Hi all. I got my Ministry of Finance Ontario letter today. Asking me to provide a copy of the bill of sale showing purchase price and remit a cheque or money order. Calculating tax on the full purchase price (tax rate of 13%). I have no problem paying my tax. The boat package was $13,000 including Boat, Motor and Trailer. I paid my tax on the trailer that was valued at $1,000 at the time of transferring the ownership at the MTO. My question is; Do I have to pay tax on the motor, or just the boat? They are asking me whats the purchase price of the Boat/Watercraft. We all know most boats are worth a lot more less than the outboards these days. Should I split the value and show only what the boat is worth and not include the motor here? Thanks.

Thanks to all. Solved my problem. it was a cracked vacume hose in the fuel regulator module. Engine is running like a champ now.

There used to be a Mercury outboard shop around Steels and Dufferin are.Close to the 407 Head Office. I forgot the name of the shop. It was a unit in a strip mall. Extreme something??? They worked on my Mercury Optimax a while back and did a great job. I will keep an eye on the post and see who gets the best vote and give them my bussines. Thanks!

75 Mercury 4 stroke EFI. It starts hard and when it does start black smoke is coming out (from the exhaust mixed with fuel and oil) . its like running an engine on choke only. To me it looks like its running only on two cylinders, but I could be wrong.I did some research and it could be a fuel problem with the Module fuel supply regulator. Apparently there is a small 1/8" hose that could crack and start sending too much fuel. While running the alarm sounded and I did shut the motor down. I am hopping there will be some codes stored in the ECU. Anyways, the engine has set for over a year and it has less than 50hrs on it. I have to get it checked

Can I please get someone to recommend a good place to have my Mercury 4 stroke engine diagnosed and repaired. I am in Markham and willing to travel a good distance if the shop is reasonable and does a good job. they have to be licensed Mercury technicians. Thanks

Check my 2008 Crestliner 1650 Canadian Edition for sale. Its a steal at $16,000. This boat new would cost you close to $28,000 why spend that kind of money and then lose almost half for using it few times.

Why?? There are some excellent prices here at home. Check the classified section. The 2005 Crestliner for $12,500 without trolling motor......with trolling motor $13,000. You can't get that boat in the states for that price. Plus, you have to pay your 13% tax at the boarder....due the math. Good Luck.

To mee they seem low for a 2005 Engine. I was told by the tech the engine can't have more than 50 hours of run time. He was the one that inspected the motor in and out. Who knows??

I would like to know what is a good compression numbers on a 2005 Mercury 90 hp 2 stroke. I am about to buy one and the numbers presented to me were as follow; 110, 110, 110 in all three cylinders. I spoke with the service advisor and was told these are good numbers for a 2 stroke engine. Usually 4 stroke engines will have higher numbers I was told?? Is this true?? What about the reading of this engine. THANKS ALL

I don't know where they got these outboards. I saw the advertisement and in the pictures it looks as if the unit was a marina that had closed and left the engines behind. They have the two engines in a crate and all controls for them. Who knows!! I am going to get the engine checked before I give them the money. $4,500 for one is the asking price.

Hi to all. I need some help on buying a Brand new 140 V4 Nissan outboard. I think the year is 1992??, but the outboard is still in the crate. Never ran ever before. Would, I have problems with this outboard and if so what should I be looking for?? I am worried about the gaskets being brittle and maybe have some corrosion around the pistons. Or maybe, I will be surprised and she would run just as new. Thanks .

Thanks for the info. I have two dealers here close to me. One is Suzuki Newmarket and The Atc Corral in Stouffville. I started the engine yesterday. You can't here this thing run. Also was reading on the fuel grade and it requires at least 91 octaine. Good to know at these gas prices LOL.

Hey guys. I need some help with my 2001 dumb ass Suzuki 115hp 4 stroke that I just bought. Like to change the oil on the outboard. I don't know what kind of oil the last owner used for this engine. I have the original manual and it's asking for a Suzuki oil grade of 10W40. Wen't to a Suzuki dealership today and the parts counter person tried selling me a Motorcycle engine oil 10W40. That is all he had....After reading the back of the container it's says that this oil can be also used in outboards as well. Not sure about howmuch he knew about outboard engines. Anyways went on the Suzuki web site and they do have a 10W40 Marine engine oil . Well, my question is will the motorcycle engine work with the outboard??? Also, I am considering going with Amsoil Synthetic 10W40.. Any help will be appreciated.... Cheers

I would stick to GMC Silverado. I have one ( 2003 GMC 1500 Sierra 4X2) and it has been an awsome truck. 4.8 V8 Vortec. The only think I would change on mine is the 4x2.......... 4x4 Z71 is the way to go.

Maybe it was drunk and then it recovered???
