Congrats to U.S. President-elect Barak Obama
BillM replied to bigfish1965's topic in General Discussion
lol, how do you figure that? You'd rather have another Bush in the office for 4 more years? Obama is a step in the right direction if you ask me. -
My condolences go out to his family, I can't imagine what they are going through right now.

I saw the same fish(I am guessing here, it could have been 2 seperate fish) rise twice infront of me in a span of say 10 mins. Very violent, like he was going after something, got it and 180'd back to where he was. Where he was rising was a good 15ft across and about 7ft deep with steep banks) The other rise was at the tail end of a big wide pool (Big pool a good 100ft, by 75ft, very slow also) I guess I'll have to bring the flyrod down and test this theory out for myself

Nah, I had a good 2ft of vis and the one fish broadsided right behind my float. Gotta a great look at the entire fish, definitely a steelie.

I was fishing the inbetween the Boyne and the Pine, but this was no salmon. Had a great view of the fish, silver as anything Sucks that the clock rolled back, by the time I get home I only have about 30 mins to pack up, get to the river and make a few casts before it gets dark.

I spent many a morning on that municiple dock during the fall when I lived in St.Kitts Good job Mike!

They were coming straight up and out, big 180 degree turns and lots of wake left behind. They weren't being hesitant at all.. No slurping going on for sure I read up about it might being a blue winged olive perhaps, and also about the sedge.. They could have been emergers for sure, because I couldn't see any distinct bugs on the surface.

Spent 2 hrs on the Notty yesterday hoping that the little rain we got might entice some fish to move up. To my dismay nothing wanted a roebag or pink power worm. However, I saw atleast 3-4 fish surfacing feeding last night. These weren't shakers, I saw one in the 10lb range, it was huge. I couldn't tell what they were swiping at but I cursed myself for not bringing my flyrod down with me. What could they have been going after? Isn't it a bit late for any type of hatch to be happening?

The gf got me a nice Columbia shell for my bday.. I wear that with a hooded sweatshirt along with my fishing vest. It's been great so far. No need to drop $250 on a jacket when you'll never be wading up to your nipples

Mike, Sounds like you had a great time! Looks like I missed it by a day on the Saugeen. My buddy hooked into 12 on the Sat, we hooked into 2 on the friday Ah well, atleast it's raining in Barrie today, The Notty should be prime soon enough.

Thanks Jose, I was wondering how far they had come up!!! Appreciate the tip!

Wayne, this day seems vaguely similar to one we had a few months ago

After a day with a centerpin, I'm hooked. Picked up this used setup after a full day of fishing the Saugeen on Friday. This thing is an absolute blast! A bit tricky to figure out, but after a few mins it's not to hard. Raven IM6 13'6 3 piece along with a Streamside FL425 centerpin. I think I am going to try my luck on the Credit or Bronte one day after work for a few hours, I am sure I won't catch anything, but it's better then sitting in traffic on the 400

Gerritt, sounds like you had an awesome day man!!! Being out on the boat, laughing your ass off really can't be beat, add a few fish to the mix and you're in heaven!

Some people have nothing better to do I guess.

That's a brown for sure, take a look at the tail

Wow, $99 for a 4 port? You can pick up a 4x4 switch at a local electronics shop in Mississauga for maybe $20....

Quick steelhead tacklebox rundown: Advice needed

You know what, that makes perfect sense... I pre-tied some leaders yesterday, wrapped them up and wouldn't you know it, when I needed one today they were all in a giant knot I am going to rig up some shot line also, I hate being out in a not so well footed area trying to pinch splitshot onto my line -

Well the Saugeen wasn't in bad shape at all today. High water so the fish had numerous runs to pick from, but the water was far from chocolate milk. Visibility was about 8-10inchs, the local I hooked up with from the Grey/Bruce forum said if the water was a bit lower, the conditions would be perfect. About 90% of the fish were caught bottom bouncing from what we could see, with the odd centerpin picking up one here and there. I gotta admit, I was intimidated by the centerpin, but had to down pat in about 10mins or so. By the end off the day, I was casting as far as my partner for the day (who's been doing it 15 years).. I realize centerpins aren't meant to be bombed, but it felt pretty good making decent drifts along with some seasoned vets. The guy I hooked up with was absolutely great, we instantly clicked and I have a feeling we'll be fishing together quite often. I am proud to say that I did land a shaker about 2-3lbs!!!!!! I think I impressed the local (although it was all #$&* luck) by landing the first fish I ever had on. He told me he had about 15 hookups before he landed his first on a centerpin. I am sure if mine had some size, I wouldn't have landed it, but controlling the drag with only your finger is a pretty cool feeling. The fish ran at me a few times and I had to hustle to bring up the slack, but all worked out well. I'll have the pic in a few days as it wasn't taken with my camera.. Learned quite a lot about reading the water and my float setup and how it reacts if it's to long, or to short, or not heavy enough etc. I caught the shaker on a pink Berkely power worm with a pretty decent lead, probably 5ft or so. I'll be heading down to the Notty tomorrow morning to see if I can hook into a few more fish. -
I'll be on the Saugeen tomorrow in Southampton. Water is supposed to be a bit high, but clarity shouldn't be a problem (Atleast from what a few locals have told me)

Thanks man! The guy who is showing the ropes on Friday said I'll be tangled up with line for the first 15mins or so Really looking forward to learning a new fishing technique... I gotta find a place that sells pre-tied roe before I leave work! -

Yeah, the hydro chart isn't looking very promising.. Ah well, perhaps I'll be just going up to pick up my float setup, that's better then nothing! You guys rock with the info, I do appreciate it. I dunno if I am going to be able to get my hands on roe tonight or not, but I'll be stopping by BPS to pick the rest of the stuff up. I should have a pretty good selection from all the replies in here Oh yeah, 'trout' worms are red worms correct? And not the nightcrawlers I used to use for sunfish as a kid? -
What the #$%$%$&% You gotta stop making this look so easy
