CAMERON, Kevin - In loving memory of Kevin Cameron who passed away at the Maison Vale Hospice, Sudbury on Saturday, April 4, 2015 after a three year battle with brain cancer at the age of 63. Kevin was a Lake Nipissing tourist camp operator and is survived by his wife, Leslie, son Zachary, daughter Merideth and sister Judi. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews as well as friends and co-workers. He was predeceased by his parents, Wally and Hazel Cameron and sister, Cheryl Baker. Carrying on the tradition started by his grandmother, Lillian Batsford, followed by his parents, Kevin and Leslie operated Lakair Lodge on the West Arm of Lake Nipissing for 25 years.
Born in Sturgeon Falls, ON, Kevin studied music at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and later graduated from Cambrian College, Sudbury as a Geological Technologist. Kevin worked in the field of geophysics in Oman, Finland, Jamaica, the U.S. and across Canada. He was locally recognized for his work in promoting the Lake Nipissing area through his affiliations with the Lake Nipissing Walleye Restocking Program, Lake Nipissing Stewardship Council and Friends of Mashkinonje Provincial Park. An ardent musician, Kevin was a member of the Sudbury Hilltop Seniors Dance Band and the Monetville Music Club playing the trumpet. Being an avid jazz fan took him to band camp in New Orleans, a city he dearly loved.
Kevin's family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Maison Vale Hospice for making Kevin's last weeks a comfort to him and for the gift of quality time that touched us all. A celebration of life service will take place at a later date.
