sounds and looks like you picked the right day to get out on Lake O...The lake sure looks nice and calm!!....nice fish!

I always use the uni-uni knot for attaching 2 lines together...backing line to main line, leader to fly line, etc....I find that the knot is very smooth after the ends are trimmed, and easily slides through the rod tip guide.

What great photos!!!....it won't be long before Ash starts walkin' and then all of a sudden he's in the boat fishing with ya....time goes by quickly.....Looks like you're enjoying every minute of bein a Dad!!
...congrats Bud!!

Very nice fish wow.
I am hoping to get on the Ottawa River some time this summer have no idea where to start but I will figure it out.
I am yet to catch my first muskie.
Hey Mike...I'll gladly take you out here on the Ottawa under one condition.....any Muskie caught in my boat cannot be used as an entry for your team
-
Glad to hear you got one as well....especially with your B'day Lure
....that's one of the lures that I don't have but plan on purchasing soon....BTW...HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Nice ski. Good on you for not giving up. That what it takes. Must have been a great feeling getting that one for the first of the season. Congratulations. Were you casting or trolling?
Got that one trolling....95% of my skie hunting is trolling...I find i can cover more area at 5-6mph than casting here and there...besides, the river is really high still and the weed shoals are still submerged..

The Muskie season here on the Ottawa River this weekend couldn't come quick enough!!!...I fished my butt off on Friday and Saturday with no luck....this morning I looked out at the river and thought, hmmmm a nice chop on the water and it's overcast with the odd sunny period...so off I went again with a bit more confidence...
Only took 1hr this morning to take the pressure off my back and the constant thinkin inside my head of "yur gonna get skunked Steve...yur gonna get skunked"...
Anyhow, caught this beauty 49"x23" girl and what a nice way to start the season!!

I'm on the stretch of river after the Fitzroy Harbour dam....
Here's the last Muskie I landed last fall...I'm hoping to catch one a tad bigger so I can change my avatar!!
I CAN HARDLY WAIT....3 MORE SLEEPS!!!

Don't worry Glen...if it gets too cold, you can stay in one of these...I hear they're real warm

I'm just an ignorant ol' Redneck and would appreciate a few tips.

I caught the first 2 on lead core....my buddy followed and quit using the rigger....10 colors out ~ 50' + another additional some with the bait we were using...water temp was a surprising 68F...we marked lots between 50' and 120'....thermacline was at the 50' mark which explains the action we got
-
What an awesome day it turned out to be!!!....met up with a buddy at 5:30AM this morning as a tag team to try and conquer the elusive Lake trout ....
There was no match ....we hammered them and gained another victory for the trout hunters
Every Laker that was landed today, weighed over 5lbs!!...the bite was constant...at one point we had a double header', but they both got off as well as a few others that were missed...
Here's some pics to share...

Beauty Specks....!!!...thanks for posting

This might be what you're looking for....Crotch Lake campsites are listed in the link...the island campsites are great and you can book/reserve, on-line....Crotch has everything from Walleye, Bass, Pike, Perch, etc....
Mair is a nice lake as well...no problem with launching the boat...it is back in the bush and the campsites are boat to only...Rainbow trout and Lakers....
Govan is the furthest into the bush....again, boat to campsites only...Walleye, Pike, Bass...
