Nope, only ever owl I've seen was the snowy. There seemed to be alot this year. I'd love to see another kind, but so far, with all my birding, no luck!

Yes, it is a snowy owl. Every time we went ice fishing on Simcoe, we drove up the 400 and I could see them at the Holland Marsh, but of course you can't stop on the highway with a truck and trailer, so I went back one Sunday on my own in my car and just travelled down each road of the marsh looking, then found one. I even went back the next week and found another. Here was the first one I found, but I didn't get him in flight. Hey, that was your fault Lew, you came back and said "There's a bald eagle up in the tree ahead."

Lew, I hear your pain!! Mom has had someone calling for years and can't do anything about it, then the other day, early in the morning ( I think Sunday), I was still in bed and Paul was up and I hear the phone ring and him answer and I can hear his end of the conversation "No, I don't think there's anything wrong with my computer and it's not even an HP Microsoft." So I immediately jump out of bed and say "Hon, it's a scam, don't give them any info." By then, he's already on his computer giving them info!!!! I kept saying as he was talking "It's a scam, the oldest one in the book, something wrong with your computer" but of course he's talking to them and not listening to me in the background. He starts giving them info and I finally had to yell "don't give them any info, it's a scam" so he heard me that time and said "give me your number and I'll call you back, my wife says not to give you any info." He hung up and they called back right away and I answered and he went through the whole Bull again about something wrong with our computer, can they take over and I told him we're not interested and he immediately hung up on me. Gotta be careful these days. Scammers out there everywhere. Wish I knew how to block them for you Lew, but they're smart these days and change numbers all the time

Wow, that's so cool! $3,500, jeez, that was a bit of money back in 72' eh! The canon lense I have now was $1,400, on sale. I think it is normally $2,000 or more, so when the sale came, Paul said to go get it at Henry's and it was one of the best decisions we both made. Being in the boat all the time I see alot of birds, but then my passion took me to other places, ponds around my area, parks etc. and I just go and look all the time. I'll drive an hour and a half just to see if I can find a kestrel or a snowy owl. So many places to find these beautiful birds/animals. Have definitely enjoyed buying that lense and would recommend it to anyone interested in photography. Thanks so much again everyone for the kind words

Right now I have 3 cameras, but my fave is the Canon 60D with the 100-400mm zoom lense. The T3i is okay, not as good as the 60D. The other one is is just an old point and shoot. If I wanted to get a new camera, it would be the Canon 7D. But the lense is the mainframe, you need a zoom if you want good pics, so save your money and pay for the lense and get a T2i or T3i.

Thank you, actually, if I'm not on vaca, I take the camera in the car with me and go to fields and marsh areas etc and stop on my way to and from work and just cruise slowly to see if I can find anything. It actually takes alot of work to find good wildlife pics. I don't just happen upon them, I scope out where they live, drive by every day and wait "patiently" for them to show up. Appreciate all the responses though and hope I can take some more next year for you all to enjoy

I remember one time, ice fishing up near Oxtongue Lake, near Algonquin park, we used to just have the spool, no rod and a piece of tree (a gaf I think they call it) and one of our friends' spool started going and he ran like the dickens to get it but it spooled out and the whole spool when into the water, gaf and all. Felt bad because I'm sure the fish did not survive long after that, unless he got the hook out of his mouth miraculously, but that is doubtful. My friend tried his best though, even putting his whole arm down the hole and soaking his jacket up to the the shoulder!!

Ya, I can't figure out this "cloud" thing either, drives me nuts. They keep changing the way you can post pics. I did a whole report on my year of pics and it didn't work, took me almost an hour to do and then nothing showed up. Frustrating to say the least

Ok, thanks guys for all the input/info. After talking to a few members here, I think I have a plan in place. Just gets frustrating sometimes and the fact I bought the Rogers box instead of renting it, makes it kind of my problem, but I think I have a solution (Ha, we'll see right )
