  1. I feed my family and help to feed my grandchildren. I have to watch every penny of my food dollar. If there is a mistake on their part and I can benefit, so be it. As Loonietoon said, there are reasons they don't put price tags on items any more. I only shop for the best bang for my buck. I am fortunate to be able to buy good quality meat for great prices. I'm still physically able to grow a lot of our own produce. What I don't grow I buy direct from farmers. It means a little more work and effort but I spend half of what others pay at the supermarkets. What I do buy at the grocery store is on special and we stock up.

  2. Pay attention to flyers.

Buying in bulk sometimes costs more, know unit prices, you can get the item cheaper buying single.

Use your CTC Master Card Options card any place you shop, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. you get CTC money, other day I checked I had over $200.00 in CTC money :clapping:

Other day I got Boneless Blade Roast at Lococo's $299 Lb. Stewing beef was $7.00 a Lb. Chop the roast up for stew.

You'd be surprised people will say I only want stew meat. :worthy::wallbash:

I've found Gas is the same price at costco as on the Rez.

"Salt Cod pieces is lest than half the price of whole salt Cod, NOW that you made me hungry BRO"

Fish and brews tonight Bro :clapping:

It all boils down to knowing your prices.

Ain't it the truth. More important is to know the regular list price of the products. All too often the sale price is so much off the "manufacturers suggested sale price". , which is more than the actual retail price. You end up saving nothing.

  3. From the summary

"if they are: 1. Residents of Ontario and Canada under 18 years old, or 65 years of age or older and in possession of any licence, permit, certificate or identification card issued by the Government of Canada or a provincial or territorial government of Canada that indicates their name and date of birth."

You just need to carry federal or provincial ID showing date of birth.

  4. Was there today. Ran into Mike at his booth. Caught Calvin trying to rummage through my backpack for lures and beer  The main goal was to entertain the grandaughters, and that worked well. They had fun casting, shooting ( Daylilah is one trigger happy little imp), making a lure, and lots of other stuff. They even came home with 4 lures from the casting pond. The girls had a lot of fun, and that makes the show worth the price of admission.

  5. What are you flogging at the Hamilton show Bruce? We plan to be there too, hopefully only window shopping but that I doubt. We should have a set time for a OFC mini G2G at the snack bar at the Bassmasters show.

The son and I have been making tackle for a number of years now. I also end up delivering orders for salsa while I'm there.

  6. All the fishing shows and swaps all pile in around March break.

The son and I are again doing the Ft Erie show, as we have done for nearly 10 years. March 12th

We will also be back at the Hamilton Bassmasters swap, for our 6th year, in Ancaster. March 25th.

We are busy at it trying to get ready while making sure we fill our orders first.

Ugliboys isn't big enough to play in the big shows yet.

Don't be afraid to stop by , say hello, chew the fat.

  7. The key problem across Ontario, let alone the Ganny, is a lack of enforcement and deterrence. I applaud the efforts of the MNRF's ground staff, but 2 CO's for a large area just does not provide adequate coverage. More importantly, our fine structure is a joke. Look south of the border where fines start are routinely issued at $500 per offence. In Florida poaching can get you 60 days. Texas levies fine upward of $10,000. And they all just love confiscation of property. You also pay all court costs. Some state fisheries depts . recover 10% and more from fines.

I just shake my head when I read about court imposed fines less than $200

  8. The biggest problem is the precedent being set. Another tax grab where every conservation authority begins demanding an additional license to fish their waters The Grand River Conservation Authority looked at this possibility a few years back, Next in line would be numerous municipalities. NOTL only allowed residents with permits to fish public lands within their municipality. Thankfully it has since been repealed. How many others might follow suit.

We would just be like England with 100's of jurisdictions each demanding their own fee.
