Another one of life's mysteries explained quite simply:
An American tourist asks a Newfoundlander:
"Why do scuba divers always fall backwards off their boats?"
To which the Newfoundlander replies:
"Lord thunderin' Jesus, you must be stunned as me arse. If they fell forwards, they'd still be in the boat"

I can date my visits to the Sportsman show back into the late 60's.
Several years back, the Sportsman show was a different creature. There were a lot more mom and pop lodges, tackle shops, small independent manufacturers, etc... at the show. The mezzanine was all small retailers back then. Gradually, the small vendors, and some of the larger ones, were all pushed out by the big dollar. Seems there is not that much that is centered on fishing and camping.
-
Some of the regular tackle shops are not going to be there either. Just means more space for the T-shirt, first aid and sock vendors.

Parking's not cheap. Nor is a round trip on the GO from Burlington.
I've been going since I was a kid. At current prices I can't see going there any more.
At least we are seeing more local venues starting up, like the Niagara show this weekend.

Can't wait to join you for some soft water edumacatin

He just might get charged. Would not be the first time a celeb was singled out as a public example by an eager prosecutor.

Here is a little info that is in the article
Sean Insley, a conservation officer with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources told the newspaper a tanker truck trying to enter Canada was found to have live carp aboard, although the water had been drained.
While I am NOT defending the company their mistake was not making sure that the carp were dead it appears that the intent was to deliver dead Carp to a market that wanted the fish.
Art
It was no mistake. 1) the fish were being smuggled in a tanker. 2) it is known these fish can live for great lengths of time out of water. 3) There is a huge demand for the product in Toronto, but it needs to be live or fresh killed.

Isn't it great when you look back on the past and only remember the parts you want.
Ever since Philadelphia started their goon squad, the game has gradually spiralled downward. I remember only too well the stitches, black eyes and missing teeth. I've had all of them playing hockey. Played goal before masks were mandatory ( masks were for sissies) and got a concussion for my efforts. That happens when you play the game. If you played a dirty game you got benched for 2 reasons: a) for playing dirty,
to avoid a grudge game. Repeat the mistakes and you were off the team.

It appears, as someone else pointed out, that hockey, today is a blood sport.
A game where hospitalizing your opponent is as important as goal scoring. It's not the game it used to be, that's for sure.
This violent game is also trickling down into junior levels with on ice brawls and after game brawls occurring at the 15-16yr old level.

Coming to an arena near you, "Rollerball", or Gladiators on ice.

If you are doing a lot of shore fishing, bush trekking, etc... A durable rod is a must. For that type of fishing the UglyStick is the ticket. Sensitive rods snap real easy. I've broken a couple of rods over the years backpack fishing, but the UglyStick is still there.

Making a blanket statement that you would trust the mob over bankers or financial advisors again is mistaken. The mob loses money in the market.
A mobster is a crook living oustide the law. I know what I'm dealing with. Bankers are crooks hiding behind the law and the politicians, and get to change the rules whenever they please.

Hey Bigbuck, you said the pigs/greedy, get slaughtered. You are quite right. In my case, the pigs were the investment advisors. I fed them my savings and the "conservative" funds they put them in got slaughtered. The one pension fund has not paid out to a single pensioner in 3 years. Seems it had lost 90% of its previous value. It might start paying off after half of the contributors have died. I'll trust the mob before I ever trust a banker or financial advisor again.

To have a lot of money must be a wonderful thing but when is enough, enough? Most of the people I know that have a lot of money (by my standards) are always worried about keeping what they have and engrosed in finding ways to get more. No matter how much they have it never seems to be enough.
Money is only good as long as it lasts.
Memories are forever. Me, I'm all for memories because I'll never have a lot of money LOL.
My mother thought she had enough, according to all the bankers and advisors. Then came the collapse in I.T. stocks and she lost 20%. Then they changed the rules and started taxing "safe funds" and she lost 10% more. The recession, so far, has cost her close to 15% of her fund values. One heck of a beating in just over 10 years. So much for being comfortable, eh?

No exaggeration. A local legend for a young Buffalo team in it's early years.
No different than Eddie Shack being a Toronto legend![](https://ontariofishingcommunity.com/uploads/emoticons/default_rolleyes.gif)
