  1. Power Pro all the way. Use a flouro leader is certain situations.
  2. You have alot more experience than the average fisher, Raf. Likely more patience, too. Give a newbie plastic and live bait and the live bait will outperform each time. I would be surprised if plastics/spoons outperformed a well offered live bait set-up in equal situations.
  3. If the Leopard frogs don't make a comeback, I can see that happening. The crayfish ban would be unlikely, but would be motivated by stopping the Rusty Crayfish from spreading. I think that ship has already sailed.
  4. Welcome to the site Castmaster!
  5. A live bait ban would be a mistake for a few reasons. First, we are treating the symptom and not the disease. The issue is not the bait, but the transfer of ballast water from ocean vessels. If you want to protect the Great Lakes and all lakes of Ontario either force the ships to swap ballast in the Gulf of St Lawrence or close the seaway. Which seems more palatable? Another reason to not ban live bait is because of whom it would affect most. Kids and beginners have best success with a worm or a minnow. Plastics and other artificial baits don't work very well in the winter when the cold water stiffens the plastics and the movement of the baits is limited to up and down jigging.
  6. Dew worms are cold blooded. When immersed in the cold water they will shrivel into a little ball. No movement..nothing. Like leeches, they are better suited for use in warm water.
  7. Likely a rumour started by a Rapala dealer. The MNR has taken some new precautions as far as bait goes, but it is unlikely they will ban it outright.
  8. Ha ha...the funny part is I gotta dig all the snow out from in front of the shed!
  9. Even Canadians think that is just a bit silly. Minus 47!!!!!!! I might even have to wear gloves tomorrow, dang it.
  10. A huge thanks to Joefish! After my several unsuccessful attempts to fix the lock on my shed, Joe showed up at my door with bolt cutters in hand. Now...I didn't know he was coming then and I was in the shower at the time. I had mentioned to the Mrs. that Joe had offered to cut the lock off via a PM on OFC. I had missed him on the site so had left my number to call. So while I'm in the shower, my wife comes in and hands me the cut lock. I asked where Joe was and she said he had already left. I didn't even get a chance to say thanks! So thank you Joe very, very much Joe. You're a class act!
  11. No..I used lock de-icer, heated lock-deicer, a hot key....nada. One tumbler seems irrecoverably seized.
  12. The license is for fishing. As long as they are not fishing, they do not need one.
  13. This is also a Master Lock. One of them expensive 'weatherproof' ones. I'll have to use something different than a torch cause it has the rubber coating on it. Will have to wait till I get home from work now.
  14. So we're getting pummeled here. Maybe 30 cm or so. No big deal, I'll get the snowblower out. But wait..that $20 impenetrable lock I put on the shed last fall suffered some internal damage of some sort during the ice storm. The key won't go in. That's not good. Stupid shovels. Need a bolt cutter now!
  15. To tell if someone is online, look beside their name in a post. IF the little caricature is in colour they are online....if washed out, they are not.
  16. I don't know if this will help or now..certainly won't hurt...but upgrade your Java. There's alot of funky java and ajax being used on here now. 99% of it I don't understand, but I know if your JVM or JRE is outdated, it won't be able to do some of the more complex stuff. The new spellcheck thingy is cool. I dunno how it reacts with the browser the way it does, but in Firefox it works pretty good.
  17. GO check for yerself..it's done and available
  18. In about 20 minutes from now I am going to release a BRAND NEW SKIN! This is actually Spiels Favourite. It is nearly done. On Monday night we will release our 'Ladies Only' skin. IT's okay if you like it too, Dawg.
  19. We now have three skins available. There are the two we are used to, Club and Driftwood, but we now also have the faster loading plain-Jane 'IPB 2.2.0 Default' skin. If you are on dial-up you may want to use that one. There's two more left to do, Spiels favourite 'Reflections' and a new skin for our more feminine members.
