  1. I'd say I prefer to fish alone because I have a ton of patience when it comes to fishing. I could fish for 10 hours straight without getting bored or tired of it, and none of my friends would be willing to fish for that long, and whenever I'm fishing with them, I can tell they are getting weiry of it in a very short period of time. I love fishing early in the morning, weather it be at the cottage, a local Toronto shore spot, or out in the boat, preferably alone. It's just peaceful to be the only one around, with only the company of nature at your side, so you can apprecaite its beauty.
  2. Speaking of Brown Trout, the shore action is really starting to heat up around Lake Ontario for them. Plenty of nice sized Pike still kicking around as well (25-30" ers), even with the very high heat..
  3. Gotta work all weekend, there will be no fishing for me..
  4. Great stuff, I really liked it, and I also appreciate such a great online community we've got here on OFC!
  5. Absolutely beautiful shots AG.. thanks so much for sharing those..
  6. I need to get myself up to the upper niagara..wow..
  7. yup.. a few still kickin around..
  8. Going about 5 hours north to a friend's cottage around North Bay.. pretty excited for a weekend of bbq, beer, and testing out a whole whack of new walleye and northern pike lures. My goal for the weekend is a few walleye's for the pan, and a few nice northern's for the sport..
  9. The last two days I was staying at a buddies place around the GTA who just happens to have a body of water running less than 2 minutes behind his house. Seeing as I already had my fishing stuff in my car, I talked him into coming down with me and wetting a line. I was using light spinning gear, and tossed an assortment of very small lures. We caught some fish, and I ended up hooking into my PB steelhead - a beauty 28 incher. I had an absolute blast, but I gotta get ready for the cottage this weekend, it's gonna be great. Enjoy the pics.
  10. Hung over, and don't really care to deal with the traffic of weekend warriors..
  11. Back to basics.. I like it.
  12. That better be the case when I go up to Sioux Lookout at the end of May...
  13. Congrats on the Pike.. You must have the luck.. I've been skunked at that spot honestly for about 70 straight hours by now, its pathetic.. I'm really starting to grow weiry of gta fishing..
  14. I've already got a couple trips on the go for May-June. I'm going to be heading up to Sioux Lookout at the end of May-Early June for five days and hopefully catch some nice Walleye and trophy Pike. I'm really excited about that trip. Also I'm going to be going up to around North Bay to a friends cottage on the May two-four long weekend, and It's gonna be nice to get out there and do a little Walleye and Pike fishing too.. During June, July and August, I'm probably going to have a few weekends up around Georgian Bay, and probably one more trip to the North Bay area before the summer's done.. 2008 is going to be a great year for me.. I'm pumped!
  15. I've had success with 6'6 to 7' medium action spinning rods for the topwater bite, it can't be too flimsy, but it can't be too stiff either.. a good in-between rod should be okay.. In my opinion it doesn't even really matter that much.. I've never had problems with hookups on topwater.. usually bass or pike just inhale the lure and you dont even need to worry about setting the hook because they've crushed it so hard..
  16. I love all types of fishing to death.. but at this point, I would probably say my favourite type of fishing would be for Northern Pike up in our northern lakes, because they grow big, are extremely active preditors, and they love to smash top-water lures as well, making for explosive strikes!
  17. Great report and nice pics.. it's refreshing to see something other then a steelhead report..
  18. Leave WFN alone, before it I was lost, and now I'm found..
  19. Coors Light and Canadian...
  20. I've used the Gulp 3" smelt, rigged on either a jig, or weedless hook, and just swam it or lightly jigged it along weedlines.. They look like a wounded little baitfish, and the northern smallmouth just crush em' In 2008 I'm really aiming to test out more Gulp products..
  21. In contrast to that opinion though, isnt the goal to spread the word to other people that may be interested in fishing, but have no idea the various opportunities open to them around the Greater Toronto Area just how much fun they can have? I'm constantly trying to introduce my buddies into fishing, an activity which is extremely fun and enriching on many levels, not refusing to let them know information.. I believe in people doing most of their own legwork to find the best spots in the GTA, but cmon, aren't we taking this spot hiding/blurring thing just a tad too far guys and gals?
  22. This thread was inspired by reading another thread, and the angler who’s obviously a little distraught about not being able to catch any Northern Pike in the GTA, lol! Anyway, I figured this would be a fun little thread to generate some interesting discussion… How long is your longest skunked streak? When did it take place? And why did you figure it took place? Personally, I’d say my longest skunked streak has probably been 5 fishing outings, and about 25-30 hours straight of not catching any fish. It happened when fishing around the shores of Toronto, and took place this past November… Alright, enough about me… lets bring on the comments!
  23. Alas, in a couple of week they'll be out of season..
  24. As I stated before in the other thread about what makes a good fishing show, my personal favourite is Lindner's Fishing Edge, I love that show, and they really give some great tips. Honorable mentions must go to Urban Outdoor Adventures, and The Musky Hunter, both great quality shows as well, that I attempt to catch each week…
