Things have sure changed, back in the day you only drove a pick up if you had too?
My folks always had a couple vehicles and the pick-up was used for camping / fishing trips. My Dad was very handy and built a camper on the back of the truck with log siding and with everything we needed inside. That was before campers became popular and there was often people come over to look at it.
Sadly my Dad was buried 23 years ago yesterday.

You could get a nice ride for 3 = 4 K back in the day.
My Dad bought a brand new 1961 Chevy pick-up for $1800.
Now we pay that much for a new set of tires & a tank of gas ....well almost LOL

Pop had a lot of those old movie reels of us, but they were destroyed by water damage.
Ah look, a memory .
My folks had a movie camera back in the day too Brian with 100's of feet of movies going back to the mid-50's. Years ago they had them all put together on big spools then a few years back my daughter had them all put on CD's and gave them to me as a gift.

I was a lucky guy as I was born into a family that loved camping, fishing, hunting and anything to do with the outdoors, even my Mom was as much at home in a tent as she was in the house. I was born in November and the folks had me on my 1st camping trip the next June when I was only 7 months old.
I don't remember starting to fish as it was something that basically happened as soon as I could hold a fishing pole and we always had a boat although not the one in this picture.
This was taken about 1950 and I'm the little runt on your left with my brother and dad.
Any of you guys remember the old flat bottomed wooden rowboats LOL

When the furnace was secured some of the guys were passing around cigarettes, I took one.
Used to be like that with firemen back in the day too when it seemed most of us smoked. We'd come out of a hot dirty stinkin smokey fire and the 1st thing everyone did was light up a cigarette.
Yeah, the good ole days LOL

One takes care of himself though, goes to the gym etc etc (I have no idea how you work out as a heavy smoker...)
I worked with a guy who was big into staying in shape, worked out at the gym, was a weightlifter, rode many miles on a bike and only ate healthy food.....but as strange as it sounds, he was also a smoker.
We were sitting in the firehall one day and I was eating a donut and he told me if I knew how unhealthy donuts were I'd never eat one again...and he was smoking a cigarette while he was telling me.🤣
I smoked for many years but quit cold turkey 30 years ago.

Our PM goes on TV and tells us to STAY HOME FOR THE BENIFIT OF ALL! Then goes to his cottage to spend the weekend with his family. When asked about it on TV, his response was " Well I haven't seen them in three weeks and I wanted to!
I agree Cliff, that was just plain bad.

A few of us rent cabins up on Nippissing every June and we've already called and cancelled abd re-booked for next year.
I know it's not Crown Land camping but still an enjoyable week for us.

Never been in a kayak in my life Dutch but every time I see one on the lake I think they look as if they'd be an enjoyable way to just cruise around a lake and take in the scenery.

Partly, but also partly that the virus is not as dangerous as what we are being led to believe.
hmmmm, perhaps the 110,000 people that have died from the virus may have a different opinion.

As I see it this is evidence that what we've done up to now is working.
It sure seems somewhat encouraging.

Thanks Woodsman, really interesting map.

I average 1000 miles a month and I change my oil every 5000 miles or 6 months.

In the 18 years I've been on this board there's been so many folks leave I couldn't even imagine how many. Some make a big issue about leaving while others just simply disappear into the night never to be heard from again.
Some come back & some don't.

there was caution tape and signage around he ignored, the cops were hiding and popped out and yelled for him to come over, he was close to his house and jogging by himself
OK thanks Chris, I spose if he ignored the signs there's not much he can do about it.

Yes it’s right in there! It seems every municipality has their own spin on how to manage it.
I'm no lawyer but if the Premiers words are written in plain English saying parks will remain open, but some municipalities put their own spin on it and fine someone $750 for doing what the boss says is OK, there shouldn't be any problem beating it in court.
And for $750 it's sure be worthwhile fighting it.

As I understand it Lew the park lands are completely closed and in fact most are taped off and have signage indicating it. I saw a couple walking their dog through a waterfront park here in Grimsby and even I thought it was strange. They must have ducked under the caution taped to get in.
If you go down a couple paragraphs it specifically says "green spaces such as parks" will remain open, but perhaps that's also been changed since this was written.

My uncle got a $750 ticket today for jogging by himself through a park by his house.
What exactly did he get the ticket for, from what I understand it's still legal to be in a park unless signed otherwise and your not using any park equipment including benches.
Seems really strange he'd get a ticket for simply being in a legal place.

Lew, how far back in the prop wash are you usually running your baits? You also run big blades back there as well if you can keep them under the surface?
Usually around 20'-25' back Bill, sometimes closer and I've even got fish within 5' of the prop. Seems like the bubbles from the prop really stir the fish up.
Also works well with side rods pointed down and very little line out with some fish hitting right at the transom.
Same deal with big heavy spinnerbaits too, specially over heavy weeds.
Fast speeds and 90 degree turns really speed up the baits when they're in tight and that often brings some great hits.

We spent 3 weeks touring the east coast last September and planned on taking that ferry but found out it was closed long term for upgrading but I just checked and it looks like it'll be opening pretty soon now.
