  1. If the thread is still holding the guide fairly secure...just get some 5 minute epoxy glue...mix up a dab ( you can thin it with a couple drops of rubbing alcohol) & simply brush on a layer. It will penetrate the thread & you'll be good to go for a long time. Otherwise, you'll have to re-wrap the guide & follow the above steps. If you think you need more working time, you can get "30 minute" epoxy glue. this saves buying "rod finish"...epoxy glue will discolor over time with exposure to the sun, but,it'll work fine.
  2. Gotta love the 401...80 mph for a mile, then JAM on the brakes to keep from hitting the guy in front of you--traffic almost stopped..then 80 mph again...LOL!! How far East does 407 go ? How do you get to 115/35 ? Drop back down to 401 ?
  3. Last I knew, a photo ID & Birth Certificate is all we need to cross either way, Passport needed next year.....ANY UPDATES on crossing ?? Is 407 better that 401 in the Toronto area ? We will go up in the middle of the night, so ,the 401 isn't too bad, but, we'll go home thru rush hour BTW, what's the current gas price in the Kawartha area?
  4. I'll share what I know...I have a '98 Tahoe..& I "came into" a 99 Durango ( iron 318 ) fully loaded. The Durango is a decent ride. (long story short,I found my best friend dead Sept. 05...family gave me all fishing & boating stuff,) his Dad also arranged for me to get the Durango at a very reasonable cost & he DID replace all 4 ball joints before I took posession. with that being said, I will say that the 'ride' in the Durango is very nice...mileage SUKS .... And,there is a 'road noise' issue. Also...a VERY irritating visibility problem. With trailer mirrors & the thick columns around the windshield, it's REAL easy to pull out in front of somebody !! ( newer models may be better). If I had my druthers..I 'd opt for the Tahoe...bigger, better visibility, bigger engine..& better mileage.
  5. SCENARIO...June 13-20, 10 guys...2- 14' boats & a 19' I/O.. We'd like to try Lower Buckhorn, but I'm a little wary of obstacles with an I/O. Is there anyplace to get a detailed map showing structure ? Or should I just stay out of there with the bigger boat? We still have the option to go thru the locks I guess ( stay in Chemong), but,I'd like to maybe stay at Three Castles?? We've always gone to Chemong in the years past. How's the crappie & pickeral forecast ? It seems to have dropped off some in the last 2 years in Chemong...Pickeral,too.( maybe we've been a couple weeks too late) ,but this year, spring is late. Thanx for any advice...need to make reservations SOON !
