Actually Roy, I think you'll find 17 degrees works better
Depends on the wind lol, 2.3mm of splash on lure entry is most important. Any more or less splash, your wasting your time.

Flipping, is basically using a set amount of line without using the bail between underhand flips/casts of the lure.
Pitching, is an underhand style cast(using the bail) to specific targets.
Both used for close range, especially flipping.
As for the straight shank vrs offset flippin hooks, I use the off set. Prefer a better bait profile and can't say I have missed fish becasue of the offset. For wider body baits texas riggin or tex-posing I like the riggin hook from owner.

Yes, I think another poster touched on this in another post.
From the Otonobee north there is a current right to the Hastings river the winds its way infront of some points and not far from some shorelines.
I could see maybe driving out in Bewdley bay maybe, but east of the humps or Long Ilse, , no friggin way for me anyways, don't know the ice well enough on Rice yet.

I echo Daves statment, Paul's a class act.

rye and something warm.... usually at 3 am for me...before I was married of course.

Heya Cliff, we got into a few craps on Rice. Found them in 14-18ft after 3 hours of searching. If I was you I would head north from your place and try around the point north of you. IF you weren't already there,

... btw, I thought float fishin' was a gurley-guy sport?
I heard that real Canadians punch holes through 3' of ice with a hand auger while wearing a t-shirt and drinking copious amounts of Molsons and taking a big whiz down each hole to show the fish who's boss...
Not whizzing down the hole, crap, with enough pints you can piss through 3 inches.

Yeah, I aint too wild aboot those seperatists either!!!
... it's like those Franchies have a different word for everything eh?
Only you GCD, only you.
Zinga!

Great suit and good price. Kinda natural colours though... Just don't go over during the frog migration.

I feel your pain Cliff.
I drove 2 hours to get a plow for the ATV, 50% OFF, they had 2 of them. I was there 10mins after opening. Sold out. I took 4 shovels full of salt from their parking lot, so I feel alittle better.

Plan for New years day is some fresh bacon wrapped walleye and crappie from the day to compliment the prime venison roast that will be marinated and ready for the BBQ.

Like anything in life, practice makes perfect.
Especially trailering a boat in a high current river.

Fishing, is not what we do..
It's who we are.

I am good for any other weekend then the 14th weekend, I am at the show, plus it is "love" day and my daughter's bday which in turn = $$$$ day!

Great news!

I used to organize days on the water fishing for bigs and littles. I was amazed to see the connection that is made between the two. It's a friendship for life one big brother told me. I couldn't imaging growing up without a father figure in my life and I hope to give that back at one point as a big brother myself.
Good on ya smalliefisher. I see you are in TO, but I have a contact for a case manager BB&S in Pickering you can ask more about it if you like.
-
I am going to try and get out of my comfort zone fliippin with flippin jigs, etc for largies and try more crankbaits, especially deep divers.
Last years goal at this time was to focus on sight fishing smallies, which I now LOVE, hope to hone it more this upcoming season!

I echo Lews post above.
However, Once I find some "bait in your eyes" aka crappies on Rice you are welcome to join me. You still have one good arm.
That ingury is what ended my hockey career or what I think would of been one!
-
Rice Lake, I'll be turning part of the lake into swiss cheese as I hunt for the crappie.

let's leave those pensions alone here - i agree with everyhting that has been said but almost every public sector employee is in OMERS which is a defined benefit plan (ie capped) and anytime anyone mentions pensions (public or private) you have to remember it is OUR MONEY that pays the pension plan. most people are unaware of the substantial payroll deduction that pays for OMERS pensions.
good thing the cheque is a healthy govt one to start!
Sorry, uncapped was inappropriate. They are capped, but at different percentages (private vrs public) on how much you can contribute based on salary.
Ok. left alone.
-
TO firemen work 24 hr shifts, two a week. Lots of time to moonlight and fish.
Gov. employees salary may not be as high as private, but other perks ie. benefits approx. 25% of ones salary and basically uncapped pension contributions even keel it a bit.

This dual console Lund 2025 ProV series sits on a dual axel trailmaster trailer. It is equipped with fish finder , 107 pound motor guide trolling motor , 130 HP Evinrude engine and full custom lund travel/storage cover. For more information please contact James @ (705) 626-2757, $19,900
Not a bad deal. Little under powered though, I'd be looking at upgrading the motor.
The set back consoles are not the best for down riggin either, not much room at the back to setup and fight out a fish.
Still a solid boat for the moola. IMO

The disclosure cap should be raised to 150/175.
I agree Wayne it is outdated, even to $200,000
