  1. well ive use 6lb mono all the time and rarely lost any fish so maybe i should just stick with what works for me. i use to use maxima until they changed the formula or something.
  2. i use a 9 foot HMG fenwick fly rod blank made into a spinning rod. super light and really fun to use and my reel is a old mitchell garcia 308. dont care to much for those center pins but ive never used one. if i was gona i would just use my fly rod.
  3. I looked at my walleye jiggin setup the other day and noticed the old twisted line on my spool. so i decided to buy some new stuff. The only thing is the massive selection of lines so many options does anyone got some good lines to give a go. i basically jig in less then 20ft for wallys with small jigs with plastic.
  4. 6lb stren magnathin. the lighter the line the farther you can cast and a stiff rod helps
  5. the eastern tribs of lake o are completely blasted with them. not a fan of catching those they dont fight and they smell really bad if you catch one give it a good smell. i dont know what smells more muskie or sucker lol
  6. my dad claims that bullheads taste good. i know a spot thats freakin packed with bullheads right now so i may try them any body have some cooking recipies?!!?!?!
  7. NEVER FORGET THE GOOD OLD FLATFISH!!!! so much fun watching a rainbow come flying out of now where and hammering a black sparkle flatfish. green frog patterns work good aswell
  8. yea when it goes down you generally should set the hook.... the best tip for trout fishing is to go out alot by yourself with no distractions and learn how to catch the fish get in tune with them. i have calenders from years ago where i would write down the number of fish caught, time of day, temperature, cloud cover, water colour etc etc. i can know catch well over 100 or more rainbows a year and i dont care if know one beleives me because its just the internet...
  9. some of them will jump or Porpose to adjust swim bladders some jump to get rid of eels some have a giant treble hook in their side and wanna jump it away and i am convinced that lots of fish will jump or poke out of the water to look around.
  10. maybe they didnt want roe and wanted some big stoneflys
  11. last time i was their i knocked the crap out of the wallys with a black and silver walleye demon thats DEMON not devil. heres a link http://www.lurenet.com/productdetail.aspx?id=7672 it was a deep diving version with a ball bearing in the lip. also worked good on big smallies. we just fished on the edge of weed beds all day long.
  12. same with the trout out my way not to many spawning yet and i always think of rainbows like walleye. they come in around fall and spawn in the spring gona be late and interesting for opener. i agree with the fact it will be a better spawn this year
