I've done very well with the ripple shads up here as well. Paddle tails in general seem to work exceptionally well for walleye. Never saw the need for the trailer, mind you I'm usually running the 3"

If you're really concerned about your body being a test pit for a plethora of toxins, you should consider tending a good garden and getting good with a rifle.

This has been posted at least a half dozen times here, and it never gets more appetizing, that's for sure.

Best thing a newbie fly fisherman can do is hire a guide.. He'll teach you how to rig, what to fish, how to fish, and give you a little insight into the local trout population.

Yep. Spend a day with a guide based out of Wilson's fly shop in Fergus. Lots of great resident trout water.

Sure do. They can be deceivingly dark and speck-ish in some lakes.

Tough to beat this basic design for tip-ups, but the electronic gadgetry I can (and will) do without.

The wooden tip-ups are still the best for the shallow stuff

There is no thermocline after turnover...not sure what it was you were marking on the graph???

I've hauled Clam Nanook's by myself in 3 foot of snow before. That sucked, but in light snow/bare ice it's really not bad at all if you're in decent shape [and you have cleets].

I'm going to go ahead and say that's a terrible idea.

And no, I have nothing productive to add...except for good luck.
