Yes it was. I was really glad to hear all of the stories and info you all gave to me. But now i have the option to apply to 5 different courses so i want to be making the best decisions possible. -
I am leaning towards a career in conservation/fish and wildlife. With the knowledge that i am able to send applications to 5 different courses i am going to take the opportunity and do just that. The course i KNOW I’m going to apply for is the Fish & Wildlife Technology program at Fleming College. What other college courses have some of you recommend towards the path I’m trying to take.(Ontario Colleges Only) And please share your experiences likes/dislikes of the course you have taken or have strong info about.

If i am correct, for zone 18 Northern Pike are open from January 1st-March 31st, if the plans work out i will be going out to my grandmas lake for a week to visit and possibly do some soft water fishing. Now this lake was frozen over at this time last year but i did not go out on the ice, however there is a small stream that runs a lot of water into this lake and this area stays open during the winter. During the summer I caught 2 pike in this exact area. It is a shallow area that leads off to a 8m drop.(look at pic) If i can safely get to this area by shore(witch I have hundreds of times) what baits and retrieves should I use to try to catch a pike. This area has a rocky bottom so i would guess using shallow running jerkbaits would be my best bet here. But I'm not sure how to retrieve them when the water is very cold. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated

Very nice paing job indeed. I want to paint the boat a dark green and that bar rivet thing on the side black. Then stain and replace any wood inside the boat, and paint the inside a plain white.

Since it up in Kingston it's going to stay there. I will be able to fish in it this summer for 2 weeks and it will be staying there for another year. Going to be doing come customizations to it then. When i get there on the March break I’m going to make sure it's a 12' and take a few other measurements and lot's of pictures so i can get the supplies to bring it to life. We have a 40lb Minn Kota trolling motor and i think this will do fine for fishing on a small lake. What i like to do is paddle to my destination and slowly troll and fish on the way back. I wish I had a bigger back yard or I would have it here in Oshawa. I also would like to move that front seat to the middle because there is not much leg room at the bow of the boat. Thanks for the suggestions everybody

My biggest is only a 12" perch and he got a 14"! Congrads

A friend of my grandmother had a older 12' aluminum boat that he has not used for a few years. This past summer i went out in his boat a few times and enjoyed myself. I just got a call from him and i was told i can have his boat for FREE! I am going up to there to see the boat again and to take a few pictures.Unfortunately this boat does not come with a trailer so i will have to leave it at my grandmas untill i can find a way of moving it. There is 2 brand new seats in the boat also. I would like to paint it once the summer comes around and for starters put a trolling motor on it. I am so excited that i got a boat now Where would i get paint for the boat(do i need special paint) Here is the only picture i have of the boat(behind myself) I also need to get some paddles, and a anchor.

I have made a appointment with my guidance counsellor next week and we are going to sit down and talk about my options for applying to Fleming. I want to take this course but seeing my guidance counsellor has helped and sent off hundreds of kids to college I am going to put my trust into him and what he thinks my best option is. I feel strongly about the path I want to take and Fish and Wildlife is the right path for me. I am strong in sciences, computers, math and english and have a very good chance to get into the program. As for the second course I am undecided and I will let that decision happen once it is needs to be made. Thank you very much for sharing all of your experiences and suggestions with me and I would love to hear more. As I know landing a good career right away will be a uphill battle but I would rather fight for a job that I would be wanting to wake up and go to every morning than one where I would only count down the days untill friday. Working summer jobs either with CLOCA or another fish and wildlife/conservation group will be my objective as well as doing come community involvement when not busy.I already got my self a conservation officer that will be contacting me when ever a volunteer chance comes up. I am again very thankful for all the great info I got here in this thread and I can't thank you enough to the positive answers and stories I got here over the last few days. Wish me luck everybody I will keep you guys and girls updated, Michael

Advice for "Mike the Bass Fisher" on SSFC College
MCTFisher9120 replied to lhousesoccer's topic in General Discussion
That was the most amazing post i have ever read on this site, and i thank you very much for the info and experiences you went through pursuing your career. This advice you gave me has been amazing and i truly am amazed at the work you did to get where you are today. I’m off to a slow start but i have began my "networking". I have had some volunteer experience at two different Conservation areas( Purple Woods, and Bowmanville/Westside Marshes Conservation Area) last year. I am planning on doing more hours once more opportunities arise this year. Thank you very much and all the best in the future!
