  1. Hey everyone

I have been on a mission to find out HOW/WHEN we can buy tickets for this game. ( I know I know, its a year away still )

BUT anyhow..... I was talking to a guy here at work and he said a friend of his has already signed up for some "Lottery", which your name is drawn so you get the chance to buy tickets ???

Aparently the demand for the tickets will be very high so they are trying to give everyone an equal chance ????

Has anyone else heard anything along these lines ???

  2. Hey everyone

Im starting to get organized for tax time because with the baby on the way in the next month, I have a feeling paper work is going to take a back burner for a little while.

I bought my house in March of 2011. We totally gutted and renovated everything. Is there any thing I should be claiming for tax time ???? Just trying to get as much of my $$ back as possible.

I have put a call into my accountant but I just was curious if anyone has gone through this and what they found was the best approach

    Thanks for any input

  3. Hey everyone

A group of us ( about 4-6 guys) want to take a weekend trip in the near future. With the HORRIBLE weather we have been having here in SWO, we are looking to travel north in search of some fish/ICE !

We are thinking a weekender to Simcoe is in line.

What are some places you would suggest for a trip like this. We live in Chatham-Kent and are willing to drive 5-6 hours north... maybe more if its worth it.

Any suggestions for a clean, "affordable" trip ? Looking to get into some jumbos or some nice pike.

    Thanks

  4. Ok.... So a friend of mine want to buy a boat. He has been asking for my advice on this venture and I have been helping as much as I can !

He has roghly $14000 to spend.

    He is looking for ...

    -Aluminum

    -approx 18 ft

    - 90+ HP

    - All the toys... FF, Trolling motor, etc.

It will be used for bass, walleye, muskie, and perch..... fishing Rondeau, Mitchells bay, erieau area.

I have suggested to him that he should go state side if he is looking to pay cash.

Would you be able to find a later model lund for that price range ????

  5. Hey everyone..... this is a non fishing question, but I dont know where I can ask and get feed back like this site.

I have an Iphone 4S.... only had it a few weeks, its starting to grow on me. I still miss my black berry keyboard though.

Any how..... what are some MUST HAVE apps.... with the oodles and oodles of them, Its pretty tough to find some good USEFUL ones.

can you suggest any you cant live with out, or that actually are helpful with everyday life ?

    Thanks

  6. Now yer talkingood.gif I've fished with people who have never held a rod before.I have seen them cast backwards, sideways, straight up and back into the boat, but i have never seen a birdsnest on their spinning reelsdunno.gif

Hmm.... I have gotten themm many times.... ie, Line twist from drop shotting.

I close the bail with my hand everytime and try to be as careful as I can to prevent line twist, but it still happens.

As far as the reel goes.... what a JOKE ! hahah

  7. Hey everyone

I found a sweet deep frier on Kijiji..... The guy tells me it has been used to cook perch.... "Only used one time" is what it says in the ad.

I have been told once you cook fish in a deep frier, its pretty well ruined.... and can only be used for cooking fish. I was told it holds the taste of the fish and any other food you cook will have a fishy taste to it ??? How true is this statement ???

The filters would most likely need to be changed because they would smell like fish right ???

    Thanks

Its a stupid question I know.

  8. I might be heading there this afternoon actually ! Not sure if I want bass or musky !

There isn't very many obsticles to worry about.... right at the mouth on either side it gets VERY shallow, so stick to the channel and you should be ok.

Trolling is the preferred method from a boat, BUT I like to drift with the current and cast. Makes it not so boring.

I haven't heard any recent reports regarding the fishing since we had the big rain a couple weeks ago.... the river came up a few feet and turned to chocolate milk for over a week. Things have calmed down now so I would think its back on again !

If your coming this way in a boat.... Launch @ Janettes Creek..... its a free public launch, and in my opinion its better then the launch @ light house peir .

  9. Count me in !!!

Our family has just recently found out my uncle has Prostate cancer and I lost my Aunt just a few months ago ( age 56 ) to Cancer and MS .

This Movember kind of hits close to home.

  10. Uglyfish is correct on the drag.

You do know that there are vertical, horizontal & over head rod racks? :tease:

I wish I had a pick of my storage system ! My grandpa fashioned a rack out of some old pine we had.... mounted on the ceiling in my bed room....Go to bed looking at my rods and wake up looking at my rods. I was single at this point...... chicks dug it ;) haha

  11. Stay away from the 6.0 if you can. It's too bad GM doesn't put the Duramax/Allison combo in them.

When I used to sell for GM I said the same thing. I would love to see a 6.6 duramax suburban !!!!! Something to compete with the diesel Excursion

As far as the 6.0.... I know they are a hog. BUT.... If your buying a Denali, gas prices most likely dont mean anything to you ! hahah

Im going to stick with the 5.3 over the 4.8.... I've heard its the better of the two for fuel milage

  12. My bro has an '06 Yuke Denali XL and loves it. The only things that have gone on it are the rear A/C line (common) and the power steering hose had a bit of a leak. Not bad for 140k.

Yea, Everyone I have talked to said they are bullet proof !

Now.... as far as the gas mialge arguement, the 6.0L in the denali has a VERY good relationship with the gas pumps... I know that much ! haha

  13. You may want to reconsider the going down to one vehicle idea. If you can park the Yukon/Tahoe and rely on a smaller vehicle most of the time, it could pay for itself in fuel savings. Your results may be different from ours but that is what we encountered.

Well... with us paying close to $320 a month for two vehicles.... If we go to a Yukon/Tahoe.... that would come down to about $180.

Also, Maintenece, fuel, etc on two vehicles..... it would ad up. I have a truck for work which I forgot to mention.... so other then weekends for fishing, it will pretty well be the wifes truck.

If worse comes to worse.... I will buy a $1000 beater along with the truck to make up for conflicting schedueles.

Having one car is pretty well my only concern, along with the fuel haha But I guess we can make it work !

Thanks for the info so far guys

  14. Hey everyone

My gf and I are in the market for a vehicle. We need a baby hauler/boat tower/general family vehicle. We are going from a Grand am & Sierra down to one vehicle.

I have my sights set on a Chev. Tahoe or a GMC Yukon. We are looking at the short wheel base. We drove a XL and the wife HATED it.

I just wanted any current or past owners to chime in with any advice they have regarding these trucks !

I know they arent a civic when it comes to the gas situation.... so you dont need to tell me how much fuel you had to put in haha

Any comments would be great ! Thanks for sharing.
