There is a posibility that I will stay in cottage there Aug 9-16. This will be first time I will venture in this area, so needless to say I know nothing about it. Thus, I'm looking for GPS of the "honey holes", "weeds plantations" in the woods, nearest"Hooters" location and so on and on( you all know what I'm talking about) Seriously, any info in regards to fishing will be appreciated, either posted on this thread or send by PM thanks in advance

BB is 100% right. Only cerified scale will do. I wish I was closer to you to take a "problem" of your hands and drive to the post office myself
-
Thank you all for the kind words. After reading this thread Maggie is in "seven Heaven" We are planning another trip already. She wants to catch "something" bigger
-
First of all congratulation . It is a great catch. If I may suggest. Do yourselve a favor, for your own piece of mind. Put it in a plastic bag, go to the post office and have it weighted.. First of all you will know for sure the weight. Secondly, keep in mind that your dad's scale regardless of the fact how new it is, can has significant error too. It depends on the calibration Regardless of the outcome you are an OFC record holder
-
O.K. Most current record is here. 2.71 lb. Yours is still bigger http://www.notjustfishing.com/Fishing/records.shtml
-
It is listed here http://ontariofishing.net/fishrecords.html

Looks to me like white crappie. Six spines and dark vertical bars. Black crappie has irregular dark coloration
-
He is saying 14 oz not 0.14 lb, so it is bigger Read the post again

From OFAH website Ontario record 2.24 lb, so yours is bigger

Some of mine. Filleting, carving and pocket "knives"

Thanks for the kind words Pete from me and Maggie. As you can see on the pictures the boat doing just fine

First time this year my youngest daughter Maggie has joyned me on the water. Considering beautifull weather, and this special ocasion, I was pumped for this trip Morning sun Concentration Comfort First catch 5" perch Second catch 8 " sunfish ( big jump in size ) I was hoping that next will be 12" bass, but instead she has decided to aim higher We were drifting slowly over weedbed. The weeds were very thick, so I've put weedless spoon on her line ( silver minnow) After few minutes she hit a "snag". , but "snag" is pulling the line I helped her land this "snag" To top it up she has wanted a nice picture of her catch , so here it is After adrenaline rush has ended, we've decided to enjoy this beautifull boating weather On the end we even left few "doughnuts" on the water It is history already, but I think I'm still on "cloud nine"

Thanks for the tip JB. I will try this next time on "muskie waters"

The morning was very nice, but short lived. When we hit the water around 6:30 , heavy clouds started rolling in from the north and after about half an hour sun has dissapeared. Bass is open so I've started casting spinnerbait. After few casts I got something, but small - 10" crappie Changed to 3" "five of diamonds", five min later another 10" crappie Now HJ12, Finally something bigger - 23-25" pike, little bit later another one same size and then..... you've guessed - 10" crappie Next catch few min later make me laugh. 6" crappie on HJ12, and this was an "acrobat" - back treble in the mouth, front one embeded in tail . I was soooo surprised that I've forgot about picture. Water was calm, so I've started tossing spook. 20 min and nothing. Decided to change lure again, when the spook was about 10 yards from the boat, I've started reeling in, and what do you know, this chunky bass hit it 3' from the boat (21"/3lb 9oz) New techniques for the spook - reel it fast in straight line Let's try for walleye. Juicy worm on inline spinner. They did not cooperate, but yhis one did (30"/5lb 7oz) We've drifted to the shore to streach legs little bit, but we had to leave in a hurry because of this Later we've landed few more pikes and LMB, but small ones. Traditionaly two pikes and crappies as a reward for their effort were invited for fish fry contest
-
For me it was worth the effort. This is 14' and went from this To this

You are right, it is heaven Some pictures of the same spot in winter

I've accepted invitation from my friend, to go to his cottage in deep woods and fish his private lake ( he did not has to ask me twice ). After 4x4-ing last few km streach of the trail, we've arrived to the visible excitement of the black flies View of the lake For the first time I've had a"pikeless" fishing trip, but no complains. We've managed to catch other species to try few new recipes Few bigger ones After two days the change of diet was necessary, so we've switched to different species One of the "visitors" When we were leaving the lake was calm and peacefull again.

