  1. Fight the fish it'll probably break the line anyways. Muskie are tougher then most people give them credit for. it also depends on where you are time of year and water temp. But I say fight the fish.
  2. Musky's landing is a great place to stay I have friends that stay there regularly and have had many clients stay there. great place and a great choice.
  3. 65 lb test is fine as is 50 the reasoning behind using 80 to 100 lb line isn't for the fish but the lures. When casting them if you get a backlash or as we call them a professional over run. the 65 lb will still break and at 25 bucks a pop on average thats an expensive breakage when you could save it by using atleast 80 lb. As for using 65 lb on Gbay feel free if you don't get backlashes you won't have any issues.
  4. Awesome report sounded like it was a blast.
  5. Rizzo Ive had this happen to me but never 3 times always got it on the 2nd time around. Get the file out and Make sure those hooks are sticky sharp. when setting the hook try and break your rod. a Musky's mouth is tough. But most important keep those hooks SHARP SHARP SHARP.
  6. Nice pics good job. Congrats on the PB pike.
  7. Hey there I bought a new alumacraft this year there are only 3 dealers in Ontario that deal them Bay City in hamilton. One is wasaga and the one on sturgeon. I called all three Bay city gave me the best Price. The one in Sturgeon didn't want to sell me a new boat and tried to pawn off a used one that was no where near what I wanted. and Wasaga was way over priced I got my entire package for 6000 less at Bay city the what wasaga offered and the boat from wasaga had no electronics obn it. Blows my mind how some people do business. IF you go to www.alumacraft.com they have a Dealer locator on there ansd maybe there is one close to u in Quebec. I purchased a Navigator 175 awesome boat with a great ride.
  8. For every fisherman on the boat with a sport fishing licence you are allow to keep one and be in possission of one. This causes alot of confusion if you caught a muskie and had it in the net or live well that was over 44" you would not be allowed to fish for another one until it was released. if you had it and caught another one you would be in violation of the MNR regs. and could be fined or have your boat seized. A better way of looking at this is simple you go out and fish today you catch a 44 inch Musky that you decided to keep. you go home put it in yoru freezer. Tomorrow you go out catch another one. YOu can't keep it because you are in possession of one back home in your freezer.
  9. Hey Pinch they would not be allowed to hold any Fish under 44" for a judge boat if they got a Sport licence. AS any fish under that size is consider illegal and must be released. Good on the MNR. If the PMTT wishes to exsist stay in the states and don't destory our fishery. I wonder how many fish have died during there tournaments???????
  10. Great report and sweet pics sounds like an great time out there.
  11. My Dad has maybe fished 2 or 3 times in the last 20 years all with me and he kicks my ass all the time. And I'm the guide...hmmmm Guess I really am a good guide then. Nice pics beautiful fish. Remember these times because life is way to short I know I treasure mine with my dad on the water.
  12. Nice Fish what a cow or is that Muskie bait??????hmmmmmmmmm
  13. I got a nioce 14 lber a couple years ago and gave it to my parents they are still alive today with no ill efects. Like the guys say I don't think I would have kept it if it was much bigger but it was a great meal for my folks. Enjoy it with your Mom
  14. Well just to add my 3 cents...(inflation it's a carp...lol) I use an Okuma 6'6" Medium one piece with 2o lb power pro. I also have a 6'6" Clarus Med-heavy. They are both the same feel and I've got 40" Pike on both with no problem. Both rods are spinning. But it is all about presonal preference and feel. each of my rods were around a 100 bucks.
  15. Hi Bill I've known Graham For 32 years we went to school together. Yes I have started up with him this year but I've done a few guided days over the last few years for pike and pickerel in the spring as well a few for Graham. This year I bought a boat and decided to help him out parttime.
  16. Jody isn't out of orangeville he is out of lake Roseau Graham B is out of orangeville
  17. It doesn't need to be posted what it weighed if anyone must know they can PM me but what the web site says is pretty much accurate. Nad yes GB fisher it was caught in that place where DanZ got his 37 lber on the other side on the next day.
  18. Hey Roy I did miss that first line where you said it was probably not more then 52 lbs sorry about that. GBfisher I do know what GB's fish weighed considering I was the one that netted it and weighted it when he caught it.
  19. I know I'm going to get blasted for this and that truly is an amazing fish But it's no way a 60 lb fish 50 lbs sure But I think that Muskiemikes fish was heavier and if that is a 60 lb fish then board member GB's fish from 2003 is a 70 lber and I know exactly what his fish weight. Don't get me wrong that is an amazing fish and a fish of a life time but let's not inflate it let's just enjoy it.
  20. 6'6" rod is aimed for both in my opinion it's a good middle of the road length Medium to med heavy is the way you should go for both species you are targeting. It all depends on the type of rod you get. My Okama is a medium and My Shimano Is a medium heavy but the are the same stiffness and feel quite similar. It's all bout the feel and how serious you are going to get. I disagree with going cheap for everything Rod yes reel no. Especially when you say you are going to get more rods in the future. Get a quality reel and save some cash on the rod. Just make sure you are happy with the feel and action you get.
  21. I have an Okama 6'6" mediem rod with a Shimano Spirex 2500RD reel Nice set will last for years and less the 200 bucks. Rod has an amazing feel and enough backbone for the lunkers and enough flex for a good fight. I love it.
