  11. I personally know a guy who when as a child has a very interesting story about being surrounded by wolves while checking beaver traps with his dad and his dad having to kill three or four of them with the rifle as they came across the pond towards them... were they gonna be eaten .. who knows.. Ill agree with Rick though... when in the bush.. you do become part of nature and the circle of life that the whole of the outdoors revolves around... would i shoot a wolf just for being there... unlikely... if i was there with the kids and they were hanging around a bit too much for my taste... well it would be wolf soup for dinner.... part of my circle of life. Personally I think a hungry bear is a bit more dangerous than any old wolf would be... however... that being said... humans are more dangerous to humans than any old wolf would ever be.... just ask the RCMP lately...

  16. Ahhh ... i think ill chime in on this one... finnaly got a min.. I have spent ALOT of time in prospectors tents, in the early days of my life, i spent many moons during all 4 seasons in prospectors tents. for 3 years i practically lived in them (good and bad) while prospecting. Ive spent beutiful summer nites and -40 nites in them. And I can tell you this, your comfort is all dependant on how well the tent is put together. If you keep them heated, they stay dry and you don't get that mildewy feeling. Woods stoves are a MUST and I just picked up a small oil stove so i can keep a constant heat in the sleeping tent. I did many fly in trips at all times of the year and we stayed in prospectors tents, wife kids and all. Very comfortable and very happy. The main reason I put a tent(s) up at Jiggy Jiggy was the cost and labour involved with getting the material into my remote location. We truly enjoy the remote experience and being in the tent is part of "ambiance" of being in the bush to me. I will say this though, if your in the tent, your likely paying for a fairly remote experience. Privacy is a bit of an issue, although when we stay with people up there its generally people who know us and are used to a camping type experience which generally makes people less shy. Is it a place for "urban women" who need the comforts of home to enjoy the outdoors... nope.. I heard stories from one pilot of women with thier husbands getting outta the plane seeing the tent... and turning around and getting back on the plane... Is it a place for "the boys" to get away for a cheap weekend, certainly. Theres a reason we call it camp and not the cottage.... Now as for the question... would I rent it... I sure would, but it it would have to be less than half the price of a nice cottage.

  23. Well we headed up to Camp Jiggy Jiggy for a quick weekend trip with the kids... the weather certainly cooperated with sunny days and nits down to minus 4 or so... We battened down the hatches for the winter up there, and got out on a great 4 wheeler afternoon, covering about 50km. Managed a couple partridges as well and I got to show the wifey a great beach that Avery and I had come upon a few weeks ago. Gonna be a great spot to go in August!!! Heres some pics from the weekend... Friday nites sunset.. at 6:30 ... gulp!! The beach we found... stays shallow for about 50 feet then drops off. The birds we got, its been a slow year for partridge this year.... Monique's famous vertical hold. Jaden gets to clean them!!! LOL.. hey.. someone has to do it!! Yum!!! Deer sausage patties and partridge for breakfast!!! The glow of a warm camp on a cold nite.
  24. get well soon!!!