Again same lake , same company, same goal . The only difference was the weather. Just beautiful for fishing ( not so for catching ) What a difference, we were few minutes late to catch the sunrise, but still it was worth to take a picture I should not complain about fishing, because we still managed to land few pikes, but we were chased from one spot to another by very aggresive bass. For the first time on this lake I've hooked ( what I consider trophy for myself) approx. 5 lb SM. Released itself on the slack line about 3-4' from the boat. Some pike pictures: The lake was very busy at times. Few more boats in 100 meters radius On the end it was a pleasure to ( comparing last weekend ) be on the water. Following the tradition two of the smaller pikes we've landed ( 7 in total ) were invited for fish fry contest . It is only four more days for the next weekend

Went with my friend to our favored lake. At 6:30 am was only 4 ºC and wind has started picking up. It did not look good. By 9 am the conditions were brutal ( cold, high wind and white caps on the water ) By that time we've checked all our honey holes, but nothing liked our offerings. We were almost ready to quit, but in desperation decided to check one more spot which looked promissing on the hydro map. After casting for liitle bit we've switched to trolling ( due to frozen hands ). Boat was jumping like a bober, but maybe this was a reason why by 10 am we were sweating little bit. In this hour all hel$ broke lose. We hooked three pikes (35" +/- 2") and lost them all at the boatside ( for this body of water 35" pike is a big one ). Then 2 LMB approx 3.5 and 4 lb . They did not want to practise "long distance release", so we had to do it manually . We've moved to the side of this honey hole (about 100 m). As a insult to the injury I've hooked chunky (38 - 40") muskie with some strange coloration. After checking the picture at home I'm sure it was so called "barred muskie". We've left the spot (but we will be back at right time ) . On the way to boat launch each of us hooked smaller pike 24" and 26" (still trolling). The've accepted the invitation for fish fry contest. My hands were too frozen to take a pictures. Hope the weather will be more cooperative next weekend

I'm with you 100% on this, Terry The only thing I would like to add is a subtitle to this thread. How about: Bull from Ontario Human Rights Commission

We've had a visitor for mothers day. My niece came from Montreal to spend few days with us. She always wanted to go fishing (never did before ), so I've had an excuse to wet the line. I've bought her licence (non resident $$$ ) and at first light on Saturday morning we've went to my favored lake.. First surprise - the boat launch parking was already full ( at 7 am). On the side note: if somebody needs 2.5m on the both sides to park, just go to Wal Mart at midnight . Anyway, I've de-winterized ( or summerized ) the motor week ago. On the first pull it's started like a dream. At first "honey hole" I've showed her how to cast spinning outfit. First cast 2 m distance, second cast 10 m, third one maybe fifteen.I was preparing my rod when I hear: I got one . Youp, in about 5 min she's hooked her first ever fish, nice pike. I could not convince her to hold it for the picture, so I was holding it . About 20 min later, we're drifting over huge stump, I've told her to cast to the side of it. I was little bit hungry, when searching for the sandwitch, I hear again : I got one. And here it is (again I'm fish "holder" ) At the same spot I've hooked approx. 3 lb LM, but after identifying the fish, I've put slack on the line and performed perfect "long distance release". Bite died down completely, so we've moved to different part of the lake. I'm getting allergic to " I got one". few minutes in new spot and she hooks another one,and again, and again. I'm little bit nervous at this time, particularly bacause evert time she looks at me ' she is laughing Finally It is my turn( another pike ), I'm just happy to show anything for myself. Two pikes were invited for "fish fry contest". They look good on cedar planks Before After ( top shelf is just desert ) My niece went home today with small present ( nice spinning combo ) for job well done. I'm getting ready for the next weekend

I was there on Tuesday morning, no docks yet. On parking lot was a van with "FISH TV" logo with nice nitro trailer.
