  1. Great year for ya Sean. Good luck in the 08
  2. The Dominican is garbage. Pure garbage. The cruise ships won't even stop there because their governement won't put any money into cleaning the s***-hole up. The public beach in Peurto Plata is littered with the same trash accummulated from Mardi-gras' in the 1980's. I fished there. They were pathetic. Absolutely 100% meat fisherman. Why is Dominican one of the cheapest places to go...??? (with the exception of Cuba that won't take American's, and Mexico which is is forced to compete because of sooo many resorts) ... it is because it is garbage. Didn't go to Romana, which looks a little more off the beaten path, but, did go off the beaten path outside of Peurto Plata. Garbage. If you wanna lay on a beach go to Punta Cana... although, having had that recent scare there because of a bunch of tourists picking up some unknown bug that claimed lives... have at it. Ohhhh, did I mention I didn't like the Dominican and that the fishing sucked.????? Hope you fare better.
  3. Nymphs sink slow enough as is. You could use thinner and lighter dry fly hooks but they will not be as good as a nymph hook. Weight them with lead wire and you'll be alright.
  4. I'm currently into a bottle of SCAPA. This single malt is by far one of the smoothest and best tasting scotches I have come across in some time. It has a likeness to maybe Oban or Aberlour. I think it's about $65 a bottle. Any scotch lover will appreciate this bottle. Another few I like could be Oban $90, Lagavulin $90, Glenmorangie $?, Longmorn $? and Aberlour $45.
  5. For pike.... If it's DEAD let it lie, if LIVE let it fly.
  6. Mike............. crikey man! Yer killing some of us.
  7. Very nice Dave. Some great shots as well as words. Thanks for the report, it's actually more timely than you think seeings as how many of us are deep in our no-fishing off season depressions. Helps to escape in great reports. Now, lets see that big Kesagami Report. PACK IT FULL OF PHOTOS AND TALES.
  8. Dave, ya freak!!! I sent ya an email reply. Anyway, guess I'll read this while I am here. lol.
  9. Didn't all HOT girls in the 70's just go naked and put out any chance they got. This girl seemed like a tease for her time. He was better to go with the bow. Now... had she shown more skin and been more inviting.....
  10. Mmmmmm Captain Highliner's Haddock in the english batter. Nice try Wayne... we all know you can't catch, let alone fillet a fish.
  11. That was great. I'm now looking ohhhh so forward to my honeymoon this January. Actually do spend a number of weeks per year in motel/hotel/cabins outside of home. Thanks to this thread I now know why I am a herpetic leper with flesh eating impetego and C-difficile. And to think, after all this time I just presumed it was my kids bringing this stuff home from school.
  12. They are real "Canadian" pike... well at the very least the third pictured pike is. That fella belongs to a private site I visit. Original reports were read last Spring/Winter and the fella got great numbers of big pike from a lake out west.
  13. Xmas creeps up every year like a herd of elephants on roller blades. It's a trampling you can't escape and always leave ti'll last minute to turn and face it. Always when it's at it's worst because you're tired from running from it for so long.
  14. It's already been said...
  15. I don't know either Lew... Cronus must have had something to do with time.. and he had godly children. Good or evil I don't know. I think you're safe... but for fun we'll just laugh about it. hehe
  16. Patty my good man Was just thinking of the old brookie holes tonight when signing an Xmas card for your bro. Wishing.... dreaming of getting back up there. I hope to one day soon, yet this summer could be tough with 3 big trips planned already and a fourth for the fall in the works. Keep me posted though bro with any dates at all, sooner you know the better. If it could work with some shift changes I would so rent a car and do some fish-tailing offroad touring up them logging roads so I could drop the float tube in Mary for a 3 1/2 lb'er. You guys are fishing the main lake now too. Finally they backed off and opened it up. Like to see your dad pick up a 7 in there on his fave Mickey Finn. Thanks for the kind words. I take it you pick up my links at FB? Now you got my head spinning with trout. This summer is dedicated to brookies... stay tuned. Merry Ho Ho, and maybe see ya down in Paaaaarth over the New Year.
  17. Sorry for you loss. Bunk
  18. Cool Lew. Thanks
  19. All just 2 pounders in a Hobbits hands. That broonie is a real hawg. Sweet sweet fish for Bly. You guys did great this fall again.
  20. The name is Poseidon. Muhahahaha Ruler of the Seas, son of Chronus (Lew) and bother to Hades (Rich) and Zeus (TJ). With the thrust of thy trident I spear pike and walleye from the depths of Ontario's dirty but virginesque northern rivers, only to then eat the succulent marinated fired flesh washing it down with the nectar of the hop and barley. A God indeed.
  21. What parts twice Lew??? lol. Most guys I think have only been looking at one of the pics more than once. lol.
  22. Next year Float... next year we'll get revenge on the big pike. I hope (gulp) Wayne, they're lining up... but she's gone probably never to return, and likely bruised and battered after a trip up the coast. lol. Moe, clinical, outpost and ER RN. Thanks all.
  23. That is a big pike skull. Yikes
  24. Morning all, Thanks for that input. I forgot I had Al's site in my faves under Nipigon. And yes, I was just looking at it and found the jig flies. They'll be good and fun to tie and I might have to test them on the searuns up here in May Glad to know about the spoons for lakers too. Just getting out there for the experience will be awesome, I'd love to catch one of each and if it happens that'd be enough success for me. Three big trips coming this summer and as this snow sets in I can't tell yas how pumped I am for all of them. This one is the trip I feel least prepared for though. Now about the barbless, I'm taking it that it is single barbless??? Or is it just barbless? And if fly fishing are dropper flies allowed? And if trolling lakers is a single hooked streamer allowed behind a spoon?
  25. Next August there's a good possibility myself and a friend or two will be making the treck out to Nipigon. The plan over the course of a week or so is to divide our time between lakers, brookies and pike once we're there. I hope to over the winter tie some bucktails and maybe a few flies, and maybe even make some lures for the trip. Any info with that would be great. Secondly, any gear and other fishing tips are more than welcome. Thanks.
