  1. well i still think the smoker's are better built boats, now if you could get the yammy 70.. so i can post a link to each to compare. http://www.alumacraft.com/competitor-165-sport.php http://www.smokercraft.com/showroom/fishing-boats/pro-angler/162-xl
  2. didn't even notice if she had footware thanks your the first answer strike master
  3. go with the suke/smoker combo getting better bang for your buck the alumacraft while decent boat are built extra heavy look at the double flooring ect so unless you can equip it to max hp it will be a performance "letdown" compared to other 70-75hp class boats
  4. need to stay off utube on slow days

  5. 70 was a good engine, compression check it, still wouldn't offer much more than 800 for it

  7. yup he discovered fishing
  8. Bernie's in powassen, come fess up it's your isn't it
  9. 1 the 1986 40 has probaly been getting mixed for sometime , but check it out theres lots of those left around here purring like kittens. in whatever you decide sure you can get all kinds of advice and help here in your project
  10. yup sounds like a convertor issue to me as well, have changed many new ones over the years for this problem. also bad grounds are common as well
  11. still solid 8+ inches around my place could walk out and fish if i felt like it
  12. welcome, the whaler is just the beginning of the sickness
  13. 7ft st.croix panny rod with a evercast fishaflauge reel comes in right at 200bones nice and balanced set up usually use it slipfloating.
  14. that smokercraft is a tank, older ones were verytough built, and don't worry to much about the motor that should be a vro2 system overall pretty reliable just do a compression check and as long as the low oil alarm works go for it, carpet and marine grade plywood i would guess at 500 for the boat fuel tank got to make some calls for that one overall there is steering cables to look at and helm bearings, other electrical- lights pumps ect but from the sounds of it flash 800 bones at him i wouldn't pay 2g for it
  15. never had that issue with my plat+ or hot maps cards, can't remember if you have to unlock them first to record data to them (little switch on the side)
  16. those fingers that spend time pointing could be used to do some work! seriously we all know that nipissing is in a decline right now, but lets look back at the bay of quinte, from a awesome wally fishery in the late 90's early 2000's had a population crash what brought it back to the state it is today? there was a 4 fish unlimited size possession today only one larger fish the natives still net and spear there guess what still fish for everyone to catch. not one sole user group that can be held accountable for all problems but if all user groups can't decide on a course of action then may as well find another lake
  17. thought it was 2, but watching charlie ray out of st.catherines using 4 lines in the water, while he was mentioning how tough it was to be by himself handling 4 rods, guess the camersmans two were in use for the show, hope he got to fight a couple fish
  18. still ciscoes in sturgeon accoring to mnr, seen 1 floater in my time living there, but as i understand it muskie and bass are natural to the system, carp were introduced to the area in the 1800's from escaping ponds and the locks let pike make there way above healy falls and into balsom. If you drain approx 8 ft out of the kawarthas that would be as close to as what it was as we can get.
  19. if you want to save money on used equipement, check out the classifieds on bigfatbass, lots of tourny guys selling year or two old units for a decent price lots of guys upsizing from hds5-7 to 12's and bird 8 seris to 11
  20. merc, nothing wrong with the zuke whatsoever but if there is ever a problem with a near bulletproof merc 4 stroke there a merc dealer on every lake and corner of cottage country not so much with a suzuki
  21. I also believe walleye populations exploded in the 50-70's because they were invasive (being stocked) and no real predators untill they were completly acclimated to the kawartha's IMO. otherthings to consider, the lakes has we know them have been around since 1850's or so when dams locks started going in current model of trenst severen is what 1913? with the damning gull, missiasuga, north river and crowe systems. Anyone been noticing the a mount of silt build up in the lakes over the last several years? laydowns i would fish on in goose are buried some of the shoal areas nice fine layer of crud on them, weeds growing in new places different weeds altogether in other, these lakes are changing and evolving at all times.
  22. looks like a good excuse to go bow hunting for carp then
  23. never ever seen carp following walleyes spawning on my shorline, which they do have been watching them everyspring for 10 years now, not saying your wrong (grab a case and a flashlight come join me on top of the boat house but the have seen a huge difference related to water clarity and introduction of invasive species myself and fluctating water levels have been devastating to year classes
  24. x2 on that
