  1. Those are all BIG fish! way to go. There is nothing better than spending time together fishing with family. It's the best prescription for smiles Look forward to more of your reports. Tony
  2. Check out the Okuma Aventa, it is a fine reel for the money. Cabelas has them on sale right now for $139.99 U.S. Don't let people tell you that you need a high-priced reel, unless money is no object for you, they all do the same thing. Sure some of them might 'start-up' quicker, but for the extra 2 or 300 dollars more I can finger the spool to get it started in those real slow drifts. I personally use an Okuma, and have caught as much or more fish than guys with the high-priced reels. Don't forget a long rod, 13 feet is a good length that will work well in most Southern Ontario tributaries. Cheers, Tony
  3. If you are going to feed them, you will need to consider water changes Tony
  4. You need to keep the water well oxygenated using an air stone and bubbler from an aquarium store, or one of the commercial airators like you mentioned.
  5. Thanks for sharing, it takes a lot of time to put up a report like that on high-speed Internet let alone dial-up. It makes it even that much more impressive. Looks like everyone enjoyed themselves out there at the Walleye Factory! See you soon, Tony
  6. I don't think it is the planning that is the challenge. If people are able to commit and pay up front, the rest is easy. I think if the date was picked say fri/sat night leaving sunday noon kind of thing it wouldn't be a big deal. Get it all booked by June I am sure that we would get the availability needed. Since everyone is paid up front, last minute cancellations are at the expense of that person, I am sure they could find someone to take their pre-paid spot pretty easily Commitment and Cash are the culprit here.
  7. the St Croix Premier 7'6" Med-Heavy gives you a bit more length, and in my opinion is a good all-around rod for various Musky fishing applications. The added length will help when casting and also allow you to get deeper and wider figure-8's/L-Turns. My $.02 Tony
  8. Getting Hooked with Aaron and Barry is great since they film a lot of locations right here in S. Ontario. I think they film in popular areas using new/different techniques to catch more fish. Personally, I think that is the most important aspect of a show, not guys going to fly-in lodges or exotic locations where the fish hit anything you throw at them. I am keeping my fingers crossed that their show is a big success. They are the type of guys that deserve the most success, as they are stand up guys that would give the shirt off their back to help someone in need. I believe they air on WildTV now and will be airing National on OLN come January. Cheers, Tony

    Apology

Good on ya for apologizing. Bad karma for going down that road though, sorry to say. Tony
  13. Nice fish! This must have been the best weekend for Steelhead in S. Ontario so far this fall. Lots of reports. I assume it succumbed to the irresistible sac du roe? Good stuff!! Cheers, Tony
  14. Some bad days are inevitable, it just makes all the other great days more enjoyable when they do occur. Cheers, Tony
  15. Fish it the same way you would down here. You may also want to take some bottom drifting gear (3-way swivel rig & slinkies) along with your casting rod to toss spinners, plugs, etc. Have fun, can't wait to see your report when you return. Cheers, Tony
  16. Please vote for the night that you are 100% sure you can make it. If you are available for other nights, reply in this thread stating the alternative dates you can make it. Thanks, Tony Maybe this could be pinned?
  17. I was thinking about the poll thing, but you get people voting that don't even show up so it is hard to gauge it that way. It would be better if people responded with a definate yes and what dates they could make it for. That way we would be working towards trying to accomodate the most people that are actually going to show. Tony
  18. Yeah the Bronte Firehall seems to have pretty darned good wings, no need to change a good thing Only 5 weeks until Christmas, holy crap! Tony
  19. Thanks man!
  20. Juts thought I would post about this again, too exciting to leave it collecting dust on the old board. Let's continue the planning/discussion of this fine event. Last I recall we were aiming for the Tuesday Dec 26th (Cheap wings) or Friday Dec 29th (Reg. Price wings) GMAN, did you handle the booking last year? I recall you mentioning something about knowing the owner there, maybe he can throw in some free wings or something for our repeat business? Looking forward to this event. Tony
  21. Copper, Do you use a slip float and twitch the jig, or run it like a roe bag and let the current work it's undulations on the maribou? Tony
  22. Yup, early warning signs Lew
  23. LOL Rich, I was looking at my roe tying supplies, have peach, white, hot pink, but NOT chartreuse. Might have to hit Bronte Outdoors after work. It looks like I am going to be breaking out the Oreo's and hitting a trib tomorrow. It's gonna be blown, but it beats doing nothing. Tony
  24. Reels...going into storage??? No reason to put away the gear come winter! There is always something in season Tony
  25. Spoons: Little Cleo Mepps Syclops Williams Whitefish Jigs (various) - One of the most versatile lures, period. Cranks: Rapala Taildancer Rapala Husky Jerk Cotton Cordell Big-O Renoski's Lots of other greats, too many to list. Cheers, Tony
