Yes and yes, without a doubt - with tournament fishermen in mind.
How do some say you don't rely on physical capabilities? Last I checked I can't cast telepathically, I have to physically move my arms to do it. Toss a musky bait for 8 hours and you'll really be putting your muscles to the test.
I agree with Rich...I know I'm pretty beat after a day on the water hunting for Muskies or any fish for that matter...lugging a kicker motor through the bush with your fishing gear strapped on you back to get into your fav little trout lake is also pretty physical...
Here's one of the definitions from Webster's Dict. for sport and athlete
SPORT: physical activity engaged in for pleasure;
ATHLETE: one who is trained or skilled in excercises, sports, or games requiring physical strength, agility, or stamina.

I would like to see rubber "boots" at both ends of the cable..this would eliminate the actual stress on the cable itself at the entrance to the transducer and connector....I have 2 transducers from my Lowrance X40 and both have had the outer jacket of the cable and conducting shield seperate right at the base of the transducer and one at the connector itself .....the maddening part of this is that there is no way to splice the cables because the damage area is flush at the transducer and at the connector...

OK thats it, when is dinner and when are we fishing!
LOL...anytime you're free Jamie....I know Badger Shark is dying to get out so maybe I'll try to set up a small swill before March....
-
It's amazing how the weather can change so quickly.....here is a shot from my deck that was taken literally minutes ago (13:50PM)...We live 45km NW of Ottawa....
-
Nice stuff Steve.... T- shirt weather eh... GCD would be proud! LOL
LOL Wayne.....The woodstove that's in my shack is an overkill to say the least....It's rated to heat an 1800sq' garage...I was melting in there this morning
Here's a few shots of my home away from home
-
Kudos to the Pilot .....it could have been a lot worse had it not been for his ability to make a remarkable crash landing...
-
Woke up at 05:00AM this morning thanks to my 2 boys (2 dogs), that started growling at the window ......there must have been another animal around the area or some drunk ice fisherman staggering home from an all nighter for them to growl like that!!! ....
Anyway, made a quick coffee and headed out to the ice shack for an early start......I could see the clouds moving out and a nice front with clear skies moving in...THE BITE WAS ON!!! ..after a few hours of steady bites and a few keepers, I started gettin a tad hungry and decided to come in at 10:00AM for some breakfast....
Here's a few pics to share with you all.....
Hopefully the afternoon bite will be just as good!!!!!
-
Got out to the ice shack at 06:30AM....caught a few sauger and perch....came home for lunch.....grabbed some Corona and Keiths Pale Ale to bring over to my son's house to wish him a happy 35th B'day.......nice work Wayne!!...I need a GARAGE!!
-
It would be nice to get a transducer that doesn't have a million feet of cable attached, it can be a real PITA, I'm sure anyone that drives a tiller may need no more than 5 feet or so. Up the back of the bat and maybe another 2-3 feet, F/F sits across from the driver.
On the other hand, some people such as myself need the extra cable length to run from the console of the pontoon boat, through the floor and run back to the back of the pontoons....could be anywhere from 9 - 14'
-
You mean the ones at the bottom right of this page???
http://www.royaldistributing.com/ShoppingC...2008%2F330.html
LOL...I guess those would be slippery when wet ....those look like a good idea to use to keep the leaves from fallin' in my eavestrough
I have the ones further up on the right hand side.. P/N 12-120653

get some that will give you good traction
i bought a set of aluminum ramps from royal distributing that work well if dry but as soon as they get wet are worthless, get rid of them in a hurry
Strange .....I've used mine in rain, snow, muddy/greasy tires....never had an issue like you're describing

We do the same as Gerritt does and buy a full side of beef from a buddy of mine that's a full-time farmer.....no complaints whatsoever!!
Most farmers will ask you what size of animal do you want...We prefer the younger animals because the steaks are smaller in size and we find the meat a little more tender.
The other beauty of ordering your own beef is that you get to choose the cuts that you want. My buddy gives me a printout with all the cuts of beef and also has a column to right down how thick you want your steaks cut, how many lbs you want your roasts to be, etc... and it's up to you to fill it out.....we don't like Blade steaks or Blade roasts so we get them to grind them into hamburg...it's amazing how many different cuts there are to choose from!!.....I have to go grab lunch, all this talk about beef is making me hungry!!
Support your local farmer and buy Canadian Beef

Well said GCD ....I agree 150%

LOL Steve... Like I told you, if you can afford to put a hit on one of four.. there's room for you!
Johnny, there are lots of back lakes as well for specks and splake.... some with drive to access and easy access off HWY 11. Parking is just the problem so you need to be there early...because the ones that park in the snowplow turn around get towed. PM me and I'll hook you up with Jim that owns the tackle shop up there for directions (if he's not already gone to Labrador for caribou hunt)
Wayne....I'm pretty sure that we will cross paths at least once this year I'm lookin forward to it!!
I'll either be up for the Victoria Day weekend in May at Temagami Lake Lodge or for a week June 1 - 8 with some other buddies that are stayin at Rick's new place...
-
Nope...we have confirmed reports that there are at least some fish in Temagami..or maybe 'were' is a better word since they were kept
I shoulda thrown the few I caught back in....I feel bad now for you guys headin' up
I'm tryin to get a group of 4 interested in going back up again between the short trout hard water season...ya never know, I might see you up there Wayne!!
-
All I saw was the chair and the hole .....tried puttin' my glasses on but I still couldn't see the rod
-
yup...I got one as well!!
-
This didn't happen up at Lake Joe did it?
I saw a guy do it once, then get back on the bike, and do it again!!! Hope that wasn't you.....this guy was pretty hurtin.....lucky he didn't kill himself!!
I use a trailer for my sled.....I don't mind hauling it around.....you get used to it. On and off in 3 seconds!
Sinker
LOL Sinker...no it wasn't me..once was enough for me!! I ended up taking the time to move the truck to the bottom of a hill and driving on with no issues...i can't believe that guy did it twice
-
The homemade ones wont give you any trouble if you can find some sort of hill to park at the bottom of to even out the angles.
but those ramps look pretty soild TroutnMuskieHunter, I like how they fold as well.
The new ones are great!! I paid a bit more than the ones at CTC ($240 including shipping + tx) but they are heavy duty and I can fold them and put them away behind the seats in the cab of my truck.....they are 7 1/2' long when opened up and they are arched so that the bike starts straightening up before it hits the back of the tailgate...each ramp comes with a ratchet strap that I attacked to the receiver of the trailer hitch on the truck..this stops the ramps from sliding out...
-
I learned the hard way regarding the safety of using ramps!!...being the cheapo and not listening to my better half, I decided to make my own out of pressure treated wood...it seemed to work ok but the truck had to be on really level ground...last fall we were coming back from a trip and being in a hurry, I tried loading the ATV on a not too level area with a cargo container on the back of the ATV which had my deep cycle batteries in it for the trolling motor....just as the bike got to the top of the truck box it went for a 360 with me on it!! I could of very well killed myself!! I was lucky to escape with a few bruised ribs and scrapes....The front end of the bike was damaged pretty bad!!
As soon as I got back home I ordered PROPER ramps and bought a new bike .....I have used them many times since then and I feel very confident using them..I orderedthe 90" long ramps...here's some pics of the ramps beside the "homemade" ones.....
I bought them from Royal Distributing in Guelph and them delivered to the house....
