local fish are a regular part of the diet, and yes, I do "try" to stay within the MOE guideline. Some tough decisions to make. Heavy metals in northern fish. Industrial chemicals in southern fish. Hormones and steroids in the chicken. Salmonella in the veggies, tainted beef, or e coli in the drinking water. If we listen to all the fearmongers, we should all go back to subsistence farming or starving to death. ( We do grow and process a lot of what we eat)
  5. With a tease like that, I hope you got room for 20-30 tents on your lawn
  6. I have a blast fishing perch from shore down in Hammy town
  7. Maybe we needs to run us a convoy down to Hogswaller. Got to meet the Dawg one of these days.
  8. The yanks have always hated playing hide and seek with the DE's and DDE's and DDH's in the past.
  9. Naval vessels have been towing a kind of 'downrigger' for decades. Great for finding submarines.
  10. I grew up there, and the holes I fished 30 and 40 years back still produce.
  11. They have a great cardiac team there. Your son is in good hands. May all turn out well for your family.
  12. It's about time there Dawg. Been slackin off, eh?
  13. It's a big lake. Lots of arms, bays etc... Don't bother on a weekend. Noise and boat traffic is plain stupid, but Tuesday to Friday.... Fishing has improved greatly in 25 years. The farther from the park, the better the fishing gets. Great bass and pike action.
  14. I like Rapala, Rebel and Cordell. They have all produced good product.
  15. Yeah, he's a loudmouth. Big Deal. So he likes to eat fish. I believe every angler should include a frying pan as an integral part of their fishing gear.
  16. The water bottle is just part of the debris left behind by weekend warriors every weekend.
  17. Before my Anna goes away for more medical treatment, she wanted to share some fishing time. So off to the local pond this morning. A lot of panfish biting to keep her busy. A couple of snotters came to play. We even had some bass action. I'm glad we had the time together. House will be kinda empty without her home.
  18. The trailer is covered under automotive. Not mandatory, but wise to get boat insurance. Full coverage on my side console runs $25-30 a month. Includes Fire , theft, damage and collisions plus $1 million for public liability.
  19. If it is morning sun, the hostas will be fine. The grasses will be fine with 6 hours of light.
  20. Looks good gang. You also left your plants enough room to spread and fill out naturally. There is a nice variation in texture, colour and height. Question: How much light will your garden receive, and when in the day wil it receive it? I see shade plants combined with sun lovers.
  21. Good choice Gerritt. Canoe rentals, the concrete pond. Lots of fishing in the park or down the road in town or port maitland. A mini- putt at the Grand Island BBQ for a diversion. I've had cubs and their families at Byng for a family camp. It's a nice place.
  22. Wtg in toughing it out. persistence pays.
  23. Some nice fish there. Thanks for sharing.
  24. Try the list of GRCA campgrounds, you might be surprised www.grandriver.ca/Camping/camping.cfm
