Hey i hit the trib on saturday... found the same thing... wasnt getting nothing. so i switchd up my bait. Tried a spinner. i caught 1 using a small black and silver one, with 2 or 3 follow ups. I tried working 2 pools. Going back an forth every 20-30 once they knew the lures were me LOL. mind it was my first time out with trout and waders, but the water was crystal clear. I found once it hit like 5pm and the sun started turning, i used my real worms and the bite was more active. Mid day, they lie low in those pools.

congrats on ur first pike! Wait til u catch a monster one, and its so damn scary looking you want to get ur hand near its mouth!

Too Late ! Im addicted first time out!

Hey guys, So this weekend i had alot of firsts. First fish of the season, my first time catching a trout. my first time using waders. and this is my first time writing a report lol. Lets hope i get the picture thing down. So i headed up north on the 115 a bit on saturday and my uncle has got some property. Im pretty sure its a stream off wilmot creek that runs through it, but it was beautiful. He happens to have a sweet lil honey hole sitting there, and i had it all to myself. I was surprised the fish were still there but it did go pretty deep. SO i slipped on the waders, and walked in...using an eagle claw hook, mono line, and worms with a splitshot...no float...the water was crystal clear. So it takes me an hour or two to feel the fish out and get my strategy down. tried a few things and lost 1 fish, due to trying to tighten the drag and it jumped (newb)...so i changed up to a small spinner and this was the first fish of the season : She was a beaut...as i didnt have net, i landed it bare handed, and had to bring it up on the bank to get my camera : i wanted this one for the team. Unfortunately...didnt get a measurement...thinking maybe 21 -22 inchs? maybe 4 lbs dont know but i did manage to get the team logo in. Next one i caught was a bit smaller, and i caught using worms. What a great fight he gave After him i caught the monster. Probably 10 or 12 lbs...absolute beauty...fought her about 10 minutes...she did some insane aerial moves...and one good headbash, and she was free (i love how they always swim back in full view to mock you lol) That was that for saturday and i went home and cooked the smaller trout up...so pumped didnt get any shots or weights allwell Sunday hit up Frenchmans for Pike > Nothing. Then the bluffs...Nothing. Did see a massive rainbow do a follow up on my buddies huge pike lure, but nothing else. Skunked, but a good lure wash and day outside...Licks burgers made it better And that was that... Im going to ALGONQUIN on Wednesday, and ill bring back a hefty report for yall! Pachone

Hey Guys! As a learning angler, i have discovered that the water activity and TEMPERATURE play key roles in your day of fishing. I am departing off to Algonquin next wednesday and im going to bring a pool thermometer to gauge the temps. Can anyone explain the OPTIMAL temperatures for MOST of the Ontario game fish? Ive heard its about 52 degrees for Trout?? Thanks, Pachone

How come its feels like im the only one working this Victorias Day? The streets are dead, and so are the sites and forums Im not getting time and a half Im on salary....and my company works on US holidays...problem is... im still working next monday too (t-minus 2 weeks to camping ) Am I the only one working? Anyone else?

LOL in 2 weeks it should still be a little chilly in Algonquin....thats why we have 4 people in a 3 person tent! just a lil extra body warmth... we call it "sleeping like sardines"

Hey guys, im stuck at home this weekend. BUT i have the ambition and im going to try to hit up some shore fishing. My buddy told me to shore fish Sturgeon Lake this weekend, but i google maped it and sturgeon lake is milessssssssss away. AM I WRONG? SO im assuming he ment lake scugog... he Told me the Lake has got some decent shore fishing for walleye (we got skunked during the night in campellford on tues) Does anyone know any spots? Does the lake contain Pike/crappie? I might head out to hastings but it will be packed because this weekend is the opener for that sanctuary. Could anyone direct me to any shore fishing spots? I know the rules, and i dont want no honey holes and i aint no dumb trespassing poluting dude. but it is my bday this weekend and i dying to catch sum bday fishies! Great Report! I enjoyed it very much. I will be heading to the AL in 2 weeks, and I think im going to be on the same lakes you have chosen. The action should be great and the blackflies will be hectic, but i cant wait! Thanks again for such a great report!

What did you use to catch these whities? I understand that whities are deep fish...how do you catch these guys? Deep jigging? trolling? how deep? what lures do these guys like? if u can help plz thankyou - Pachone
