Are you sure they are bass that are blowing up on your frog? I fish frogs all summer long and generally the bass take it down in some fashion. Now Northern Pike they are notorious for missing a top water so it could be them making all the noise for the most part.
I have fished this lake my entire life, never actually laid eyes on a Walleye, but have heard of the odd one. What wasn't mentioned was the Northern Pike population that has flourished over the last number of years. They are not native to the lake. The Smallmouth are popular and the lake is full of Rainbow Smelt, Yellow Perch and Burbot. There are even a few Brook Trout and Lake Whitefish.
There is not one body of water in peril because of bass being pulled of their beds. The populations will never be affected and at the end of the day its just a bass.
I have plans to go in on April 28th to North Tea. I called the Whitny office today they said that a chopper was going up either on the 26th or 29th. I asked him what he thought and he said the park would likely NOT be opening for the 28th of April.
New to the site and this is one of the best stories i have seen in a long time. Also my friend is the one who accidentally stocked the Auroras. Your secret is safe with me.
