  1. My 3 rodshop loungelizards are half boxer.. half lab
  2. LOL...the ol' gal in the back was given to me about 6 years ago. I "cut my teeth" on the old horizontal stickburner. I think it's made from an old boiler of some kind. My 'problem' is I need more capacity as my BBQ expands. The drum smoker is VERY effecient...airtight...easily controlled...& I can leave it for 6-8 hours unattended. The old horizontal, thou, is at least 3/8" thick stuff..once I get it warmed up, It cooks the same even if it's 10 below outside...
  3. I've been going to do this for a year or more. Finally got around to it, taking me from horizontal to UDS  My good friend Jim is a boss at a barrel mfg. plant 3 miles away ( Berenfield),& got me some brand new drums. So, I burnt this one out, then took it to the carwash & pressure washed it. burnt & washed.. Drilled 3/4 holes 2" from bottom, figure the refridg. magnets are the way to go for me. Bought Weber charcoal rack & 22.5 food rack. Put 6" X 3/8" carriage bolts in to hold the charcoal rack {{ figured a guy COULD use 4 red bricks on edge to support the charcoal rack, too  }} Charcoal rack & can in place.. painted with 500` engine paint, installed 2" X 12" nipple in bung. test fire. yanked the can out, after 20 min put lid on waited 30 min. checked temp half-hour late I figured might a swell not waste the fire & tossed come chik pieces on. To my surprise, temps hold VERY WELL :!: just puffin' away.. anyway, I'm learning to 'smoke upright' thanks to the Ringers  I DID have to remove the small bung in the lid, too. I'll need to learn 'Tweaking the Temp" with it. OH BTW...I left the lid off ( by accident) while I was prepping the chicken...temp SHOT to over 500`...so I tested the paint...did good!
  4. We( they) won a local dog show a couple years back... They're all siblings...Sassy (L), Dozer, & Cinder ®, but, Cinder was born 2000...the other two born in 2004- Same parents....mom was a yellow lab...dad was a brown & white Boxer! Thanks all for your kind words..."The Doze" is doing great...he acts like he hardly notices it.
  5. Q pics...brisket & ribs so, during dinner on the deck.. a bear pops out of the bushes...All Hell breaks loose...my 3 dogs ( Boxer -Lab mix) take after it..we see one dog jump right up on the bear's back & bite it....but, he took a shot himself... it was all over in under a minute..except for the trip to the vet for stitches Dam ol' bears, anyway.
  6. Ya sure the battery is tiptop shape?
  7. "Ya but Johnny, you destroy props in the driveway...smacking two on any lake isn't saying much out of the norm for you is it?" Now that's funny...I don't care who you are!
  8. The uglys are just that. Ugly, but ,tough as heck. I built a lot of downrigger rods for Lake Erie in the past...until Shakespeare quit selling blanks some 5-7 yrs.ago. They are 'unsanded', that's where the spiral ridges come from. Most blanks are obviously sanded in the final step of production & this lightens the rod's overall weight. Not the high modulus graphite of other higher end rod blanks, but, no IMX graphite will take what an ugly will. As stated, if durability is your main concern, go for it.
  9. After being married twice, I still in NO WAY condone wife-beating.............................................But, I DO understand it

  22. CHECK WITH YOUR AGENT! All policies are different. In my personal case,... Most auto policies will cover damage done by your trailer( liability), but , not damage TO your trailer. Same with the boat. I needed a seperate policy to cover liability on the water, and, coverage on the boat/trailer itself. This spring, I removed a (1978)16' trihull 70 hp rig & added a(1985) 14'Grumman w/ 9.9 Johnson...the premium went UP $5/year I also learned that if I loaned my boat to a buddy...he wrecks...HIS auto insurance will NOT cover the boat/trailer ! just any damage to the other guy caused by the boat/trailer. It is up to the boat owner to keep coverage ON the boat/trailer.
  23. Boy, I dunno.. I bought a lowrance H2OC this spring & the Canada chip. We spent a week on Chemong / Buckhorn & the thing performed beautifully. It even showed hazards where there were bouys LAST YEAR !! ( gone now).
  24. well over 250... but, I have a well stocked rod building shop with 27 years of "stock'' & tool / gadgets accumulation. (( side note..I had 3/4 of this stuff BEFORE I had a wife ( 1995))) so, guys, tell yor wives " things could be worse..look at this guy!" Maybe She'll see things in a new perspective Harv
