  1. Just a thought Lew, but it looks like if you hit a big girl that rod is going to slap your motor,or worse dive your rod tip or line into the prop. But that just the way it looks from the pics.Remember in muskie fishing anything that can go wrong ..will Good luck
  2. Had a blast today gar fishing.
  3. Dunno if this helps - had a friend asking about using actual perch skins (after fileting & eating the meat) on a wood body, clear coated etc. to produce a stick or crankbait. Then I guess these are illegal too...........http://www.luckycraft.com/ProductNews/realskin_gerald.htm
  4. I took these last year, maybe you could use one,if not ,don,t worry,Im sure you will find what your looking for.
  5. Every year we get a couple of weeks to fish most species before the seasons close for spawning.Right now the walleye fishing is really good around Mtl. Funny thing yesterday, was that these were are best spots for the last 10 years to catch pike, but yesterday was just muskies( I was actually disapointed to see it was a small muskie and not a big pike) Table 1 – Fishing periods and Catch limit (Zone 8) Zone 8 Note C1 Species [Catch limit] Note A 2009-2010 2010-2011 Stripped bass Fishing prohibited Fishing prohibited Bass [6 in all], muskellunge [1] from June 19, 2009 to March 31, 2010 from June 18, 2010 to March 31, 2011 Pike [6 in all], yellow perch [50] from May 1st, 2009 to March 31, 2010 from May 7, 2010 to March 31, 2011 Walleye [6 in all] from May 8, 2009 to March 31, 2010 from May 14, 2010 to March 31, 2011 Sturgeon [1 in all] from June 15, 2009 to October 31, 2009 from June 15, 2010 to October 31, 2010 American shad [5], char [10 in all], landlocked salmon [3], atlantic salmon [1] Note B, lake trout and splake [2 in all], trout [5 in all], black crappie [30], other species [no limit] Year-round Year-round
  6. so I'll have to settle for these....... Don't worry they are legal as they were caught in Quebec
  7. They don,t seem to have any problems in Vermont, this is right from the Vermont Fish and Wildlife depatment :http://www.vtfishandwildlife.com/bassfishing.cfm . During this time, you can legally target bass; however, angling is catch-and-release only and all bass must be immediately released (after a quick photo, of course). Anglers are also prohibited from using live bait - only artificial lures are allowed.
  8. Neither the rat or monster work, but most of the ones in the bottom photo do......
  9. Fished for 20 minutes,no bites but had one doggy follow. ..........HELP!!! I gotta fish soon :D
  10. Been going for the last 10 years, not going to mess with tradition now!!! One year I drove the 6 hrs. stayed only 3hrs. then came right back home.

  13. Here's a couple of muskie lures I just finished...Last picture has a bagley bang O to compare sizes.... Next job is to make a tray for the pedal of my trolling motor, going to make it from stainless steel.
  14. Don,t get me wrong ,I love to catch fish, probably more than most, but fishing trips are more than just that. Here are a few pictures from last year of things I love the most about fishing besides big fish......... Happy New Year and good fishing for 2010....
  15. Here's Lake of Two Mountains Dec 19th at 7:15 AM . It was -22C and still some open water.
  16. For bass sized jerkbaits and cranks I go with Gamakatsu round bend, and for topwater I like Mustad triple grip. I don't like Excaliburs as I find them to be too brittle and they break easy. I don,t buy in bulk and get most of my hooks at Sail.
  17. First off October is transition time, less muskies doing the same thing at the same time, coupled with big northeast winds for the last 2 weeks, resulting in rapid falling water temps....fishing is going to be super slow. Fish your best spots,(places you have caught fish)camp on these areas, fish slow and wait for windows of oppotunities(wind shifts, cloud cover on sunny day.sun out on cloudy day , the last hour before sunset, and fish your best spot on the majors and minors)Good luck
  18. A couple of nice of smallies from the St. Lawrence river.
