  1. I haven't fished there in years but there should still be pike in Cooks Bay- Lake Simcoe. Really close to Richmond Hill. Cheers
  2. Wiarton area for some big smallmouth...took the boat up to the lake about 3 wks ago. Got my cabin booked for the weekend and many more.
  3. Hi All Made a couple of new friends from here (Anton & Andrew) and went to my not so secret carp spot on Sunday. Had a great time and we all got into a few fish. Some of our friends also dropped by with one of mine catching her first ever carp...fun to watch. Hope to do it again soon. Hope the pics aren't overkill. Enjoy! Her 1st Carp. Pleasure meeting you guys! Chris
  4. I got up early to go fishing 14'3pc Raven IM8 and a 13'3pc Frontier MX
  5. Better check the warranty on the Frontier. My understanding is Gloomis is dropping the line and the lifetime warranty is no more. You can get a great deal on the Frontier if your not concerned about the warranty though. I bought a 13' MX for $199 (reg $385) at the sportsman show and and am very happy with it.
  6. Ya, I was actually laughing at him until I realized it was my jacket he was wearing.
  7. Nice looking fish! Which Xrap were you using?
  8. Hi All Spent Sunday fishing for carp with a buddy and boy did they cooperate! We started at about 8am and the bite didn't slow down until about 5pm but we were both carped out by then. I landed 18 and lost 3, all good size, with my buddy not far behind. The weather wasn't the greatest (cloudy and windy) but the fish didn't seem to mind. Cheap way to spend a fun day(2 cans of Mr. Goudas corn and a 10 min drive from home). Here's a couple of pics.
  9. Measures to improve the health of the Don River have been ongoing for many years. The Don Report Card, released in September 2003, outlined our current assessment of the health of the Don River. Staff at Toronto and Region Conservation are encouraged by the presence of other fish species in the Don, including a juvenile walleye. Since young walleye aren’t known to travel far, it is believed that the fish was hatched in the Don River. Three adult walleye were also collected. “As continual efforts are made to rehabilitate the Don River, finding walleye, which are rarely seen in the Toronto area, is a good sign.” says Adele Freeman, Acting Director, Watershed Management, Toronto and Region Conservation.
  10. Check this out. :lol Toronto Life Search: May 31, 2008 Urban decoder I recently noticed someone fishing in the Don River, near the Pottery Road bridge. Wouldn’t it be a death wish to eat a Don fillet? —Biagio DiMarco, Scarborough Posted on May 1, 2003 Believe it or not, fish from the Don are edible. Every year, the Ontario ministries of the environment and natural resources test fish throughout the province for such toxic chemicals as mercury, PCBs and dioxins. And yes, scientists pronounced catch from the river’s fetid waters—largemouth bass, rock bass, brown bullhead and pumpkinseed—dinner-worthy. In areas of the upper Don in North York, several species—including whopping two-foot carp—are considered safe for up to eight meals per month. Even the 18-inch white suckers from around Pottery Road can make it to your kitchen table. Be advised: three-headed fish are best thrown back. Otherwise, bon appétit. * Categories: Environment

  13. Welcome Jack!! Nice fish!!! Seeing that first steelhead helped me decide what to fish for tomorrow....I think I'll head north for some dropbacks.
  14. Check you're local community centre for adult lessons. If they have a pool they will have adult programs for a minimal fee.
  15. Remember, if you can see the fish the fish can see you. Also, they may be recuperating after the spawn. Keep trying.
  16. Hi G I called them today but the person I spoke to didn't sound too sure of herself when she told me they didn't have what I needed. I'll call back tomorrow. Thanx Chris
