Pretty good for a Fin. I'm no better just ask Albert.

I had to learn to speak Italian. Reading and writing was not a requirement. The paese lifestyle is what I remember best. The families worked together, shared, and were only too happy to teach a mange cake like me.

  2. I love making a scratch lasagna dinner once a year for an extended family meal. If I'm putting in that much effort it might as well be for a larger audience. The meat mix is never the same as sometimes there is  venison or moose or bear in the mix.  And there are never any leftovers.

  3. As I had posted earlier I was displaying our goods at the Niagara Outdoor Show. Saw some folks, sold some goods an put on some pounds by show's end.  As we are packing up at day's end, the son drops a display board square across my toes.  Despite wanting to curse and swear, I had to bite my tongue. The grandkids were standing right there.  Finish packing, haul the goods home, then spend 5 hours in Emerg to tell me the obvious. I have a broken toe, and they can't do anything til next morning. Wait another two hours this morning to get fitted for a boot.

Guess I can have some down time at home.

NO FISHING!!!!!! Disney World has world class Largemouth in those ponds. I caught a few many years ago, when I was young and handsome. As for towing around those beauties for what I know you paid you could have had a fly in trip to Lynn Lake MN. And by the way, no cheating selling your wares with one of those cuties in your arm, no cheating Bruce. Hope to see you there. I'll remember to bring some tip money for your little helpers.

Disney no longer allows you to fish the waters around your hotel. You have to book one of their charters at $270 for 2 hours.  And of course my bellas will be with me.

Are you going to be at the Swap in Ancaster this month B.? I'm sure you will. I need some of those miracle jigs to flip to my buddies.

By the way how much work did you get done down in FLA? I know I didn't get a lick of work done when we were down.

Of course i'll be at Ancaster.  As for fishing down in FLA, it did not happen. No time in Disney towing around two very excited grandaughters.  The charter in Clearwater cancelled last minute with mechanical problems

  6. Since getting back from Florida, I've been swamped with trying to get ready for the Niagara Outdoor Show on Mar 11th.  Add to that, orders coming in and 1/2 days at the farm harvesting pussy willows for spring. There just aren't enough hours in the day. Have not even started transplanting seedlings on the grow benches. That will have to wait another week.  Forget about any opportunites for early ice out crappie

  7. Funny how things change. In high school geography class. Nanticoke was touted as the perfect planned community. Ontario's city of tomorrow. We had to study the town plan for an urban assignment in grade 12.  Somehow the big "Blue"  choochoo came off its tracks.

  8. 10" of heavy white stuff here. Took 2 sessions to clear the driveway. A neighbour was bold enough to plow out our entire street and sidewalks:clapping::worthy: because the city has only once sent a plow down our street this entire winter, and that was 5 days after a storm.

  9. Took two of my grandaughters down to the Sunshine state for the week.  The wee ones had the time of their lives, laughing, playing, giggling the whole time. THat was the primary goal of the trip. Much In Disney is changing to appeal to a new generation who know nothing of Uncle Walt. Some of it good, some not so much.

Secondary goal was to get in some fishing. That turned out to be a bust. To start, Disney World is no longer angler friendly. Used to be you could go pitch a few casts in the waters by your hotel. No longer allowed. Only  their B.A.S.S. charters are permitted now, and in limited locations. $270 for 2 hrs. is pretty steep.

Next was to be a charter out of St Petes. Day before our booked trip, the captain cancels due to mechanical problems. No offer to find a substitute boat or charter. We could not find any on short notice. Guess I'll set that money aside for a freshwater trip.

The trick is to not cut off the head or root ends to much Doug. I botched 2 of the 3. Just ate it. So sweet. Soup was great. It seems I can never make this wrong. Hell, it soup, what can go wrong?  I do not add salt to the soup. I prefer to add to taste, when eating it. I find salt these days to be very over powering. If that makes sense.

No different than whole onions in the roast pan. Always put in 5-6 cooking onions in the pan with turkey or roasts. Cut off as little as possible from the ends.
