  1. Like most of you, I`m already getting shaky for the upcoming muskie season. I plan on setting up soon and was interested in trying something different this year. I noticed a lot of muskie guys run the Down Easters and when trolling they point them down with the rod tip in the water with the clicker on the reel. Why is that? Any preference over leaving them even with or above the boat? I plan on fishing G Bay most of the year so any help would be appreciated.
  2. You can really spot the Americans in an Ontario Fishing Forum. Hockey is a Canadian sport. Keep watching Americans do 400 laps in a circle in GM cars. Definately much more entertaining and physically active.
  3. Maybe the cost of $5000 for a booth at a show where everyone wants a deal isnt such a great investment for a small business I'll stick to Le Barons, JB's, Tightlines, Peters, and Angling Specialties.
  4. If it's taking you 4 years to buy a sled then maybe you should go elsewhere and spend the extra $20.
  5. That's a godly fish. I wish there were some better pics.
  6. Maybe i should send in my Simms. Maybe they can change my mind on their product.
  7. This way knowledge and time on the water leads to anybody able to go online, see fish and go. The internet already has too much info on it for fisherman.
  8. I have G3's and they are absolute crap. All the seams leak just a little bit. No tears, punctures and not much use. Over priced crap to target a market that makes you look good. They are the most comfortable waders and best looking ones but whats the point when they're useless for wading. I have another friend who had the same thing with waders and the crappy wading g3 jacket. Breathable waders are the perfect idea but if you plan on doing serious fishing of walking through bushes and lots of hiking then get some neoprenes. BAREs should do the trick. And yes i know this will cause trouble with all the G3 lovers out there...
  9. Both handles got loose, drag gave out and became jerky, it just wasnt smooth. Whatever, Im just sharing my experiences. Im not arguing anymore. Everyone uses what they like. Use whatever you want. Shimano and Daiwa all the way.
  10. Every person that defends the C3's always used it twice using light gear. Forrest, when i first used the C3 for walleye trolling, it was fine but then a few trips casting muskie lures destroyed my Abu in no time. Then I got a second and same thing. And no they are not in my garbage any more. My friend took them out of there to use and I believe they're in his garbage now.
  11. Ya hence the TE's and the Curado. As for spending more on the Abu's, my buddy threw a Morum in the trash because it was junk. Spending a lot of money doesnt mean a product is good. Calcutta B is better than the TE. They just dont make a 401.
  12. If you're right handed then Calcutta 400B, if you're left handed then TE 401 is the only option. I got two of them and I must say the cheaper 400B is smoother. Unfortunately there is no lefty in that model. I also have the Curado. Also pretty good but if you're gonna be serious about muskie and using big lures then go with a round baitcasting reel. Also a Daiwa Luna. Stay far away from Abu's. Suitable for trolling only. Threw 2 C3's in the garbage. As for rods, St Croix or Fig Rig.
  13. Get your 50"er without a guide. Muskie is about hard work. Dont rely on paying someone to put you on a fish. At the back of your head you will always think that you didnt catch it. My buddy got a 50"er on the Kawarthas last year. Georgian Bay, St Lawrence, Ottawa, St Clair, LOTW, etc are your best chances.
  14. If you're interested in a 2500 then I suggest the old stradic. Japanese quality versus the new Malaysian one. Went to several stores and they feel rough right out of the box. The lower model Saros feels way better than the new Stradic. Shimano is starting to go down hill. My $0.02
  15. Your friends weight & length estimates clearly show your friend fishes for the "22lbs" rainbows out east aka 14lbers. lol Its a good fish but nowhere near 50lbs lol High 40"s
  16. The park went downhill after Paramount sold it.
  17. Yeah JB's is one of the top fishing stores in the GTA. Brian and Steve are great. Any time i suggested to get something they get it in no time. I spend thousands of dollars there and never been disappointed.
  18. Its a 2 top hook bait and Ya i ended up doing that. That was my most logical thinking but wanted to see if someone did anything creative. I tried cutting the lure open and running one from the wire inside but that didnt work out too well. Thanks for the help GbayGiant. Appreciate it.
  19. I was using one of these for the first time yesterday and had some big fish follow it yesterday and one hit. Only problem is due to the hook positioning, its hard to hook. I've been meaning to add a treble hook to the bottom of the lure like some of the smaller swim baits they have. Does anyone have any good ways of rigging this up?
  20. I just bought a firetiger Jointed Wrangler. Anyone have any luck on these? They look alright. I cant find how deep these go. Im guessing mid range? Thanks
  21. Of course a trolled muskie or any other specie counts....unless you're out with the guide and you have no say in whats being used or done then the guide caught that fish but thats my 2 cents.
  22. Cool thanks for the help guys. I appreciate it.
