  1. the 718 i believe will only do point tracking... not full gps...

a lot of the humminbird stuff interchanges...

    i've got a 767, matrix 17 and a matrix 67...

all the plugs are the same... (mounts, power, gps/accessory and transducers)

check the gps puck to see how many satellites it'll pick up...

    AS-GR4 - 4 satellites

    AS-GR16 - 16 satellites

    AS-GR50 - 50 satellites...

make sure you get the "Y" cable, it allows you to hook up the gps and other accessories

I asked him about the GPS puck and this is the response .... " The puck is a gr 16/4. Hope this helps. "

Would that mean it picks up 16 satellites ?

  2. i have bell satelite and its there in one of the packages.

I guess i should have been more specific, I currently have EXPRESSVU... but I want to get american satelite because this show has been out in the states for over a year now ! Along with many other good shows, only available in the US !!

I have pretty well every channel you can get from Bell, except the movie channels ( waste of money ) and other then the odd showing here and there... it hasn't had a dedicated spot on Canadian TV !

Its a great show and usually when I travle to the states for work, they have it playing alot on Discovery... ill catch a few episodes !

  3. Hey everyone

I have been lookin for a f/f and gps combo for my little boat for a while now.

On another forum I cruise a humminbird 718 has come up for sale with GPS and the wide transducer,.... the guy is asking $250

Is it a good unit ???

I was wondering if I can hook that up to a standard deep cycle battery ? or if I need more ?

Basicly I have a H.Bird 585 right now... its currently hooked up to my deep cycle battery that powers my trolling motor and it works fine ! by tthe looks of it, the 718 has the same base as my 585 ... so can I hook up the GPS puck and just drop the unit onto my old base ??

    Thanks for any help !

  4. I just traded my 2003 Grand am GT for a 99 Sierra with 238K on it !

step one... tune up. oil change, plugs, air filter etc.

step two.... drive it for a few months to make sure its good to go...

step three... replace whatever breaks, if anything

step four.....drive it for a long time and get your money out of it !

Step five... sell it in 2-3 years.... buy a Chevy !

I contemplated on installing a sounds system, cold air, exhaust... but when it all boils down to it... why invest more money into a truck that already has 240000 kms on it... I dont plan on owning this thing for a bunch of year... it was just my first truck that i bought ! I think you can see by what everyone has already said... drive it, spend your money of fishing gear... and besure to save some for un expected repairs.

DO NOT GET A TRANSMISSION FLUSH !!!! I know a few people that have down the "flush" as opposed to the "fluid change" and blew up trannys in a matter of a couple thousand kms after the job !!!

If you get the tranny oil changed... it will keep some of the old oil in and its not so hard on the transmission!

http://www.truckforums.com/forum/....the "OFC" of the truck world !!! Use it !

OH ya, body work..... if you can live with it... dont bother ! hahah its an old truck... it adds charater ! haha

one more thing.... an exhaust and cold air kit will only improve HIGHWAY fuel milage... so for highway driving they are GOOD at best... not worth the $$ to me... exhaust... $600( conservative estimate, most likley will be more ) CAI... $300..figure even $800 for both... hmmm, I can buy a couple new rods and reels.... or lots of tackle... orrr.... a pretty hefty down payment on a 9.9 engine ?????? something to think about I guess

  5. Hey everyone

I want to build a home theater PC .... everything I find on the intranets is dated.... like back to 2007-8 ...

I guess I want some direction on the compontents I should be looking at and that are compatable with each other

    Budget is around $1000

I want to be able to do EVERYTHING a modern home theater PC should do... blu ray, blu ray burning, TV/recording, I have a pretty large collection of DVD's starting to build up and I would like to be able to have them stored on the computer so they are avaialble all the time !... I want to be able to use it for streaming music and videos online.... basically everything you would do on a normal computer... just with home theater capabilities HDMI/7.1&5.1 surround... Etc.

If anyone can help or point me in the direction of a good computer shop.... not like future shop or big box stores... that would be great !!

    Thanks !

  6. Thanks everyone !!!!

I made it back safe and sound.... with out a boat though ! hahah

Day 1 - Good partner, we travelled 79 mile to our spot... so 158 miles round trip ! haha thats a looooooooooooonnnng trip on the boat ! The fish didnt turn on till late, we only had about an hour left to fish... we both only managed 1 keeper. But that one keeper was good enough for 48th place out of 152 boats. 2 lbs 3 oz. ! hahahah

Day 2 - Well.... its tough to stay positive when you meet your boater for the day and he asks... " Do YOU know anywhere to fish on this lake ??? " ....hmmm.... needless to say it was a pretty slow day... basically we studied a map while waiting to take off and fished areas we thought might be good. I blanked on the second day, as did my boater.... so home I came !!!

All in all it was a good time !!! It was great to fish a new lake, well two new lakes... KY Lake and Barkley Lake. Resevoir fishing is a whole new ball game and I will be back.

  7. Hey everyone !

@ about 2 am this morning, the gf and I will be making the drive to Kentucky lake (10 hrs), I will be fishing the BFL regional there. I am fishing as a co-angler against 199 other co-anglers ! This is my first year of competitive bass fishing and I only have 4 other tournaments under my belt so needless to say, this is a pretty big deal to me ! haha First place in this tourny is a 198VX Ranger with a 200 E-Tec !

I guess I'm asking for some wishes of luck from our great OFC community !!! haha and I promise, If I come back with the boat behind my truck .... all of you are invited to fish with me !!!!!!!!! hahah

Ill report back in 5 days !!!

    Talk to you soon !

  8. Hey everyone

Cruising some videos on you tube today and I came across some Mike Iconelli videos he shot out of his shop.... or should I say garage turned into a tackle shop !!! hahah

That combined with a video Dave Mercer did a while ago where you could kind of see the set up he had in his shop ... the walls were covered in gear !!!

Its made me curious to see what other people have as set ups to there current shop/ man cave.... At the moment mine is non-exsistant ! hahaha I dont own my own house as of yet so !

Anyways.... hopefully we see some cool set ups !

  9. Hey everyone

I really like the pricepoint on the St.Croix mojo bass rods... I can pick up a skeet reese/Curado E5 combo for $250 plus tax. but I dont know about the Skeet rods... read some bad reviews on the BPS web site

mojo bass and the skeet rods are with in $10 of each other... so its kind of a toss up

Any body using these rods ? used both ? any comparisons ?

    Thanks !

  10. i still dont see the price. from 1 to 1500 units. i dont think this is the price this is the amount avaiable for sale.

  11. Flutter spoons flutter because they weigh next to nothing. If there is any sort of slack in the line the spoon flutters slowly downwards. Bass do like flutter spoons but they like many things. These spoons can not be cast so you would have to troll them and somehow get them down to the desired depth. Too much bother if something else will work just as good.

I think we might be talking about something different ?

  12. I sure hope that guy is at Bass Pro buying all the required equipment!

You really think that will happen ???? He is probably at home nursing his injuries, telling all his buddies about the huge fish they caught and BLAH BLAH BLAH.... only to be waiting for the chance to do it all over again !

I would be surprised if he even thought twice about spending money of proper gear.... its not cheap! $150 for a net most likely isn't on his "things to do list"
