  1. I'd also vote for Pittock or Wildwood in St. Mary's. and you can drop the wife/girlfriend off at the beach there as well. jjcanoe
  2. Never fished Rondeau bay before and am possibly headed out there tommorrow with the boat and gonna search for some pike. Anyone have any tips on baits or spots? Don't need the secret spots just the well known spots everyone fishes. PM me if you don't want to reveal anything over the web. Thanks in advance jjcanoe
  3. Don't worry guys he's got a trip all planned out for this Saturday. (maiden voyage of the S.S. Slowpoke) and a happy B-day again Brian, White truck, what's next white hair? (like I should talk!) jjcanoe
  4. One minute to post a happy B-day to you jjcanoe
  5. If they felt pain they would tell us. Fish that prey on spiny rayed fish such as stickle backs or perch obviously don't feel it when they chomp down otherwise they would search out easier prey. You don't see many animals that eat porcupines! jjcanoe
  6. Going to look at one cottage on Big Gull, one on Bobs, and one on 14 Island, one on Sharbot (east) And some land on Silver and Long lakes. I think the motel in S.L. might be a better bet. I've eaten there before but not stayed there. (and Sunsets is right across the road mmmmmm) jjcanoe
  7. Yeah that wasn't open when I was a college Co-op student at the fish hatchery. jjcanoe
  8. Michael Ryder; Les Golf, Les Golf, Les Golf!! jjcanoe GO LEAFS GO!
  9. I think I ate lunch at this place last summer if it's the one just across the hwy from the lake. One of the places I'm looking at is on the west end of Silver lake. Thanks jjcanoe
  10. Thanks Fliptheslop, Not looking for high class places just some kinda dump thats mostly clean(where you don't have to plug the shower drain to keep the roaches out) with a cheap breakfast in the morning, and maybe a little bar nearby! Thanks for the info jjcanoe
  11. Yeah one of those Motor-inn types! jjcanoe
  12. Gonna be doing some cottage hunting out in Eastern Ont next weekend and was wondering if anyone could direct me to a not to expensive motel preferably along hwy 7 between Kaladar and Sharbot Lake Thanks jjcanoe
  13. Thanks guys I think Waterloo would be best for me. I'll bring it up there when I take my trip north for the trout opener and hopefully pick it up on the way back jjcanoe
  14. On a less serious note since I have no experience with this sort of thing(not to make fun of your situation) Get a big sign out in the front yard advertising : HOOKSET's ABBOTIOR AND CUSTOM KILLING OPENING SOON A really good point, you may be able to get well above market value for your home and start a new with a nice piece of waterfront to dock the boat on. Waterfront means: No neighbours to the rear ever! jjcanoe
  15. Thanks Rattletrap2, I'm in Mississauga everyday but I didn't want to drag the whole works around in the bunk of my truck, but it's looking like I might have to. jjcanoe
  16. Anyone know where I might be able to get a steering cable fixed in southwestern Ontario? I live in London so preferably around here but I also head down around Ridgetown/Chatham and Hamilton/Niagara a lot so those would also be options. Thanks jjcanoe
  17. You like my oven mitts? jjcanoe
  18. Got the first one on a Rapala type minnow and the next two on a Berkley Shakey Shad Plastic with a small jig head. jjcanoe
  19. Went out for some pike action today with Slowpoke and had a great time. Ended up with 3 landed 5 or 6 lost and at least 10 or more that came in close to take a swipe at things (that we saw) 25" Pike jjcanoe 23.5" Pike Had a great time and we'll have to do it again Slowpoke! jjcanoe
  20. We didn't get word of this until after we were done collecting for the day and got home to check E-mails. Were were then told not to worry about it but hold off any future collections until furthur notice. We don't have any plans to stock our brown trout quite yet but will do so when hatchery and donor stream temps are about equal. (as long as we are given the OK to do so) The rainbows won't be going anywhere for a while yet so they hopefully won't be affected. jjcanoe
  21. What they might be trying to accomplish with this point is: Guy works at a hatchery and goes out for a few casts in the morning before work, catches an infected walleye of pike (remember the symtoms are not always visible) heads to (MNR or club) hatchery and handles fish or uses the same set of waders/boots/gloves/jacket covered with some VHS infected fish slime, and inadvertantly transfers the virus to the hatchery fish or a different watershed while out collecting eggs. (yeah I know it's a stretch but it could happen) All Rainbow and brow trout that were formerly at Normandale are now at the S.S.Marie hatchery. Normandale will be strictly for raiseing Atlantics as of last fall. Our club got our brown eggs early last winter from there and the hatch rate was amazing! Rainbow eggs are coming soon. Our colllection permit expires at the end of March and we were out on Thursday collecting. We got about 20 'bows from about 300m of stream ranging from 3-14lbs all the males were ready to rock but the females were different. The large ones were still green (except for one) and the small ones were all spent. We ended up with only about 2000 eggs so the rest we'll be getting from S.S.Marie (if the MNR lets us! jjcanoe
  22. I have Sirius and XM. My choice would be Sirius, The music stations are 100% comercial free and XM's are not. Sirius has Howard Stern if you are a fan, and do carry most NHL games however sometimes you do have to search for them since they don't have their own dedicated channels. Sirius has NFL and NASCAR channels and carries many CFL, English Soccer and NLL Lacrosse games. XM has MLB baseball games and also had world cup soccer (last time around) as well as a 24hr NHL channel although sometimes I do hear repeated shows. Sirius has a Martha Stewart channel and XM has an Oprah channel (for the wife right?) Both have a clean and a dirty comedy channnel and Siruis has Blue Collar comedy channel and XM has a canadian comedy channel (programmed by Mark Breslin Owner of the YUK YUK'S club chain) I think that Sirius has a slightly more user friendly layout for music stations. Similar stations are aranged next to each other. XM has a similar layout but, in some cases stations are a bit mixed up. jjcanoe
  23. 1st time I've been in about 6 years and I was pleasantly suprized with the amount of fishing stuff at the show compared to the lack of at previous shows years ago. Good to see you Slowpoke and thanks again for the tickets, I owe you a fishing trip this summer. Glad to hear you got your floater suit finally! My son was happy as a pig in poop about the grab bag he got ($10 and he got about $30 worth of stuff!) I used to love buying those when I was a kid! You never knew what kind of treasure you were going to find inside. jjcanoe
  24. I'll most likely be there on the Saturday with the wife and Jr. in tow jjcanoe
