  1. Just got back from an other annual trout'n trip with a few old friends...the drive up was great with blue skies, and clear roads...the drive home yesterday was CRAP and took close to 6hrs!!!

Anyhow, our objective was to get away for a couple of days, FISH, tell "stories" true or false, FISH, smoke a few cigars, FISH, eat like Kings, FISH, have a lot of beverages and FISH!!

We caught over 80 trout, and it was just the perfect trip!! Not a lot of pics due to my forgeting to bring spare camera batteries up with me!!!!

The first trout of the day for my good ole buddy "Billy Jack"

  2. Great report....I think we're all a bit guilty when it comes to priorities and fishing!! I'm headin' up North for trout on Friday with a bunch of lads I haven't seen for years!! It was my wife that kept insisting that I go and have some fun with old friends....I plan on coming home early Sunday instead of Monday to surprise her (it's her B'day) and pamper her for the day!!! :thumbsup_anim:

  3. Good advice Wayne....way to too many Loonie Toons out there to try and confront yourself...if you can't get hold of your district MNR office, you can also contact the local police...I believe they also have the authority to lay charges for breaking Ontario Fishing regulations....I know for sure that the Ottawa Police have charged locals out here on the ice for not producing a fishing license....

  4. We couldn't of asked for a better day yesterday if you were doing any type of outdoor activities.. :Gonefishing: The sun was warm, and the wind was light...hopefully spring is around the corner along with the soft water season. :clapping:

It was great to finally see the CO's out and about on the river...YES... 2 of them!!! The senior CO is a regular and he was with a rookie that was sent down from Cochrane. They had new sleds and they knew how to drive them... They were out on Friday and again yesterday!! Friday they were checking for hut registration#'s and yesterday they were hoping to find the owners of the non-registered huts .....

They nailed a guy just a few hundred yards from me with TOO MANY LINES ... :thumbsup_anim: 4 lines to be exact according to the CO...it was the rookies first "bust" :clapping: ....very nice to see these guys out again!!!

Fishing was great....lots of fat perch, a few eating size sauger and eyes, and a 5lb pike....

  5. Hey Folks....I'm in the market for another handheld GPS unit....it's time to get out of the stone age and retire my trusty old Magellan 315...It's going to be a coin toss between the Garmin and Lowrance...

Anyone know what the difference is between the Garmin 60CX and 76CX other then the memory card size, floatable if dropped in the water and waterproof housing that the 76CX offers????.....and does the Garmin have a 12V adapter like the Lowrance H20??

The main uses for the GPS would be for treking though the bush with the ATV finding more trout lakes, and navigating on larger lakes...

I've had a couple of Lowrance fish finders and never had problems with them...the Lowrance iFinder H20C comes with a 12V power adapter and is $274...the Garmin 60CX or 76CX are both $319...

What to do...what to do??? :wallbash::wallbash:

    Thanks,

    Steve

  6. I'm on my 3rd F-150 4x4 now and I have nothing but good to say about them...nothing special, regular cab so I can get my ATV into the back, and I opted for the trailer package with the extra cooling for the transmission.....I don't baby my trucks...I've passed weekend hikers in the bush and saw their jaws drop :thumbsup_anim: while I crawled past them to get into some of my little trout lakes :clapping: ......sure...the truck consumes gas but that's part of being a truck owner and most full sized trucks are comparable give or take $10 -$20 per tank and depending on your driving habits!!!!...
