  1. While fishing Simcoe today for white fish. Myself and a friend noticed one boat leave and return a few times after catching their limits each. On their 3rd trip back, we watched them catch and keep 8 whitefish . The limit is 2 per person.I approached them with my camera out and took a picture of the poachers. Once they realized what was going on, they pulled up their anchor and sped away. I phoned 1-800-222-tips and gave a report to a officer and I'll have to do a return call tomorrow and email them the picture I took. Hoefully they get what they deserve. Here's the picture of them in their boat.
  2. If you do find a registered breeder with the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) , and they offer you a pup without papers being cheaper than one that has papers, report them directly to the CKC. It is against the law to do so as all pups are registered right from birth.
  3. You can get a magazine at the grocery store or usually any pet store will have this book. It's called the Dogs in Canada Anual. It has just about every breed of registered dog available and also lists reputable breeders anywhere in Canada. As for the shots, most breeders won't let the pups go until 7-8 weeks of age and they should have their first set of shots. There are still another set of shots as the pup gets older such as distemper, piro virus and also rabies which are a yearly injection.
  4. I had the same issue with my gps when I put in my hot maps chip for the Muskoka's. Once you locate the appropriate map in the menu, press enter and it will load up. If all else fails, Lowrance can help you out over the phone.
  5. Check to see if the card is a MMC or SD card. If it's a MMC card, it's a bit thinner than the SD card and won't open to read sometimes. I solved this by putting a few pieces of electrical tape on the chip that is held down by the tab inside the GPS. You will have to locate the section of map you're trying to read and install the appropriate map section as well.
  6. I own many filet knives and the one from Rapala with the wooden handle is the best I've used and they are priced right.
  7. I've lost four dogs myself and know that this is a very tough decision to be made. Thay are just like kids and part of the family.Loyal to the end.
  8. Check the regs before fishing Jacks lake. The top section might already be closed for the ice season because it's also a sanctuary. The lower sections are open though.
  9. It's too bad a plate number couldn't have been taken down to nail that idiot. Hopefully someone did and it's just a matter of time to nail them. Speedy recovery to Sheri Lew.
  10. Fishing Plus has closed down. It's now a used car shop.
  11. Your best bet is to contact Marcum directly. They should be able to help you out.
  12. As long as the bait store can get their minnows from the lake they are on, it shouldn't be a problem. Bait shops on Simcoe usually harvest their own shiners from the lake and they can sell them only for that lake.
  13. Hey misfish, I recognize that snow.
  14. To suggest that the angling pressure is the reason for low river run returns is rediculous. I've fished the major rivers back when they were producing huge runs and each year the rivers change to erosion . The stocking cuts also don't help much and there are even a lot of fish that have been stocked into the lakes rather than the river and won't run up stream. If you don't like showing a picture with a back ground, take a photo looking down onto the water. This way only you standing in a river or a bottom of a boat is visible and keep the good photos for yourself. Moosebunk, I would have never known that was you.Too funny.
  15. It says a lot when the owner is willing to invite someone out to try out the range and get a new sportsman into hunting the proper way. Well done Sam.
  16. I've used the 14lb crystal and it works just like the original fireline. In clear water , it looks like mono and it might be a bit softer than the original.
  17. The props are interchangeable with Merc and Yamaha, even the stainless props for the higher HP engines can be used for either or.So there won't be any performance gain or loss from either prop.
  18. Here ya go Dan. I don't like the Leafs either so here is my contribution.
  19. The reels are serviceable. I have spoken directly with a Pflueger rep in the US . It's probably best then to have a dealer repair or clean them out.
  20. The circuits in the US will have a motor company as a sponsor and the majority of anglers who fish that particular circuit will be running those motors. If you look up here in Ontario, the circuits are mostly Mercury sponsored and that reflects back with what the anglers use. It's more of a Merc showing here. Prefernce is mostly on what the consumer thinks as every company will push out a lemon once in a while. I prefer the Opti because of it's track record in reliability.
  21. Most boats aren't built to handle the extra weight of a 4 stroke of comparible HP. The problem lies when you shut the big engine down, the amout of back wash that will hit the boat. You can get around this a bit by giving some gas just as the back wash is about to hit, but you will feel the weight push down on the back of the boat. There are some boat manufacturers that are compensating for this now.
  22. I'm using the Presidents and Supreme reels from Pflueger and have found the same thing. I couldn't get the side cover off. If there is a problem with the reel, I would take it to warranted service centre and let them play with it. If you break something, it will cost ya.I f they break it, they fix it.
  23. The majority of any bassboats will have a 2 stroke motor hanging off it's transom. For torque and speed , it's the way to go and some bass boats are not intended to have the extra weight of a 4 stroke . The main advantages of a 4 stroke are for trolling and no oil reservoir in the boat. I'm running a Merc 250 Opti on my boat and I'm either cruising at 40 mph while play fishing or at WOT and no 4 stroke will touch me there. You'll get a bit more life out of a 4 stroke as well, but if you up grade a motor evry 5-6 years, it won't make a difference.
  24. If you go to google images and type in mako shark, those exact pictures are there.
  25. I've used the LX-5 last season and just love it. The zoom detail is great and you can zoom in anywhere in the water column. There is also 2 cone angles you can utilize to avoid false readings for when fish come into the zone and the charging system is far superior over any other units in my opinion. One it's fully charged, you can leave it plugged in and it will maintain the battery unlike other brands as to when it fully charged, you have to unplug the unit to avoid killing the battery.
